I keep a daily track of my mood and so forth. My doc told me you can be in a psychotic phase and still know it if you are bipolar. If you are fully manic you don't know it. This is just from my experiences. I hope this helps a little.

I am not on any other medication, and yet I keep on gaining weight. Does all the anti psychotic make you gain weight? Is there any anti psychotic that doesn't make you gain weight?

Dont know - i went nearly 15 years not on meds and i thought i was fine until I wasnt and went psychotic manic, so you might be fine for a long time as well. And I wasnt fine, I was hypomanic and looking back had at least 3 mini breakdowns and burnouts in that time.

I think that bipolar disorder can be with or without psychotic features. Since you seem to be having some psychosis then I would say you have it with. I think they have to observe you over time to get an acurate diagnosis. Therefor you would have to meet the diagnostic creiteria outlined in the DSM IV to recieve a diagnosis.

14 years old is indeed young but it might be psychotic episodes or something somehow leading to bi-polarity as it could be and it is very likely, that is is schizo but at this age who knows if she's just shizotypal or schizoid, well you wanna know if it's a personality disorder or a psychotic disorder. In females real psychotic disorders tend to appear later than in men, who are starting to get symptoms between adolescence and early adulthood.

I do know that for schizoaffective disorder delusions and psychosis occur at all times whereas in bipolar with psychotic features they occur only during moodswings. You can speak to your psychiatrist about this but also keep a mood tracker and print out the results for your psychiatrist as that can be markedly helpful as well.

Yes, Risperdal or resperidone is an anti-psychotic. It can be prescribed for bipolar disorder. I sometimes use rxlist.com if I want to check out a med.

m assuming the antipsychotic is or the psychotic episodes you had and hallucinations. Glad you are treating that. If I go to the bathroom before the event where I will have the urge to go takes place, I know my bladder is not truly full. So this gives me the confidence to talk myself through it. And once I get going into the activity or event, I kind of forget about the urge. Talk to your doctor about this though as it is become overwhelming to you. Let us know how it goes!

Have you posted this on the expert forum? A doctor would be the best person to ask. I think Abilify tends to help with psychotic features. When I started on antidepressants my doctor gave me abilify to give me relief from my depression/psychotic features while I waited for the antidepressant to work. It seemed like a quick fix but I was never interested in long-term use because of the side effects.
