Common Questions and Answers about Psychotic symptoms bpd

psychotic

Avatar f tn Did your son have any physical symptoms in addition to his BPD? Also, the brain cyst is related. Arachnoid cysts have been known to cause psychosis, depression, anxiety and other mental health maladies. You should look up the term on wikipedia, the Mayo Clinic database, and elsewhere.
915369 tn?1355314810 With severe depression you can have psychotic features. Also, with bpd, when you get extremely stressed you may experience transient psychotic stuff too. This is short-lived and you should be OK at reality testing (which makes it different from other psychotic disorders). You could try looking the diagnoses up in the dsm-iv. That may help you better understand what the disorder is comprised of.
6726276 tn?1421126668 m full blown psychotic. Only had a psychotic break once, but I believe that was the peak of mania, then my clinical depression set in, and ultimately was catatonic. So, I'm trying to let my OCD explore more. It helps channel the ADHD and avoid BPD and/or psychosis. For me, it is all bipolar, treatment is the same for me, no matter what I call each mood.
Avatar f tn I know I have psychotic problems as well and cannot do without psychotic meds. I find life to be almost unbearable in the mornings and I dread nights. I hope none of the rest of you go thru this. I know longer know what I have mentally and feel lost. Don't worry, I am not actively suicidal, just keep my options open for the time when I run out of available meds and have to go unmedicated.
Avatar f tn I am currently recovering from a severe depression with suicide ideation in which i apparently had psychotic symptoms. Has anyone else had psychosis without knowing what it was until speaking to your therapist about what was going on? and does anyone have any advice as to what to look for in oneself when psychosis starts?
Avatar m tn 5 Finding the right combination of meds can be a discouraging process but, thanks to the professional expertise of a psychiatrist, a clinical psychologist or, perhaps, a psychologist, assistance is available to sufferers from BPD. In my case I had a psychiatrist who has specialized for over three decades in working with people who have BPD. I feel I am on the right meds, as medications are often called colloquially. I am not inclined to tempt fate and try some other package, at least not yet.
Avatar m tn no one can tell you besides the government. i can tell you its very hard, I am a severe depressive with psychotic features, mild anxiety and BPD. and they gave me medicaid but said that i can have a job just not one where i work around the public.
Avatar n tn I had a school counselor who would try to diagnose me with everything (maybe you have bpd, maybe you have OCD, maybe you have ADHD) and then when I told her the diagnosis I had from my doctor (PTSD, psychosis) then she would try to dismiss it and re-diagnose me. She would also tell other students my very specific problems and then get angry / yell at me when I told her I don't want medication. This has stopped a year ago, but I found out she does the exact same thing to other students.
Avatar f tn Jaquta - I'm not sure what I'll do if I don't like the results from the psych consult. I suppose I could just continue treatment with my primary physician, as I think he could manage my complaints. I have looked up the dsm-iv for bipolar disorder, and it definitely doesn't match my complaints.
Avatar f tn The presence of these disorders sometimes make BPD symptoms more intense and more difficult to treat and they appear to increase the risk of suicide, but not in my case. I will deal with suicidal ideation later in this statement. This account is about BPD and by a person with BPD and it only ventures into these several other psychiatric illnesses and personality disorders to a limited extent and only from time to time when it seems relevant. 1.12.
Avatar m tn I have had mental issues my whole life. My Dr. started prescribing me atidepressants & Ativan about 13 yrs ago. Over the yrs. I've been on & off many atidepressants, went to several Phyciatrists & the dose of the Ativan ended up @ 1mg 3 x day. The outcome has been I had 3 suicide attempts & ended up in a mental inpatient for a wk. At this point I'm off the Ativan (thank God) and on an antidepressent. I've beed diagnosed w/ depression, anxiety & bpd.
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with BPD tho i'm not sure i fit exactly. My most disruptive symptom is that i become obsessed with people almost to the point of stalking them, searching for them on the internet, going to places i'll no they'll be. There always aquantances such as my gym instructor, my doctor, and are always of th same sex as me. Does anyone else have these types of obsessions either with or without BPD?
