1965148 tn?1354978634 Hey Elinah, I have experienced two psychotic manic episodes after being put on antidepressants. They both lasted at least a week. It started out as a feeling of increased euphoria, racing thoughts, confidence boost, insomnia and impulsiveness. These symptoms progressed and got more intense as time went on, and after a few days my thoughts began to turn sinister. I started having hallucinations and hearing voices telling me to kill myself and others.

But there are many other conditions that can cause symptoms of dementia, including some that are reversible, such as thyroid problems and vitamin deficiencies. Dementia is often incorrectly referred to as "senility" or "senile dementia," which reflects the formerly widespread but incorrect belief that serious mental decline is a normal part of aging.

I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
1649932 tn?1348082640 Risperidone is normally perscribed for irritability associated with autism, bipolar disorder, mania and schizophrenia. It is also perscribed for acute psychosis, agitation, ADHD, dementia, psychotic depression and Tourette's symdrome. Nowhere is it recommended for treating social anxiety. Bear in mind that I am NOT a doctor, so maybe there ARE reasons I'm unaware of for his choice of treatment, but my initial reaction is that you are being rather overmedicated for social anxiety.
Avatar f tn Because of the dementia she does not remember the cancer diagnosis. I wonder if that is what keeps her going. Her dementia is now stage 5, well into the moderate stages. In my opinion the dementia is what she will eventually die from not the cancer or the COPD. Her Drs gave her 6 months to live 2 1/2 years ago. Her only continued symptoms are a cough and getting winded on exertion. She won't do oxygen or her nebulizer. Like I said, very slow decline.
