Avatar f tn I am not familiar with that medication. Use Google and search the term, go to the home page of the manufactuer and read the possible side effects or merely ask the pharmacist that filled the RX of the MD that wrote the script.
Avatar n tn s a permanent condition and she would have to take medication for the rest of her life. If one is referring to an extreme reaction to trauma, that isn't really a psychosis, though one might describe it colloquially as a psychotic reaction because the behavior is that of one who is psychotic. She's probably using the term tranquilizer unscientifically, but if she was in a shock condition that simulates psychosis and might have indeed been put on an injection for fast relief of it.
Avatar f tn I really cant help if after the birth of her last baby, if she wasnt put on an antidepressant, and shes not having a bad reaction. News says she is in hospital now and try are trying to get a court order to force her to take the meds which she is currently refusing. But I know I need to take the meds to know if they will work or not, its just that we hear so many horror stories....I wish they had tried this med when I was in the hospital, at least I'd be in an controlled enviornment if I had a reaction..

Avatar f tn I've been smoking marijuana for about 5 years. I've been diagnosed bipolar for about 2 years. I get horrible depression because of my bipolar. I recently had a really bad reaction to pot. REALLY bad. I almost killed myself, screamed at my friends, and vomited for 2 days. No one else that smoked it had a bad reaction. I haven't had a medication change recently. I'm on lamictal, seroquel, wellbutrin, cymbalta, and adderall. I don't know what happened.
Avatar m tn I don't know how many of you are familiar with Akathisia which is a reaction to certain drugs such as antipsychotics and SSRIs. I had this reaction after taking some medicine for nausea that had an antipsychotic and also when I took metoclopramide. This was by far the worst feeling in earth. You feel like you have been buried alive. When you are still you feel an aweful urge to move and when you move you feel extremely tired.
Avatar f tn He started this med in early June (not the first time) his P-doc told him to take it at 6pm because he had to be at work by 7a.m...and it takes that amount of time minimum to wear off enough to wake up and be functional. This lasted approx 6-8 weeks than he found he needed less and less sleep. after being on it for approx. 3 months in fact he needed an extra amount at bedtime inorder to fall asleep!
Avatar f tn my son has seizures and has a hard time with learning do to the seizures.I don't think it has to do with the medicines he is on or has been on. People who have seizures forget things because when they have a seizures they can't remember things that have happen or going on at the time of the seizure.Witch makes life very hard for them.
82861 tn?1333453911 Mom is also a natural redhead, and I understand that the gene causing red hair, particularly in women can cause some odd reactions to narcotics and anesthesia. They tend to have a huge tolerance to pain, but not to pain medications. This describes my Mom to a T. She can't take even a crumb of a narcotic without vomiting. I'm very concerned about pre-op and post-op pain management for this reason. Any reccomendations?
925572 tn?1246540031 Almost all psychiatrists can easily access a database as regards medication interactions and inform you which ones you can't take. I know one of my medications interacts with asprin and Motrin but not Tylenol. However, there can occasionally be interactions that are adverse reactions but uncommon.
Avatar f tn I waz on and i had a reaction to it its got an ingredient in it and caused me to lactate not bein pregnant and zyprexa i gained alot of weight like 20lb in a month
Avatar n tn I suppose anyone can have a strange reaction to something but I've never heard of marijuana producing a psychotic reaction. People will have their underlying mood exaggerated by it, so if your son is anxious marijuana might make him more so. Much more so. And that can set off conditioned thinking, so such people should avoid it. But it sounds like something else to me or what you're describing isn't accurate, just an acute thing going on between the two of you.
952564 tn?1268368647 So I have this prescription for Risperidone. I have not filled it yet and it has been almost 3 weeks. I don't even have the money to fill it right now anyway. But I have researched this medicine and I am not comfortable with all of the side effects. Not just the weight gain but also the possibility of permanent twitching. Not only that but also I have had a majorly bad reaction to anti-psychotic medication and I can't remember what medication that was.
Avatar f tn I do know that one of the side affect of this medication is rash. is this normal to have a rash that is spreading and has lasted for weeks because of this medication?
Avatar f tn A few thoughts: 1st, having an initial psychotic episode at 38 is unusual, so it is probably not something squarely in the "psychotic family" of conditions. It is possible (although unlikely) to have an initial manic episode after having previous depressive episodes. There is information that link paranoid/delusional thinking with menstruation, especially with a history of intense PMS (it is sometimes referred to as premenstrual dysphoric disorder, PMDD).
1965148 tn?1354978634 Hey Elinah, I have experienced two psychotic manic episodes after being put on antidepressants. They both lasted at least a week. It started out as a feeling of increased euphoria, racing thoughts, confidence boost, insomnia and impulsiveness. These symptoms progressed and got more intense as time went on, and after a few days my thoughts began to turn sinister. I started having hallucinations and hearing voices telling me to kill myself and others.
1154462 tn?1327434379 m more sensitive to medication than most folks, I either respond to them well, or I get a bad adverse reaction. I have to be very careful to manage various things in my life; sleep, lifestyle, etc.. So, chances are that I will have a bad reaction to a lot of things, including over the counter medications. I had asthmatic bronchitis last fall and I paid for it; I struggled with it because I couldn't take many medicines.
1082697 tn?1260064616 They should look all this up in the pharmacy database that only physicians have access to. In the meantime you could go to the medication websites yourself or ask your pharmacist. They should definitely check into the interactions between the two as that might be a possibility. Zyprexa was quite sedating for so yes that is more typical though.
Avatar m tn full cognitive recovery (normal attention, concentration and memory) can take up to 6 months after you get to minimal mood symptoms. Hope that helps.
Avatar n tn However everyone can respond differently to medications. I encourage you to discuss your reaction with your presribing physician. It should be between you and your physician as to what medication should replace the Hydrocodone. Best of luck to you. I hope you'll keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.
Avatar m tn ve been taking paxill and lithium for a while now and the both seem to be wearing off. Also take an anti-psychotic medication called perphenazine that was helping me for a while but that also wore off too. The clonezepam still seems to help with my anxiety and I still use the trazadone for my sleep problems. I know it all seems like alot of medication but for a little while it seemed to work.
