Avatar m tn A year ago had large nodule biopsied on thyroid. came back negative. Dr. said continue to get it checked regularily. In last 1 1/2 months I have following symptoms; tingling face, legs arms, muscle twitching mostly face legs arms but some all over, weakness in legs and shaking and clumsieness, balance issues. Tingling prticularly distracting. I am afraid to go to doc as I am also "at risk" for Huntington's disease. Many of these symptoms seem similar to both.
Avatar f tn Does anyone out there have both Fibromyalgia & Huntington's Disease? Or any movement disorder? I feel like the only person in the world to have both & I need advice or just to relate, I have severe Fibromyalgia and the more I physically move my body, even minimal exertion from daily living causes my intense body wide pain to become unbearable. 8 used to be able to get a little relief by resting my muscles completely by laying flat for hours or days to recover from the worst days.
Avatar n tn Chorea is not the most common presenting sign in MS. Has Huntington's disease been looked into? Have you had a spinal tap? Evoked Potentials?
Avatar n tn Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! The involuntary movements in your right index finger could be due to use of vibratory tools. This collectively causes Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome or HAVS. Injury to motor component of nerves can also cause involuntary movements of the hand/finger. Pinched spinal nerve at lower cervical vertebrae too can be a cause.
Avatar m tn Sorry for no family tree. Because I don't know how to upload attached files. My feeling of this patients is GSS or Huntington's disease. I did gene analysis for these two disease related genes (PRNP for GSS and HD1 and HD2 for Huntington's Disease ). Unfortunately, I did not find any problems with these genes. Another thing I should mentioned is almost all the accessorial examination including regular blood panel and CSF are normal.
Avatar m tn Hi All, I have two questions. I have been going through the diagnostic stage for HCV for 4-5 months now. And this is where I'm at. HCV positive and active Genotype 1A VL 22,750,000 Ultrasound: appeared to be clear Cat Scan: Seen something the report states but could not rule whatever they was looking for in or out. Biopsy: Scheduled this week (my hepatologist said it was unnecessary as he could tell what stage I was in through blood work) I made that decision myself.
Avatar m tn I have obviously been dx with hcv. As well many of you probably already know I've been dx with Huntington's Disease. With that said I know how long I have based on family history with HD. With hcv I'm at stage 3 liver disease (fibrosis) no traces of cirrhosis at this point. I was told to get to the next stage is anywhere between 3 - 5 years. So, this is my question.

Avatar n tn Hi! Like all drugs, Carbi-levo can also cause side effects. This could include anorexia, nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure, dizziness, chest pain, muscle cramps, body aches, itch etc. If you are feeling some of these symptoms then please consult your doctor. Parkinson’s disease is one cause for involuntary movements of the body both localized and generalized.
Avatar f tn I am currently recovering from a severe depression with suicide ideation in which i apparently had psychotic symptoms. Has anyone else had psychosis without knowing what it was until speaking to your therapist about what was going on? and does anyone have any advice as to what to look for in oneself when psychosis starts?
Avatar n tn Huntington's disease is a disorder passed down through families in which nerve cells in the brain waste away, or degenerate. Symptoms * Abnormal and unusual movements o Head turning to shift eye position Uhm.. How far is "head turning" I didn't really think about this till I read it, but my head does move slightly when I shift my eyes.. but that's normal.. right? o Facial movements, including grimaces don't think so.
Avatar m tn I'm 16 years old and i get migraines at least 3 times a week. Could it be due to stress? My mother has been diagnosed with Huntington's disease, so I'm guessing that would be the cause....but almost half the week with migraines is kind of scaring me.
Avatar m tn Hi! I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. Parkinson’s disease is one cause for involuntary movements of the body both localized and generalized. The other possible causes are systemic lupus erythematosus or lupus, polycythemia rubra vera, anti-cardiolipin antibody syndrome, stroke or transient ischemic attack, thyroid disease, and disorders of calcium, glucose or sodium metabolism. Rare causes include Sydenham's chorea, Huntington's disease, and Wilson's disease.
Avatar m tn My mom recently died from it though and I think I inherited it. Her dad died from the same disease too. my dad said that the test results of if she really had hd were negative but she had all the symptoms. Or could it possibly be she had another disease? And I think I read that like the more it's passed, the earlier in age the symptoms occur. I am only 17, does it ever come on this young?
Avatar f tn You sound like you might have myoclonus. I had this symptom..mine was myoclonic jerks that came out of nowhere and jolted the bejesus out of me. This only happened at night; it was one of my many symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency. And yes you can have symptoms with B12 in "normal" range sad to say. Been there done that! Although eventually over many decades my B12 went below the range. I take sublingual B12 spray daily for my autoimmune pernicious anaemia.
Avatar m tn Look up Shy-Drager disease and Huntington's. I hope you have neither, but you should read up on them.
Avatar f tn No response...signing off. My best to everyone with health issues.
Avatar m tn s Disease. Are these symptoms just normal anxiety symptoms or something more? Every time I go to the doctor, I feel as if they are thinking, "oh not this guy again", but I feel like if I had an MRI or something like that I would feel much better. I live in Ontario, Canada and was wondering if it costs money, and how I can manage to get one done?
1965148 tn?1354978634 Hey Elinah, I have experienced two psychotic manic episodes after being put on antidepressants. They both lasted at least a week. It started out as a feeling of increased euphoria, racing thoughts, confidence boost, insomnia and impulsiveness. These symptoms progressed and got more intense as time went on, and after a few days my thoughts began to turn sinister. I started having hallucinations and hearing voices telling me to kill myself and others.
Avatar f tn Not every breakdown is psychotic. I had a complete mental breakdown about 16 years ago or so which lead to 3 years of crushing depression - my illness course leaves me prone to this type of breakdown. However not being on meds? Dont know - i went nearly 15 years not on meds and i thought i was fine until I wasnt and went psychotic manic, so you might be fine for a long time as well. And I wasnt fine, I was hypomanic and looking back had at least 3 mini breakdowns and burnouts in that time.
Avatar f tn My ex-sister in law has Huntington's. She is and has always been a selfish, self-absorbed, lying, scheming, person with no ethics. She had two daughters with my brother. Prior to that, she had a son when she was a teenager and gave the baby up to live with his paternal grandmother. All children are basically adults now. The two daughters are now aware that this disease runs in the family and they have a chance of getting it.
