Pulmicort respules dosage for adults

Common Questions and Answers about Pulmicort respules dosage for adults

symbicort

Avatar m tn My doctor prescribed Pulmicort Respules and gave me a Neilmed irrigator to apply the dose. Do I fill the Neilmed with water and pour the respule in the water and mix, and then apply? Or do I just put one respule in the irrigator and irrigate without diluting? There are no directions...I'm guessing that I dilute the solution but does that impact efficacy?
Avatar f tn Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.
Avatar f tn I have had a croaky voice for almost 2 months now. I have recently changed my preventor from flixotide to pulmicort as when I was on flixotide I was finding that I felt like I had to take deep breaths all the time. Once I swapped preventors it improved and has now been approximately 4 months and has come back. I feel like I have to yawn all the time to get a deep breath in. I have also had a croaky voice for nearly 2 months and can't figure out why.
Avatar f tn He said that he must have gotten some sort of virus and it triggered his asthma. He told me to continue his Singulair, Pulmicort Respules one time a day, Xopenex in the nebulizer every four hours, and he prescribed Prednisone two times per day (dr. said to start the steroid only if the cough does not slow down). So on Wednesday morning, my son woke up at 6:30am coughing non-stop....coughing so much that he vomited!
Avatar f tn Supplements that increase his immune system may also help (although talk to his doctor before starting any to ensure the proper dosage for a child). Vitamin D is a major one, especially if you live in north america and have poor sunshine access during the winter, NAC (N-acetyl cysteine) is also a supplement that helps thin the mucus and has been shown to reduce the symptoms of colds and flu (although I'm not sure if it is child-friendly). Vitamin C and B complex are also suppose to help.
Avatar f tn Advair diskus 250 was lasting two weeks for (4 puffs a day) and pulmicort for $15 more, had 200 doses and I was only using 2 a day because it was 400ug instead of 250. The best is to go and ask a pharmicist to look up the prices for you.
Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
Avatar f tn The second attack caused him to be hospitalized during treatment because he was not responding well to 3 doses of albuterol via nebulizer and had low oxygen sat. (88%). Both of the epsiodes occured during a cold/virus. My Dr. is reccomending a once daily pulmicort treatment for prevention purposes. I am a little hesitant to be giving him this at such a young age and only a short time of displaying these symtoms.
Avatar n tn For ulcer treatment, Amoxil is combined with other medications. There are several dosage regimens available, and your doctor will choose the best one for you. If your kidneys are severely impaired or you are undergoing hemodialysis, the doctor may have to adjust your dosage accordingly. Children older than 3 months: Children weighing 88 pounds and over should follow the recommended adult dose schedule. Children weighing under 88 pounds will have their dosage determined by their weight.
746512 tn?1388807580 I am already using 800mcg of pulmicort a day and even at that level it has been giving me muscle cramps and messing up my period, so I don't want to increase it. Any comments? Or things I could try?
Avatar f tn My 2 year old son acquired severe RSV at 6 weeks old. Ever since then he now has virally induced asthma. So he's been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out. Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away.
907968 tn?1292622204 I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.
Avatar f tn Your doctors can prescribe a daily inhaler that will prevent asthma attacks. The only category B prevention inhaler is Pulmicort, I take that along with Claritin, and singular to control my asthma. All are category B and safe. we are the same almost as far along as each other I am 34 weeks this wed. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I am having trouble finding out what is a safe maximum dosage of Diamox for psuedotumor cerebri. When I had asked my daughters neurologist this question, she said there is no maximum dosage which I found hard to believe that there wouldn't be a max dose on any medication. My daughter is 15 yrs old and had been prescribed a total of 2500 mg per day divided into 3 doses. Does anyone know the max dose for diamox? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I’ve read that the average dosage for adults is 30 mg/day. I’m a 25 year old male. I weigh 220 lbs. and am 5’11”. The only other medication I’m on is 100 mg of Zoloft/day for the treatment of depression. I have no prior medical issues. What would be the appropriate dosage range for me if I were to take this medication? I’ve read that it may have negative effects on the heart. I’m considering talking with my PCP about this but am trying to find out on my own first. Would 60 mg/day be too much?
Avatar m tn but it just wasnt cutting it the past year for her, and needed to advance to something else, but for many years it worked pretty good. She initally experience the rapidness but it subsided. Now she is on the symbicort and hates that it is a powdery- like substance, and is still experiencing wheezing. I think that majority of the controller inhalers do cause some jitteryness at first, and definitely the rescue inhalers do.
746512 tn?1388807580 Change of weather can trigger an asthma attack. It caused allegries, sinus problems, headache, wheezing, feeling of tiredness, sinus pressure, etc. What has help is monthly injections and or over the counter allergy medication (Claritin). Everyone is different, but yes, humidity can and for me a dense fog sent me to the emergency room for over 10 hours.
Avatar f tn t work for me, even at the highest dose. i got put on pulmicort and foradil that did wonders for me and last month i got put on symbicort which is a combo of the pulmicort and foradil. Maybe symbicort would not cause you these symptoms?
Avatar f tn Oh, my, MB, THIS is where you belong! For sure, for sure! For one thing so many of us already know you. For another, Autoimmune Encephalitis is the closest mimic to MS that is known. So we here are going through very much what you are going through. We already have 2 others here as permanent members who have been diagnosed with ADEM (Acute Disseminated EncephaloMyelitis). Santana is one and I can't remember right off the other. So we talk about it all the time.
Avatar n tn my 14 weeks baby girl weighing 12 pounds spits up at least 3 to 4 times every feed (4 feeds per day) and she burps many times as well and she gets all cranky and fussy while burping or spitting.. She doesn't cry excessively but she just seems annoyed and we need to keep distracting her..
Avatar f tn it was a 20 mg tablet twice daily only for 3 days? i had bloodwork done and they said it came back abnormal. i go the 14 to have an ultra sound and then the 15 to have a second ultrasound at uav? anything from anyone that has been in this situation before?
Avatar f tn You can use safely up to 8 puffs/day. I have done it for a long time, but my doctor switched me over to pulmicort 400ug x 4 puffs/day and Oxeze 12ug x 3 puffs/day. These two inhalers are the same components that are in Symbicort, but in stronger dosage. I feel at this dosage I don't have what I call mild asthma symptoms all day long that interfere with your daily life.
Avatar n tn I have an 8 year old son that takes pulmicort, and just finished Orapred when I noticed a little bump in the back of his head. He scratches it alot, and I was told by the doctor to put cortizone on it. Because he had asthma, he more than likely had eczema. About a week later, his little bump turned into a big knot, and you can see it if he turns to the side. It itches more now that it has gotten bigger. I don't think it is eczema, but who am I? I am not a doctor.
