1714202 tn?1352672419 Hey, so my birthday is coming up and a big group of us is going to the casino and I know I'll end up drinking. Does anyone know the interactions with alcohol, lamictal, abilify, and ativan? If they're too serious I'll just tell my boyfriend not to let me drink. Any help would be great!

1510258 tn?1290468781 If in some way you are aware what is occurring is not real it might potentially be part of anxiety disorder but a psychiatrist would have to make that distinction. Psychosis can occur in depression with psychotic features and sometimes in severe depression and other criteria as well. There is the concern of stigmatization as regards seeing a psychiatrist which is understandable but it would be worthwhile to follow up as they could provide greater help with this.
Avatar n tn Usually it isnt dangerous to stop the opiates but he has so much in his system and then add the alcohol. Alcohol wd by itself can be extremely dangerous. His hallucinations and crazy talk doesnt surprise me but it does scare me. Does he have a close friend that he would listen too?
1965148 tn?1354978634 Hey Elinah, I have experienced two psychotic manic episodes after being put on antidepressants. They both lasted at least a week. It started out as a feeling of increased euphoria, racing thoughts, confidence boost, insomnia and impulsiveness. These symptoms progressed and got more intense as time went on, and after a few days my thoughts began to turn sinister. I started having hallucinations and hearing voices telling me to kill myself and others.
Avatar m tn I recently had several mental meltdowns. I was an alcohol abuser most of my life. Bu last couple years smoked marijauana and k2 / that spice stuff. I do have family issues too. My symptoms are a lot and i was wondering if it could be something besides bi-polar or a combo of stuff. I was smoking k2 daily constantly for couple months recently. I started to want god in my life.
Avatar f tn I dont know how to file this but I have picked up the whole showering with rubbing alcohol on my loofa sponge once a month. I have also noticed that I have also noticed that I have been using it to clean my dishes with too while also using the dish soap. Ughhh I have soooo many OCD's but this one, oh my!!!
Avatar m tn as you say, you might have associated the feelings that the alcohol was giving you to the symptoms of when you had taken mephedrone and this in turn, caused the resultant panic. I can't say for sure, but I would venture an educated guess to say it might've been a psychotic attack but again, I am not fully sure.
Avatar n tn Get your kidney function, parathyroid gland function and adrenal function tests done because these affect the electrolyte balance in the body. Stress, alcohol, caffeine and fatigue all cause similar symptoms. Hence if you take alcohol or coffee then cut this down. Sleep at regular hours and see if it helps. Certain sleep disorders can also be the cause.
933174 tn?1375792553 Keep seeing the p work, psychotic, sort gets me worried. I don't see myself as psychotic. My doctor doesn't think I'm psychotic, I think he just thinks that when I'm very depressed I can get this way. I remember calling my therapist while I was in San Diego on a nightmare vacation, where the whole time I thought I had rabies or something was terriblly wrong with me. I might add, I was also on a medication for birth control called yaz, which I think contributed to the whole thing.
Avatar n tn Their official diagnosis was an acute polymorphic psychotic episode with no signs of schizophrenia. It was a truly awful experience, I believe I nearly died and coming out of it was like waking from a living nightmare. I stopped the meds, and went back to work with a calm & confidence I’d never known before.
Avatar n tn Here is what is going on, let me say right now I have not drunk alcohol for 5 months straight and I have not taken any illegal drugs for 3 months. Just to sum up that, as you'll probably ask that later. I am asking if psychosis exists in bipolar disorder because I have been experiencing episodes that make it difficult to concentrate on anything. I frequently have blackouts, where I honestly cannot remember how I got from point A to point B.
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
Avatar m tn My Psychiatrist is out of town and is unavailable.I have had no psychotic symptoms since 4 months and am also currently on Tegretol as mood stabilizer.
Avatar f tn I take no meds for bipolar, but stopped the occasional drink of alcohol because bipolar and alcohol are not a safe mix. The reason is, I am not totally aware of my moods all the time. I coukd be hypo manic and not know it, have a drink and end up psychotic. Most the time a drink or two is fine, but that one time I am slightly manic and drink makes all the okay nights of drinking not worth it.
Avatar f tn When you start taking an anti-depressant or anti-psychotic drug your symptoms may initially increase before your medicines start to work. You should be observed regularly by your doctor, and tell a friend or family member that you are taking this medication. If you have distressing thoughts or experiences go to your doctor or hospital. It has also been reported that Britney took a mixture of other prescription drugs and alcohol.
Avatar f tn It sounds as though your Mom is having psychotic episodes. That doesn't mean she is "crazy", or will be diagnosed with schizophrenia, or other psychotic illness. Sometimes, certain medications can cause psychotic symptoms, or even effects of certain diseases (when a diabetic's sugar gets VERY high or very low, this can happen). What I am saying is this is definitely something she needs evaluated for.
382594 tn?1266610613 I don't mean to make a joke about it, but before I read your entire note I thought "yes, I've felt anger and rage after taking Librium" -- but that's because I was taking them in rehab (during detox) to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. At that time I felt anger and rage before, during, and after taking Librium -- so I couldn't actually blame it on the pills. I had about the same reaction you did, toward the end of detox.
Avatar m tn im in university so alot of partying goes on and sometimes i do tend to drink alot while on my medications...i have never felt alcohol interfering with their effect on me,when i take the medications i function perfectly when i stop even for one day my head is messed up again.....the maximum effect on me when i drank alcohol and took my mdeications has been low sex drive, once or twice vomitting and sometimes very slight pain in the head...but all these do happen when u drink alot...
Avatar m tn While I'm sure that people with Schizophrenia may experience some of the symptoms you described, that doesn't mean that you have Schizophrenia. Those symptoms can also be caused by Severe Depression. What is your age? It is very, and I mean VERY rare for anyone to develope Schizophrenia after the age of about 20. Depression and Schizophrenia are two very different illnesses.
Avatar f tn Here the person acts out the dreams. If your symptoms still persist, I would advise you to discuss your symptoms with your primary care physician who may then refer you to a sleep specialist for further evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn My daughter has weird symptoms before she gets a migraine headache. She gets a stiff neck or painful ear canal and then gets a strange floating feeling and then her face goes into severe spasms and her tongue swells up and sticks out of her mouth on one side. This time her arms and hands froze. The episode lasts about 4 minutes, everything relaxes for a few minutes, and then it starts again. This time she had 3 full episodes and one small one.
