On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. Not every breakdown is psychotic. I had a complete mental breakdown about 16 years ago or so which lead to 3 years of crushing depression - my illness course leaves me prone to this type of breakdown. However not being on meds? Dont know - i went nearly 15 years not on meds and i thought i was fine until I wasnt and went psychotic manic, so you might be fine for a long time as well. And I wasnt fine, I was hypomanic and looking back had at least 3 mini breakdowns and burnouts in that time.

My pdoc yesterday told me it's possible to have a psychotic break from too severe anxiety. This scares me bad, what is that? Does that mean I'll go crazy and hurt someone? Myself? Hi everyone, I never really posted much on here but I've had baby boy #4 called Harvie. Mild contractions were on and off from Friday at 5pm then after a long walk with my other half on Saturday afternoon to get things moving became regular having 3-5 contractions in 10-15 minutes intervals. He weighs a whopping 9lb 8oz, but is in NNU due to ingesting some meconium and it affecting his breathing. The docs are doing a fab job and he's doing well so should get reunited with him soon.

They found that I was allergic to 15 different things. However this may or may not be causing the problem. I may not be exposed to these allergens. I now know I always had behavior that was unusual and somewhat abnormal since I was a child, first started having psychotic thoughts when I was 13 and then at the age of 18 had a full psychotic break. I never really felt like myself until I started that treatment in clinical study but once I did could look back and see that I always had behavior patterns and obsessions that were markedly abnormal.

Hypomania is distinguished from mania by the absence of psychotic symptoms. In other words if there are psychotic features its mania. BP2's can get psychotic features in mania the same as anyone does. Is this what you are referring to on the Black Dog Site ?

t have any children. Reunited with my beau after 16 years apart ... neither one of us got married or had any children and we are so desperately wanting JUST one - that's all we ask for = ) Went through all the typical fertility testing - Im healthy as can be - just AMA as they like to say. I think that bipolar disorder can be with or without psychotic features. Since you seem to be having some psychosis then I would say you have it with. I think they have to observe you over time to get an acurate diagnosis. Therefor you would have to meet the diagnostic creiteria outlined in the DSM IV to recieve a diagnosis.
