Common Questions and Answers about Psychotic reaction writer

psychotic

Avatar f tn My doctor changed my medicine to another anti-psychotic, and my pupils stopped getting large.
Avatar n tn Well, I'm not sure about that. Antipsychotics don't work right away. Tranquilizers do. Antipsychotics, if they do work, work all the time. Tranquilizes only work for a short period of time and then wear off. If she took this as an antipsychotic injection, it would be during an emergency situation but she would have to take the shots for several months and then go on the medication for longer than that.
Avatar f tn ve been diagnosed bipolar for about 2 years. I get horrible depression because of my bipolar. I recently had a really bad reaction to pot. REALLY bad. I almost killed myself, screamed at my friends, and vomited for 2 days. No one else that smoked it had a bad reaction. I haven't had a medication change recently. I'm on lamictal, seroquel, wellbutrin, cymbalta, and adderall. I don't know what happened. It wasn't laced or else everyone would have gotten sick.
398059 tn?1447945633 This can be especially difficult phase because one does not know what the cause might be. Many with MS are initially seen as being neurotic or even a bit psychotic. We find ourselves telling our loved ones or doctor some of our complaints. Even the most stoic of us at some point has to express something is wrong. We are then labeled complainers by ourselves and/or others. Strange things start occurring.
Avatar f tn I have bipolar 1 with psychotic features. Is there any anti psychotic that doesn't make you gain weight? I am on risperdal consta 25 mg, and I have gained 35 pounds in 10 months. I am not on any other medication, and yet I keep on gaining weight. Does all the anti psychotic make you gain weight? Is there any anti psychotic that doesn't make you gain weight?
Avatar m tn I'm a writer working on an article on people who access the internet for medical information. If anyone is interested in talking about their online experiences, I'd like to hear from you. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Has anyone out there had a Psychotic Reaction to Lexapro during first week of treatment? I was given it for acute anxiety, within 24 hrs it crashed my into depression, I have suffered mild attacks of depression in the past, but nothing like this.
Avatar n tn I suppose anyone can have a strange reaction to something but I've never heard of marijuana producing a psychotic reaction. People will have their underlying mood exaggerated by it, so if your son is anxious marijuana might make him more so. Much more so. And that can set off conditioned thinking, so such people should avoid it. But it sounds like something else to me or what you're describing isn't accurate, just an acute thing going on between the two of you.
Avatar m tn Realistic outcome of fictional hostage scenario in S.America. Adult female suffers some physical/much sexual abuse for a few (???) weeks; stops eating. (This is handled sensitively) Is there a realistic situation where she would be near death... comatose, skeletal. Maybe malaria or some other malady entering into it?
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
1965148 tn?1354978634 can anyone share their experiences with psychotic mania or bipolar with psychotic features? i have no idea where mine are heading but they are here, and they are not backing down.
Avatar m tn my 22 year old son just experienced a psychotic break. I need to understand how he was feeling. Is there anyone who has personally experienced this, and would be willing to describe what you felt? I am desperate to understand what he is going through.
Avatar n tn 5 which I feel fine.. As of late I have been waking up with what my friend believes is psychotic episodes, moments of ultra confusion for me as I usually have no recolection. It is now getting to the point where I could hurt myself as I thrash about and walk into walls. I had a CT Scan which showed no problem. These attacks which I thought where TIA"s (Transient ischaemic attacks) mini strokes if you like proved otherwise..
Avatar f tn Not every breakdown is psychotic. I had a complete mental breakdown about 16 years ago or so which lead to 3 years of crushing depression - my illness course leaves me prone to this type of breakdown. However not being on meds? Dont know - i went nearly 15 years not on meds and i thought i was fine until I wasnt and went psychotic manic, so you might be fine for a long time as well. And I wasnt fine, I was hypomanic and looking back had at least 3 mini breakdowns and burnouts in that time.
Avatar f tn I am currently recovering from a severe depression with suicide ideation in which i apparently had psychotic symptoms. Has anyone else had psychosis without knowing what it was until speaking to your therapist about what was going on? and does anyone have any advice as to what to look for in oneself when psychosis starts?
Avatar m tn My pdoc yesterday told me it's possible to have a psychotic break from too severe anxiety. This scares me bad, what is that? Does that mean I'll go crazy and hurt someone? Myself? Has anyone ever had one of these? Also is there anyone here that has had several months of severe anxiety, then slowly goes back to several months of calm? I'm afraid this feeling will last forever. Just to make sure I'm experiencing this "anxiety" what does it feel like to u all?
Avatar n tn She is 20 years old and in college. Today she told me she felt like she was having a psychotic breakdown. What is this kind of breakdown?

Avatar f tn I really cant help if after the birth of her last baby, if she wasnt put on an antidepressant, and shes not having a bad reaction. News says she is in hospital now and try are trying to get a court order to force her to take the meds which she is currently refusing. Mabey SHE knows more than the doctors regarding whats making her act so bizzare...
Avatar m tn schizophrenoform disorder, r/o psychotic disorder NOS, r/o MDD chronic with psychotic features, r/o alcohol abuse, partner relation problem Axis 2: no diagnosis with paranoid traits Axis 3 deferred Several months after discharge diagnosis (not by doctor who gave second opinion) amended to Axsis 1: MDD, in remission, r/o depression due to general medical condition (vestibular injury), adjustment disorder with depression/anxiety, partner relation problems, alcohol abuse.
933174 tn?1375792553 Keep seeing the p work, psychotic, sort gets me worried. I don't see myself as psychotic. My doctor doesn't think I'm psychotic, I think he just thinks that when I'm very depressed I can get this way. I remember calling my therapist while I was in San Diego on a nightmare vacation, where the whole time I thought I had rabies or something was terriblly wrong with me. I might add, I was also on a medication for birth control called yaz, which I think contributed to the whole thing.
2014820 tn?1328232055 ve never heard of such a thing, except when people are going off of some of the medications, then you can have psychotic reactions. My mother had that reaction when she suddenly got half the dose of Effexor which I proved to her facility that the FDA said that sudden tapering off of that med could cause all her crazy symptoms. They were close to throwing her out of the facility. But I can see why you wouldn't want to try anything after a reaction like that.
Avatar f tn A few thoughts: 1st, having an initial psychotic episode at 38 is unusual, so it is probably not something squarely in the "psychotic family" of conditions. It is possible (although unlikely) to have an initial manic episode after having previous depressive episodes. There is information that link paranoid/delusional thinking with menstruation, especially with a history of intense PMS (it is sometimes referred to as premenstrual dysphoric disorder, PMDD).
