symbicort

Avatar f tn The second attack caused him to be hospitalized during treatment because he was not responding well to 3 doses of albuterol via nebulizer and had low oxygen sat. (88%). Both of the epsiodes occured during a cold/virus. My Dr. is reccomending a once daily pulmicort treatment for prevention purposes. I am a little hesitant to be giving him this at such a young age and only a short time of displaying these symtoms.
746512 tn?1388807580 I am already using 800mcg of pulmicort a day and even at that level it has been giving me muscle cramps and messing up my period, so I don't want to increase it. Any comments? Or things I could try?
Avatar f tn We up her daily breathing treatments to twice a day when shes sick. she uses pulmicort.
Avatar f tn if you don't need both medications, pulmicort was the cheapest that me and my doctor found. Advair diskus 250 was lasting two weeks for (4 puffs a day) and pulmicort for $15 more, had 200 doses and I was only using 2 a day because it was 400ug instead of 250. The best is to go and ask a pharmicist to look up the prices for you.
Avatar m tn My doctor prescribed Pulmicort Respules and gave me a Neilmed irrigator to apply the dose. Do I fill the Neilmed with water and pour the respule in the water and mix, and then apply? Or do I just put one respule in the irrigator and irrigate without diluting? There are no directions...I'm guessing that I dilute the solution but does that impact efficacy?
746512 tn?1388807580 t want to take my rescue inhaler all the time because it gives me wicked muscle cramps and makes me loopy and really tired. I also take 400umg of pulmicort twice a day. Is there anything I should do; call my doctor, up my pulmicort dose or just wait the weather out? Thanks for the input.
Avatar n tn The answer is complicated. The reason for giving these medications sequentially, is that they have different effects. By giving one med before the other the optimal medicinal performance is obtained with a minimum of medication. There is a difference of opinion regarding this issue. My brain is foggy, but that is how it was explained to me a long time ago by a very knowledgable R.N. Ocassionally there are side effects, and mixing the drugs does not hold well for figuring out the problem.
Avatar f tn This medication I use once is the morning and once at night. The other medication is called Bricanyl Turburhaler. Some people also call it a " puffer" or an " inhaler". The Bricanyl I am instructed to use as needed, not every day. I can understand why you are hesitant or scared to take prednisone. " Low doses taken short term ( by mouth) rarely cause serious side effects." I am copying this statement from a medical book I own.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind right now. My preventive asthma medication seems to cause nausea and general cloudiness when I take them. When I stop taking them, the dizziness stops so I know that it's the cause. I've tried a handful of different medicines like Flovent, Dulera, Qvar, Advair, Pulmicort and even Singulair and they all cause this nauseating effect. I'm wondering if any of you know what this might be and any way to stop it.
Avatar n tn ) I took him back to his doctor and she said it was indeed his asthma and gave us a Pulmicort Flexhaler, 180mcg. She told me (and put it on his asthma plan) to have him use the Pulmicort Flexhaler twice, two times a day and to try it for a month Since then, I've read online that the Flexhaler should be given to children who are 4 with extreme caution and I've read that 180 mcg is the typically recommended dose to start off with.
Avatar f tn I have recently changed my preventor from flixotide to pulmicort as when I was on flixotide I was finding that I felt like I had to take deep breaths all the time. Once I swapped preventors it improved and has now been approximately 4 months and has come back. I feel like I have to yawn all the time to get a deep breath in. I have also had a croaky voice for nearly 2 months and can't figure out why. I work in child care and have not had any cold or flu symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hello ahsas, How do you know you are allergic to asthma medication? If you are asthmatic, you need to be on some sort of asthma medication as the asthma can get worse. See your family doctor asap. I have asthma and I have two kinds of asthma medication that I have to take daily. The ones I take are called Pulmicort ( 2 x a day) and Bricanol as needed. Don't fool around with asthma. Go to your family doctor and get looked at, get evaluated for the proper asthma meds. Good luck.
746512 tn?1388807580 I have a few things that have been going funky over the last couple of days and I'm not sure what to make of it. I have been insanely fatigued over the last couple of weeks (to the point it seems almost impossible to move and feels hard to breathe - however not related to my asthma). Then again, finals start next week and this last month and a half have been insanely stressful and busy for me in unviersity.
Avatar n tn You may need a X-Ray and other tests. My feeling is that basically you need an adjustment of medication. A second opinion will be a wise thing to do.

Avatar f tn s been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out. Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away. They said no wheeze and we've been doing the pulmicort and albuterol. Well it isnt' helping. So the ped feels we'll add Singulair.
Avatar f tn The best way would be to start heavy preventative medication as soon as there is a slight runny nose - pulmicort plus around the clock ventolin (or whatever SABA you are using). Supplements that increase his immune system may also help (although talk to his doctor before starting any to ensure the proper dosage for a child).
Avatar f tn Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.
Avatar m tn I am a 32 year old male with a somewhat mild case of asthma, and I take symbicort and albutoral as medication. I hate it. I recently developed some PVCs (heart palpatations), and I would really like to use a long term asthma controller in place of the symbicort that does not have increased heart rate as a side effect. Are there any somewhat effective asthma medications (long term controller, not rescue inhaler) that do not have increased heart rate as one of the side effects?
Avatar m tn Heart Palpitations - no medication (all OK from Chest X-ray, ECG and Echocardiogram) Asthma - Advair 250mcg inh od, Bricanyl Turbuhaler (0.5mg inh prn) Narcolepsy without cataplexy (Excessive Daytime Sleepyness) - Modafinil (100-200mg po od) Hiatal Hernia (GI) - 30mg lansoprazole po pd Recent tests: CBC and Chem Panel all within normal ranges.
Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
Avatar n tn Though in the past year or so, I have been almost normal. For this problem, I was prescribed Rhinocort Turbuhaler (commercial name) budesonide powder made by Astra Zeneca. I normally apply it at least once a day, sometimes I skip if I feel very good. My situation goes back almost 1 week ago when I woke up with a stuffy nose and I thought that I had a bad episode of rhinitis. I took me 2 advil cold and sinus Plus (with antihestamine).
Avatar f tn My son also takes medication form Asthma and Allergies which, we are tapering off. He was taking Metaclopramide and Pepcid daily until about the end of November when I stopped the medication. He still takes every other day Xopenex, Pulmicort, Zyrtec, and Singulair. I don't know if any of these medications could be the cause for his problems. Please help!
Avatar n tn He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing. My husband and I went to his parent-teacher conference yesterday - for pre-school - and we were advised by his team (speech therapist, psychologist, etc.) that we should discuss his behavior with our pediatrician. The other item that kept coming up was his attention span. Most of his intellectual skills - cutting, drawing, writing, etc - were up to par.
Avatar f tn t work for me, even at the highest dose. i got put on pulmicort and foradil that did wonders for me and last month i got put on symbicort which is a combo of the pulmicort and foradil. Maybe symbicort would not cause you these symptoms?
