Avatar f tn I have a son that is 9 and he is taking Aderall and Risperdol. Diagnosis is PTSD and ADHD. He has been taking it for about 3 years. Has any one experienced any negative side affects from either of these prescription drugs or any positive or negative input on them to share?

585414 tn?1288941302 My psychiatrist just told me I have paranoid schizophrenia and PTSD and I never thought to ask the difference because I thought the two were quite different. I was told the reason they probably didn't diagnose me with schizoaffective disorder and PTSD instead was because the PTSD can cause you to get sad for no reason (which I overcame that without the help of medication and I get AWSUM now instead of getting sad) and now I know I mistook my anxiety for depression.
144586 tn?1284666164 s amazing how they feel a veteran should not be allowed to get a firearm when they have proven in WAR THAT THEY ARE THE MOST RESPONSIBLE PERSON IN THE US TO CARRY ONE AND ARE BEYOND CAREFUL! PTSD IS SEEING SOMETHING THAT IS EXTREMELY SHOCKING TO A SOLDIER AND ANYONE GOING THRU A SHOCKING EXPERIENCE. LESS THEN 3% OF THE US POPULATION CAN LIVE WITH THE FACT OF HAVING TO KILL SOMEONE, EVEN IN WAR THIS IS WHY MOST SOLDIERS HAVE PTSD.
16700471 tn?1451413152 what you said here is that some of what you described is symptoms of PTSD remembering flashbacks I become psychotic someone special to me had this happen to them around the same age she is violent destructive and hypersexual.
Avatar f tn Yes you can have PTSD and any mental illness for that matter for years and not know it. It's not like you're immediately informed of your condition when you develop any disorder. PTSD can also have some psychotic symptoms, they aren't just exclusive to things like schizophrenia.
Avatar f tn My Psych. has me on all three, plus Klonopin, am not getting anybetter and refuse to take anti-psychotic meds.
Avatar f tn The doctor said she has PTSD but it's not really psychotic i know she has something there and she was sexually abused from 6-12 years old she told the police when she was 13 so...That had a huge inpact.
Avatar n tn Are you saying that you have symptoms of PTSD, and you believe it was triggered, or caused by adrenal insufficiency that is the result of head trauma? I do believe that traumatic stress can be a result of existing adrenal insufficiency. My son had a lot of stress, prior to being diagnosed with secondary adrenal insufficiency ( as a result of a pituitary cyst ). He has been on hydrocortisone for almost 2 years, and rarely feels the type of stress he had before the diagnosis.
10259802 tn?1408880707 The big thing is to sit down with him when he is in a good mood and sober and tell him what you need from him. Tell him what you need him to do for the baby don't say for you or him. Get him thinking about how his actions are affecting his relationship with the baby already.

Avatar f tn I am currently recovering from a severe depression with suicide ideation in which i apparently had psychotic symptoms. Has anyone else had psychosis without knowing what it was until speaking to your therapist about what was going on? and does anyone have any advice as to what to look for in oneself when psychosis starts?
Avatar n tn I had a school counselor who would try to diagnose me with everything (maybe you have bpd, maybe you have OCD, maybe you have ADHD) and then when I told her the diagnosis I had from my doctor (PTSD, psychosis) then she would try to dismiss it and re-diagnose me. She would also tell other students my very specific problems and then get angry / yell at me when I told her I don't want medication. This has stopped a year ago, but I found out she does the exact same thing to other students.

7850965 tn?1524403764 I have been diagnosed with PTSD and Schizophrenia - I have been having flashbacks of my childhood since I was about 30 years old my therapist wants me on medication so she can have me stable when we have our sessions. Why do I need to remember what happened? Is recovering all these suppressed memories really going to help me heal. I feel the damage has been done.
Avatar n tn I only heard of it happening once to another person in my partial hospitalization group many years ago. I had a dissociative episode one time, but it was more like depersonalization. Your experience sounds like the dissociative amnesia that that other person had. He lost time. For myself, I only had it once. It was a long time ago, and I can't really remember the circumstances. I believe it lasted for 2 hours but I couldn't really say. I just didn't have a sense of time.

Avatar f tn I feel I’m doing everything I can but failing. I was accuaintance raped last year and ever since I’ve had weird symptoms down there that won’t go away. Ive been to numerous doctors, two sexual health clinics, two gynaecologists who all tell me I’m fine beside the high risk hpv diagnosis. But they all say that the hpv won’t be causing the itching discharge and burning. I’ve only been with my partner of six years-we are still together and I’ve never felt like this before the assult.
