757137 tn?1347196453 I have learned with any inhaler it is best if you place your tongue under the guard as to get the most effect of the medication and to avoid losing the medication to your tongue.
Avatar f tn But these medication will make your child liable to infection, what they do is suppress the inflammatory process as a whole....meaning if your child has any other infection away from the pulmonary system the small infection may kill your child because his immune system is suppressed and stopped by this prevention medication Is there a better alternative i ask.....
746512 tn?1388807580 I have to walk outside to get to some of classes and if I pass more than one person smoking or get too many wifts in my face, my chest really tightens up and I'm forced to use my rescue inhaler. The problem is this has been an almost daily occurence and I hate taking ventolin that regularly. I am already using 800mcg of pulmicort a day and even at that level it has been giving me muscle cramps and messing up my period, so I don't want to increase it. Any comments?
Avatar n tn She told me (and put it on his asthma plan) to have him use the Pulmicort Flexhaler twice, two times a day and to try it for a month Since then, I've read online that the Flexhaler should be given to children who are 4 with extreme caution and I've read that 180 mcg is the typically recommended dose to start off with.

Avatar f tn They may ahve something else that they would prefer to prescribe to add to the combivent. Please NEVER adjust any medications, your own or someone else's without first discussing it with the prescribing physician. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help, but it really is best if you ask his doctor what he things/suggests. Best of luck.
Avatar m tn Should I be using 2 ampules per 240 ml bottle? I have not been able to use nasal steroids...give me sores in nose. So now use lavage.
Avatar f tn I have recently changed my preventor from flixotide to pulmicort as when I was on flixotide I was finding that I felt like I had to take deep breaths all the time. Once I swapped preventors it improved and has now been approximately 4 months and has come back. I feel like I have to yawn all the time to get a deep breath in. I have also had a croaky voice for nearly 2 months and can't figure out why. I work in child care and have not had any cold or flu symptoms.
Avatar f tn if you don't need both medications, pulmicort was the cheapest that me and my doctor found. Advair diskus 250 was lasting two weeks for (4 puffs a day) and pulmicort for $15 more, had 200 doses and I was only using 2 a day because it was 400ug instead of 250. The best is to go and ask a pharmicist to look up the prices for you.
Avatar f tn Hello ahsas, How do you know you are allergic to asthma medication? If you are asthmatic, you need to be on some sort of asthma medication as the asthma can get worse. See your family doctor asap. I have asthma and I have two kinds of asthma medication that I have to take daily. The ones I take are called Pulmicort ( 2 x a day) and Bricanol as needed. Don't fool around with asthma. Go to your family doctor and get looked at, get evaluated for the proper asthma meds. Good luck.
Avatar f tn s been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out. Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away. They said no wheeze and we've been doing the pulmicort and albuterol. Well it isnt' helping. So the ped feels we'll add Singulair.
Avatar n tn There is a difference of opinion regarding this issue. My brain is foggy, but that is how it was explained to me a long time ago by a very knowledgable R.N. Ocassionally there are side effects, and mixing the drugs does not hold well for figuring out the problem.
Avatar n tn Also i am using Pulmicort and Singulair regularly. I am from India.I may be travelling to US shortly. I am worried about the availability of Ventolin inhalers. Some months i may need to use more than one Ventolin inhalers based on my asthma triggers. Will it be a problem to get 2 ventolin inhaler prescription per month in US.
Avatar f tn it was getting so bad that i could not do anything without getting out of breath and having to use my breathing machine all the time...the doctor prescribed prednisone and just recently heard it could have harm to the baby.. it was a 20 mg tablet twice daily only for 3 days? i had bloodwork done and they said it came back abnormal. i go the 14 to have an ultra sound and then the 15 to have a second ultrasound at uav? anything from anyone that has been in this situation before?
Avatar f tn You could say you want to use an inhaler for your asthma instead of pills. Ask your doctor if you can take Pulmicort and Bricanyl. If this doctor refuses to give you a prescription for an inhaler and keeps saying you should stick with the Prednisone pills. Find a new doctor who will listen to you. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Do you really want to be giving your son Pulmicort under any circumstances? It is a corticosteroid with many side effects. For instance it compromises the immune system and weakens bones. For a growing boy that does not sound great. There are natural anti-inflammatories that actually work better than steroids and which do not harm the patient. The albuterol is OK.
5037123 tn?1362663006 My doctor has prescribed Pulmicort which I take 2 times a day. You have to rinse your mouth after you take Pulmicort. I also take something called Bricanol which is also an inhaler which my doctor told me to use as needed. I've seen commercials for Advair. The commercials state that not everybody is a candidate for Advair. One idea is to google - possible side effects of Advair. Possible side effects of Symbicort.
959034 tn?1253671476 Her other alternative was to try 2 things. (1) I am to use the pulmicort 400 ug inhaler in conjunction with the oxeeze inhaler. These are the same two components as in the symbicort. But this way you can get more of the steroid in, however you have to carry two inhalers around now. But a small sacrifice to stay off prednisone. The second option was to try Advair 500, which personally I don't think will work. Talk to your doctor about trying pulmicort 400 with oxeeze.
Avatar f tn When my asthma bothered me as a child I was too off in my own world to understand what it meant. I just knew my mum told me I had to use this puffer. So my self knoweledge on asthma is not that great. Thank you in advance for your responce.
1516809 tn?1345082764 The doctor then doubled her Pulmicort doseage in her Nebulizer for two weeks to see if that helped plus using Robitussin as needed. Last week I complained to the doctor again about the coughing and she put my mother back on Azithromycin for 5 days. The sounds did not dissipate. I asked the doctor to do a chest X-ray which was done today, results will be available tomorrow. She felt that the X-Ray will probably show nothing.
Avatar n tn My son is 2 1/2 and has illness induced asthma. He has had a rough year, been on and off of oxygen, used pulmicort, singular, xeopenex, albuteral, and way too many oral steroids. The pulmicort is a steroid but has less side effects then the oral steroids because it goes directly to the lungs instead of all the organs. Pulmicort is a preventative and should be used before an asthma attack.
Avatar m tn I recently went to the doctor to try to find a cure for the chronic cough and occasional breathlessness and did a spirometry test (see previous post). I also had a chest x-ray, which came back normal.
Avatar f tn I tried to take ADVAIR (love the design) but after one week--everytime I wanted to talk--I had to constantly clear my throat! I could never have more than a few minutes without having to clear my throat! Anyone else with this problem? AND my voice sounded like it was "cracky" or like getting over brochitis!
Avatar f tn Thank you Sunshine... do you use it like you did prior to pregnancy? I used to use it every four hours when I was wheezing like this...