Avatar f tn My son has been diagnosed with ADHD since 3. He is now 11. He also might have BPD. He's been on numerous medications to control the mood disorder (more difiant than anything) and ADHD. He is currently taking Abilify and Vyvanse. We have good days and bad. He's always been kind of afraid to be alone, particularly at night. Sometimes he wants to sleep with me (divorced Mom), but I tell him he's too old to sleep with his mama.
Avatar f tn A person can have both conditions, yet manifest only the symptoms of one disorder at a time-- or multiple symptoms of both disorders at once. The BPD, however, seems to be able to go into remission periods, similar to those remissions of cancer patients, whereas no symptoms occur for extended periods of time. BOTH BPI and BPII & BPD can be "controlled " fairly effectively for many patients-- with medications and/or psychotherapy...
Avatar f tn I would seek a second opinion. Many of the symptoms of PTSD overlap with BPD. You may want to think of finding a new doctor also. 10 years is a long, long time to see one doctor. Just from what you wrote, the doctor seems to have an ego trip. One that hinders the care of his patients. I have BPD, have had episodes of violence, and extreme anxiety. The anxiety can have the feel of paranoia.
Avatar n tn PTSD can have similar symptoms of BPD, which is common. Your PTSD could be masking actual BPD, but your BPD symptoms could very well be just symptoms of PTSD. I think I have studied and researched PTSD more than most doctors lol, I needed to so I could support my husband. He is also on Celexa but he is on 30mg and he is on 1000mg of Depricote. My husbands PTSD even masked his Sleep Apnea symptoms..which is rare but can occur. I will be praying for you and your journey through life.
Avatar m tn I also was diagnosed with major depressive disorder, ADHD and anxiety/panic disorders a while ago, but I’ve been taking medications for them and don’t suffer from my previous BPD symptoms (although I do have problems with disassociating now).
1192491 tn?1265031829 I have been diagnoised with Bipolar I as my symptoms have changed. over the last few years. Is it possible to progress from BPD to Bipolar I?
1965148 tn?1354978634 Hey Elinah, I have experienced two psychotic manic episodes after being put on antidepressants. They both lasted at least a week. It started out as a feeling of increased euphoria, racing thoughts, confidence boost, insomnia and impulsiveness. These symptoms progressed and got more intense as time went on, and after a few days my thoughts began to turn sinister. I started having hallucinations and hearing voices telling me to kill myself and others.
696943 tn?1229366600 They may feel unfairly misunderstood or mistreated, bored, empty, and have little idea who they are. Such symptoms are most acute when people with BPD feel isolated and lacking in social support, and may result in frantic efforts to avoid being alone.
1618236 tn?1408072214 I have lost 4 jobs in the past 3 years not able to hold down responsibilities as having fears and phobias while working. Can anyone tell me if these symptoms go along with BPD? I am currently taking Doxepin 100 mg and Trazodone 100 mg for depression and anxiety. Oh yes, I am having alot fatigue also during the daytime from the meds. I also am experiencing bad dreams at night. Is this normal for BPD to have all these symptoms that I am experiencing ?
Avatar f tn I'm sorry to hear about your hurt. I've gone through it myself with family and friends. Alot of it is fear, and the other is that they just can't deal with it because of fear or a lot of misconceptions on how much effort they have to put out in the friendship, how it's going to reflect on them to associate with a person who they see as a "potential problem," etc. etc. There are a lot of bad reasons.
Avatar f tn Doesn't particularly sound like bipolar disorder with the symptoms you describe as they are vague, general symptoms that could be signs of anything from an anger issue to other things.
Avatar f tn I'm about to be evaluated for bipolar disorder but my worst fear is to be misdiagnosed again. The psych I'm about to see is supposedly a specialist with bipolar. (I'm very distrusting of doctors mind you.) Can anyone tell me from experience if they look at the possibility of personality disorders like BPD while evaluating for bipolar disorder?
Avatar f tn Hey guys, I don't know whether I have bipolar or borderline personality disorder.
