Well, I'm not sure about that. Antipsychotics don't work right away. Tranquilizers do. Antipsychotics, if they do work, work all the time. Tranquilizes only work for a short period of time and then wear off. If she took this as an antipsychotic injection, it would be during an emergency situation but she would have to take the shots for several months and then go on the medication for longer than that.

ve been diagnosed bipolar for about 2 years. I get horrible depression because of my bipolar. I recently had a really bad reaction to pot. REALLY bad. I almost killed myself, screamed at my friends, and vomited for 2 days. No one else that smoked it had a bad reaction. I haven't had a medication change recently. I'm on lamictal, seroquel, wellbutrin, cymbalta, and adderall. I don't know what happened. It wasn't laced or else everyone would have gotten sick.

upon further research it seems doctor was also right about the psychotic depression...i think thats what it may be. i watched a video that described me perfectly...he has me on an inital dose of 10mg which he waas really insistant of..i was reluctant because i wanna go slow but he said that would not help me. I now know I always had behavior that was unusual and somewhat abnormal since I was a child, first started having psychotic thoughts when I was 13 and then at the age of 18 had a full psychotic break. I never really felt like myself until I started that treatment in clinical study but once I did could look back and see that I always had behavior patterns and obsessions that were markedly abnormal.

It would be wierd that seraquel would cause this on your daughter since situations as your daughter is experiencing is made better by Seraquel,,,,hearing voices is not a side effect and I have never heard of this,,but do talk to your doctor because everyone is different when it comes to medications,,also it could be a bad reaction of two drugs being mixed together.

Yes preventative research in this area is crucial. Clearly there is a genetic basis to this and there should be further means to understand and prevent alcoholism and substance abuse in general. My mother has recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder by a therapist. She has agreed to see a psychiatrist but she is still tentative on the idea. I have some familiarity with the disability and much of what impacts on me is very distressing, turning ideas with factual solutions into emotional conflicts, insomnia attacks, manic, inappriopriate jokes that will arise out of nowhere, an agitated mixed state that will arise from minor disagreements and a general sense of hysteria.

Has anyone out there had a Psychotic Reaction to Lexapro during first week of treatment? I was given it for acute anxiety, within 24 hrs it crashed my into depression, I have suffered mild attacks of depression in the past, but nothing like this.

Between 1 and 5% of folks have that kind of reaction to it.I kicked up my dose of Lamictal last week and had the chills for two days, but it went away. I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you get a rash. It a rash appears, then you need to be concerned. If this does happen, get a hold of you doctor right away.. Unfortunately the rash is another infrequent side effect of the medication, but you have to keep track of it; in case it turns into Steven-Johnson Syndrome.

It could also take some time to find the medication which is right for her because not every medication works the same and as effectively for every single person but chances are that one of them will work for her eventually. Cardiovascular Research LTD. I wanted to find out where the ingredients are sourced from. I have been taking their MagTaurate 125mg supplement for 3 weeks and I am now feeling a tight pain intermittently in my chest. It is occurs within 1 hr after taking the supplement. I suppose anyone can have a strange reaction to something but I've never heard of marijuana producing a psychotic reaction. People will have their underlying mood exaggerated by it, so if your son is anxious marijuana might make him more so. Much more so. And that can set off conditioned thinking, so such people should avoid it. But it sounds like something else to me or what you're describing isn't accurate, just an acute thing going on between the two of you.

You are right, this can not be a case of schizophrenia, but that does not mean he does not have a paranoid psychotic reaction due to brain trauma, or premature senility,or some other neurological disorder. He should be seeing a neurologist as well as a psych evaluation.
