Avatar m tn My doctor prescribed Pulmicort Respules and gave me a Neilmed irrigator to apply the dose. Do I fill the Neilmed with water and pour the respule in the water and mix, and then apply? Or do I just put one respule in the irrigator and irrigate without diluting? There are no directions...I'm guessing that I dilute the solution but does that impact efficacy?
Avatar n tn Since we know the medicine is safe for use in very young children from Pulmicort Respules™ (budesonide inhalation suspension) the most likely reason they chose 6 and above was because many children less than age 6 would not be able to use this delivery device effectively. The recommended dose for this age group is 180 mcg via Flexhaler twice daily, but up to 360 mcg twice daily is deemed acceptable.
Avatar m tn I have had constant nasal congestion and nasal drip the the past five years. After my first pregnancy I developed an allergy to cats. We got rid of our cats 2 yrs ago. We have hardwood floors and new furniture and there is no relief. I have boxes of Kleenex everywhere and sleep very little because I cannot sleep. Allergist has put me on all sorts of combos of meds. I saw an ENT who said everything looks good. I do the saline nasal cleanse, Zyrtec twice a day and two nasal sprays twice a day.
Avatar f tn A weeks worth of antibiotics sometimes doesn't work for a sinus infection, because there isn't much bloodflow to deliver the antibiotic to the infection site. Besides, sinus infection fits a different medical model, than say, an ear infection. My journal explains it. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn My ENT says I have vasomotor rhinitis. I irrigate with pulmacort respules and take singulair, 2 different steroid inhalers (one through the nose), and 2400 mg. a day of mucinex. I even did a 2 month trial of methotrexate (low dose chemotherapy). Nothing works. I am having problems only on the right side. My last CT scan was clear, after 42 days of prednisone and 2 rounds of Levaquin. Then I got a cold and I am back to square one.
Avatar f tn He said that he must have gotten some sort of virus and it triggered his asthma. He told me to continue his Singulair, Pulmicort Respules one time a day, Xopenex in the nebulizer every four hours, and he prescribed Prednisone two times per day (dr. said to start the steroid only if the cough does not slow down). So on Wednesday morning, my son woke up at 6:30am coughing non-stop....coughing so much that he vomited!
Avatar f tn I've had the feeling of a popcorn kernel in what I thought was my tonsil, for over a year. No real pain most of the time, just extremely irritating and makes every swallow throughout the day noticeable and over exaggerated. Sometimes it becomes painful and feels as though there is something sharp, and have an earache and warmth but no fever. About three times it even felt like something was about to come out. I saw an ENT in the summer of 2016.
407812 tn?1211307057 You could also try nasal irrigation. You can get a nasal irrigation squeeze bottle at the grocery store in the medicine isle. There's one called NeilMed. I find that it helps to wash out the pollens and gunk and make breathing a little bit better. But go to the doctor and find out if there are other medicines like nasal sprays or inhalers that could help you. I use the nasonex nasal spray and advai inhaler and really like both of them.
Avatar m tn For about 6 months now, I have had a distorted sense of smell. I had a severe cold (bronchitis) last October. Since then, common smells (bread, peanut butter, coffee, exhaust fumes, poop) all smell the same to me. The smell I get is somewhere between burnt popcorn and burnt sugar. My doctor put me on a course of antibiotics (which didn't seem to help). I've tried the flo brand nasal irrigation pump (which doesn't help).
Avatar f tn You may try a new nasal irrigation product with anti-backflow valves - to avoid backflow contamination and its problems. www.nasalcleanse.
Avatar n tn Aside from avoiding the triggers, have you tried nasal irrigation? It utilizes a buffered hypertonic saline solution that helps reduce swollen and congested nasal and sinus tissues. Non-prescription nasal sprays can also be used frequently and are very convenient to use.
552173 tn?1282603290 Therapeutic measures range from the medicinal to the traditional and may include nasal irrigation or jala neti using a warm saline solution, hot drinks including tea and chicken soup, over-the-counter decongestants and nasal sprays, and getting plenty of rest.
Avatar n tn I found a cure in nasal lavage (sinus washing) this can be done with over the counter nasal saline sprays or they make sinus irrigation instruments and Nettio Pots to keep the sinus moist and clean and unplugged. For me truly a miracle. Before I was on Afrin and steroid nasal spays and oral antibiotics each year. Go to WebMD and read about sinus lavage treatment.
Avatar m tn Maybe try nasal irrigation- gentle and safe. Cleared my infected sinuses. www.neilmed.
