1360763 tn?1278090069 Thanks very much. They want me to do a "trial" through a lumbar puncture, then, if successful, replace the Dilaudid with this stuff...I'm getting to where I think I'll try it. Would appreciate further discussion: Are people who hve tried this just "making up" the horror stories I've read about psychotic breaks, hallucinations, horrid dreams, etc?
883607 tn?1241847511 ones they accepted this) and reading these crazy rants in a manic/semi-psychotic state. I got quite a reputation and featured readings and was published and the like. But as they say you grow up :.) I still write though. Just differently.
Avatar n tn This is a common problem especially with psychiatrists -- less usually with psychologists. On the other hand, your doctor might be completely wrong about your diagnosis as well -- psychosis cannot be diagnosed by a regular doc and PTSD is often wrongfully diagnosed. If you're psychotic, you might not even know you're ill, so maybe you just wrote the wrong thing.
Avatar f tn I have been reading a lot of horror stories, most of which i have lived with my self. My question - are there any success stories. I also need some in-put on how to get my husband to go get treatment.
222267 tn?1253302210 So as of this very second I am very stable. For me that's a miracle. I do not respond to meds. If they work, they only work for short periods of time then i'm at square one, which is dangerous. I'm BP1 with psychotic features. I have been diagnosed for 11 years and each year it gets worse. Lithium and Geodon help the best but only to a certain degree so i'm stuck taking A LOT of other meds with it. My next step is ECT.
Avatar f tn She prescribed me a anti-psychotic. I heard so many horrible things about this type of medication, like developing permanent neurological problems. I read these horrible stories about doctors prescibing it to infants, why would a baby need a anti-psychotic? I feel like they just give these medications to anyone without a proper diagnoses. I feel like the presription was inappropriate. This is the only doctor I can see because I have no insurance and she is the only state doctor available.
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
1965148 tn?1354978634 can anyone share their experiences with psychotic mania or bipolar with psychotic features? i have no idea where mine are heading but they are here, and they are not backing down.
Avatar m tn my 22 year old son just experienced a psychotic break. I need to understand how he was feeling. Is there anyone who has personally experienced this, and would be willing to describe what you felt? I am desperate to understand what he is going through.
Avatar n tn 5 which I feel fine.. As of late I have been waking up with what my friend believes is psychotic episodes, moments of ultra confusion for me as I usually have no recolection. It is now getting to the point where I could hurt myself as I thrash about and walk into walls. I had a CT Scan which showed no problem. These attacks which I thought where TIA"s (Transient ischaemic attacks) mini strokes if you like proved otherwise..
Avatar f tn Not every breakdown is psychotic. I had a complete mental breakdown about 16 years ago or so which lead to 3 years of crushing depression - my illness course leaves me prone to this type of breakdown. However not being on meds? Dont know - i went nearly 15 years not on meds and i thought i was fine until I wasnt and went psychotic manic, so you might be fine for a long time as well. And I wasnt fine, I was hypomanic and looking back had at least 3 mini breakdowns and burnouts in that time.
Avatar f tn I am currently recovering from a severe depression with suicide ideation in which i apparently had psychotic symptoms. Has anyone else had psychosis without knowing what it was until speaking to your therapist about what was going on? and does anyone have any advice as to what to look for in oneself when psychosis starts?
Avatar m tn My pdoc yesterday told me it's possible to have a psychotic break from too severe anxiety. This scares me bad, what is that? Does that mean I'll go crazy and hurt someone? Myself? Has anyone ever had one of these? Also is there anyone here that has had several months of severe anxiety, then slowly goes back to several months of calm? I'm afraid this feeling will last forever. Just to make sure I'm experiencing this "anxiety" what does it feel like to u all?
Avatar n tn She is 20 years old and in college. Today she told me she felt like she was having a psychotic breakdown. What is this kind of breakdown?
1134609 tn?1269272200 m not going to mess around with another anti-psychotic. The akathesia that they cause me is worse than the depression. So, I guess I am looking for honesty here, not just success stories. I also don't know that it's a medication that I'd need to take long term; with the other ADs, I was pulled off of them cold-turkey and didn't experience any withdrawal issues. The Lamictal helps out with that.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately on the forums all we hear are the horror stories, but the success stories far out weigh the bad. People doing well on medication(s) have no reason to talk about it for the reasons theresa stated. What matters is YOUR experience on medication, as we all respond differently to them. It's often trial and error as to what will work best for us but once we find the right one, it's well worth it! It's working great for you, and we're very happy that it is!
Avatar f tn My daughter (21) was diagnosed mixed bipolar with psychotic features after a suicide attempt 7 months ago. She is currently on 750 Mg Depakote and 300 Mg Seroquel, however, her delusions are still persistent even though her moods seem somewhat stable. I had seen a post by ILADVOCATE about a study he participated in and recovered from schizoafffective disorder. I did read that psychotic symptoms in SD may persist and felt maybe this is what my daughter is.
Avatar f tn I now know I always had behavior that was unusual and somewhat abnormal since I was a child, first started having psychotic thoughts when I was 13 and then at the age of 18 had a full psychotic break. I never really felt like myself until I started that treatment in clinical study but once I did could look back and see that I always had behavior patterns and obsessions that were markedly abnormal.
Avatar n tn The lying is to the point that he lies to everyone. I think he even believes it himself. He portraits stories to benefit himself, if he is at fault in the story for something he did. The fear of intimacy is a BIG problem, but he refuses to get help from a sex therapist because he is scared. He has been going to a counselor for three years but I think it's a waste of time because he lies to her and portraits stories to benefit him. Any suggestions or ideas?
603015 tn?1329862973 Hypomania is distinguished from mania by the absence of psychotic symptoms. In other words if there are psychotic features its mania. BP2's can get psychotic features in mania the same as anyone does. Is this what you are referring to on the Black Dog Site ?
1965148 tn?1354978634 I think that bipolar disorder can be with or without psychotic features. Since you seem to be having some psychosis then I would say you have it with. I think they have to observe you over time to get an acurate diagnosis. Therefor you would have to meet the diagnostic creiteria outlined in the DSM IV to recieve a diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am 20 years old female from Serbia and I suffer from severe anxiety and depression. I came to this site hoping to find some relief and I have read many stories, so I thought I could also share mine and ask some questions. Having been born in a war, from a young age I had strange tendencies similar to those of OCD. Most of them were about my mother dying, so I had to put my left shoe on first if I didn't want her to die and similar.
1044813 tn?1370494406 Hello all, I would like to request the addition of Seroquel (quetiapine) which is an anti-psychotic to the mood tracker. Seroquel is very commonly prescribed for the treatment of both manic and depressive episodes of bipolar disorder.
Avatar m tn Since my psychotic breakdown 10 months ago, I tried lithium and Lamotrogene. I went psychotic on lithium and felt foggy on Lamotrogene. I am 23 months of 250 mgs of methadone and am using CBT and diet so far. I think the meds helped restore my memory and get me stable, but then I stopped improving. It has been since Feb that I am on no meds, been hypo-manic and then had some sanciety attacks for a few days after that. It was tolerable, but I know I go further sometime than I do others.
