Avatar m tn I am suffering from OCD since 9 years and I had taken various types of SSRIs (prescribed by psychiatrists) during last four years I was on a high dose of Lavox with some psychotic drugs and and Clomaphranil. These drugs cause me to have a lot of sleep , I usually sleep about 12-14 hours a day. During these four years I had done nothing, I had not watched any movie,TV show not any game, sports and even had not participate in any type of social activity.
Avatar m tn my 22 year old son just experienced a psychotic break. I need to understand how he was feeling. Is there anyone who has personally experienced this, and would be willing to describe what you felt? I am desperate to understand what he is going through.
Avatar f tn I now know I always had behavior that was unusual and somewhat abnormal since I was a child, first started having psychotic thoughts when I was 13 and then at the age of 18 had a full psychotic break. I never really felt like myself until I started that treatment in clinical study but once I did could look back and see that I always had behavior patterns and obsessions that were markedly abnormal.

Avatar f tn s probably hard to see the other symptoms, she in a psychotic state, there is a fine line between being bi-polar features of psychosis and full on schizophrenia, so they are just probably observing her right now. I hope things smooth out. Unfortunately, these disorders don't go away on their own, like her cousin, the probability of life time meds is likely.
Avatar n tn I am scared to be in that mental state again. When i went to emergency they kept me for 22 days and the diagnosis was psychotic depression. I was taking effexor and zoloft but six months after i was hospitalized out of nowhere i started having visions of me dying, I would hide the knives, and other horrible visions crossed my mind. but I would not harm myself and was crying everytime i saw my children's pictures, a sense of guilt but i could not control the sadness that enveloped me.
142722 tn?1281533616 It could have been psychotic depressive state, but I know that feeling of persisting dysphoria, where you feel that you are losing control, and will not come out of it. It will pass. You will get through.
Avatar n tn In most individuals, it produces a calming effect, though I have seen others in which it has caused a temporary psychotic state characterized by an altered perception of reality and extreme paranoia. What specific actions are you labeling as psychotic, and what condition has he been cleared to use it for?
Avatar n tn This question is complicated by the fact that you apparently are psychotic. If you are, then you need to see your psychiatrist about this and perhaps change medications. A psychiatrist can also tell you what might be safe to take with this drug. Antipsychotics generally affect dopamine, and dopamine controls a lot of our motor functions, so it's often a cause of nerve problems or involuntary movements. If you're not in fact psychotic, you may be on too much drug for what ails you.
222267 tn?1253302210 One time in an extremely manic state and another time in an extremely depressed state I was tired and had the urge to rest (note I had not just taken medication) and I fell asleep and woke up with the mania/depression gone. I asked my psychiatrist years later what had happenned and he said "you were extremely labile", labile meaning suseptable to mood changes at a hair trigger.
585414 tn?1288941302 Dysphoric mania is what is commonly know as a mixed state or mixed epsiode. Ive been there and they are the most dangerous state to be in for a bipolar. You get all the fun stuff - manic energy, deep depression, anger, hallucinations, delusions, paranoia. Ive been there once all the way and it ended up with me in hospital after a suicide attempt - I was psychotic, parnoid and delusional and in a great deal of pain. Treatment.
603015 tn?1329862973 I was fully aware of them and that they were not mine, I also experienced short periods of paranoia ( obviously at the time I beleived it to be true ) and visual hallucinations that I was fully aware was not real. I thought that people in this state would not know that these things were not real can anyone shed some light.
Avatar f tn Husband diagnosed 11 months ago with BP, had a Major Manic Episode (tried to commit suicide), Psychotic/Paranoid for at least 3 months. Was on meds (Risperdal and Depakote) for only 6 months and abruptly stopped. Taking no meds now. He left home 1 months ago. He wanted to separate and there was nothing his family and I could do! The one thing that still Puzzles me is that since he was Psychotic (and of course 'making things up' I wouldn't call them lies...
899491 tn?1243773627 Bipolar with psychotic features is not that rare. When a person has bipolar with psychotic features they have psychosis specifically during moodswings. When a person has schizoaffective as I do they experience psychosis all the time (as I did before my current recovery). The whole spectrum of bipolar to schizophrenia is linked up and they are just learning how.
1037594 tn?1258562179 Telling someone who doesn't have interest anymore to "find something something that interests you" doesn't work here, and is the most circular of arguments. It's like telling someone who doesn't have eyes "find something that can help you see." I've been suffering from a death of interest/anhedonia for the past 2 years now following a psychotic episode.
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
1965148 tn?1354978634 can anyone share their experiences with psychotic mania or bipolar with psychotic features? i have no idea where mine are heading but they are here, and they are not backing down.
Avatar n tn 5 which I feel fine.. As of late I have been waking up with what my friend believes is psychotic episodes, moments of ultra confusion for me as I usually have no recolection. It is now getting to the point where I could hurt myself as I thrash about and walk into walls. I had a CT Scan which showed no problem. These attacks which I thought where TIA"s (Transient ischaemic attacks) mini strokes if you like proved otherwise..
