Both my grandmother and uncle was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Both had paranoid delusions. My uncle was not the norm. He was diagnosed in late onset. They consider if you are past the age of 45 years of age it is late onset, but I believe that he had the illness a lot longer, and just "self medicated" until it didn't work anymore. They both did not suffer with any neurological symptoms, and my grandmother had a good MRI.

i was taken off lithium 2 yrs ago because it was affecting my lithium--then i had a psychotic break and was hospitalized for over 8 wks. since then no meds have worked well for me and i was started on ect which has continued at intervals, now once every 2 wks. i feel the ect is helping me but is destroying my memory, both short and long term. now the doc wants to put me back on low dose lithium along with a med to protect my kidneys and monitor them closely.

i hallucinated and heard voices because of very stressful high anxiety. if you realize it's anxiety, then thats what it is. schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder. When you're psychotic you don't know what's real and what's not. The fact that you can separate reality and dellusions means you're not schizophrenic.

So as of this very second I am very stable. For me that's a miracle. I do not respond to meds. If they work, they only work for short periods of time then i'm at square one, which is dangerous. I'm BP1 with psychotic features. I have been diagnosed for 11 years and each year it gets worse. Lithium and Geodon help the best but only to a certain degree so i'm stuck taking A LOT of other meds with it. My next step is ECT.

Donnie, if I was going to retreat with peg & riba, I wouldn't think twice about pre-dosing the riba. I inadvertently took two weeks of riba before starting the peg with my tx. Infergen is notorious for pulling the the reds and whites down quickly and by your last tx it looks like the whites took a bit hit and tanked quickly. It's not the riba that pulls the whites down, it's the interferon. If you pre-dose the riba, just make sure you have Procrit and Neup ready to go.

I think that if you check into the Health Dept., that they may be able to advise you on that. Florida is not known for having good resources for people on SSI and SSDI. I am not currently on SSI, but I do have SSDI. Until SSDI, I am on Medicare as opposed to Medicaid. However, my son used to have SSI when he was living with me, for a different reason and we had the same problem with getting physicians who would see him. Unfortunately, there are few and far between on that.

Hey Donnie. Im not sure waht Bontril is, but I know she should not stop the xanax 'cold turkey'.. that needs to be tapered. As far as the hydrocodone, she should be safe stopping cold turkey.. keep her hydrated, well fed. She will feel sick for about 5 days - flu like symptoms (aches, pains, runny nose, restless legs, hot/cold flashes, sweating, stomach problems) and then start to feel better...

m also nervous being on an anti-psychotic because in 2006 a psychiatrist at the hospital where my son was born put me on an anti-psychotic. I don't remember the name of it. Well, it gave me panic attacks like you wouldn't believe. I was either jittery or my whole body would just freeze up and I can't even explain the intensity or how it felt. On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. Not every breakdown is psychotic. I had a complete mental breakdown about 16 years ago or so which lead to 3 years of crushing depression - my illness course leaves me prone to this type of breakdown. However not being on meds? Dont know - i went nearly 15 years not on meds and i thought i was fine until I wasnt and went psychotic manic, so you might be fine for a long time as well. And I wasnt fine, I was hypomanic and looking back had at least 3 mini breakdowns and burnouts in that time.

My pdoc yesterday told me it's possible to have a psychotic break from too severe anxiety. This scares me bad, what is that? Does that mean I'll go crazy and hurt someone? Myself? Saying no one likes him, that he has no friends, that everyone is mean to him. He also has infrequent but what I think are psychotic rages/tantrums. Last night was the worst. I looked in your profile but didn't see what your liver damage is. What was your beginning VL and when did you clear. What was your VL at 12 weeks -- it is those with VL under 6000 that may benefit from extended treatment. What has your ANC been during tx. The fact that you are taking Neupogen 3x a week leads me to belive you are cirrhotic or close to it.
