Avatar f tn I agree ! You know Josh Groban sings, "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" on Oprah's Holiday Album. I downloaded 8 songs from Oprah's website... printed out the labels and gave a few CD's to friends and family already as early X-Mas gifts. They loved it !

Avatar m tn The best one i would recommend which has really helped me out with this by giving courage and perseverence is two songs by eminems new album 'recovery'. He is also going through recovery from pills as well, hence the name of the album, perfect timing on it's release.
Avatar f tn Anyone else have songs that they like and that helped them through hard times? I also love almost lover by a fine frenzy because pills were my lover for quite a while. These are not new songs but they are two of my fav that help me through these hard times. Would love to here some of yours.
Avatar m tn Just taking a survey on those that have kept their headphones on for the duration of their detox. Just wanted to know what songs have helped the most. For me it's been Dreaming by BT. For some reason it really resonated with me this go around. Check it out on the YouTube if feel so inclined.
Avatar f tn Music has played a huge roll in my recovery so far. I wrote and recorded my own songs for such a long time, but after the vics took over I lost interest. A song I listen to all the time is Never Too Late by 3 Days Grace. Different music style entirely, but it's written about the singer's battle with Oxy. It's very powerful. In fact, the entire album is about it. The name of the album is One-X. Very good album, but very heavy and dark rock/borderline metal.
206807 tn?1331936184 Johnny Winter, a Texas-bred guitarist and singer who was a mainstay of the blues-rock world since the 1960s, died on Wednesday in his hotel room in Zurich. He was 70 and had been on tour in Europe. Mr. Winter’s family was awaiting information about the cause, a spokeswoman, Carla Parisi, said on Thursday. A virtuosic, high-energy blues guitarist, Mr. Winter was perhaps as well known for his appearance as he was for his playing.
Avatar m tn Adam Gontier, the lead singer of the band went through major drug problems (oxycontin) during his 1st album. He realized his problem and checked himself into Rehab. During rehab he wrote lyrics for his w/d and depression he was going through to put into their newest albums.
Avatar f tn I was pretty little in '64 but I remember the Beach Boys big hit album Little Deuce Coupe reaching #4 and going platinum. It mostly deals with cars as subject matter, except "Be True to Your School". "Be True to Your School" was written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love and first recorded on Session 1 of the recording of their 1964 album Little Deuce Coupe. The Beach Boys recorded two versions.
884770 tn?1244472251 I though maybe it would be nice if all those who had music help them through the w/d period and after that maybe sharing songs with those of us who are in need of something, anything....may help. I'm working on a few that have got me to day two...Its a start, right?
341551 tn?1266980730 I know I already updated everyone on my Moms reaction. Than I called my Dad this past Sunday to tell him because he was visiting family and wasn't home when my Mom got the album. He was soo excited too! His voice was all high and excited and he was asking questions and just can't wait to be a grandpa! Then my in-laws finally got their album Monday, but she waited for my father in law to get home to call us! So it was killing me! We didn't hear from them until like 8 at night!
341551 tn?1266980730 Sooo the album did get to my parents house today!! I was on the phone with my best friend and I had just told her I was Pregnant and sent her pictures and everything...(we had been talking for hours) and all of a sudden the caller ID read "home" and I was like ahhh here it is!! So my hubby ran over and we put it on speaker phone and it was my Mom and she goes "Gina...
Avatar m tn music has helped with this addiction for sure. if you guys have any good songs, especially those u can relate to using or songs that have helped you i would love a list, im gonna make a cd this weekend.
Avatar f tn (That entire album is one of my top 10). This one is instrumental, unlike the rest of his songs, but it has so much feeling that it needs no lyrics. It is called the three of us: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZuqGI0kS3Z4 Also, I like Jack Johnson's Flake: http://youtube.com/watch?v=jAWPVZ7A16o This is a live version, which doesn't produce the best "sound" as the orginal, which is much better, but Ben Harper's playing of the Weisenborn (at the end) is awesome.
7552244 tn?1393364737 ) my baby girl lives Mozart!
674607 tn?1240017232 More along my lines. I like to listen to something depressing such as anything by Nick Drake or Syd Barrett and work those feelings out. Then having gotten over them I move on. I tend to listen to cheerier music when I am hypomanic. Its only recently after recovery from psychosis that I am aware of it but the music I listen to matches the affect I am in. As for Pink Floyd I know as a kid growing up, that half of the kids when they felt angry at the world listened to "The Wall".

Avatar f tn There is NO way I can narrow this down to one choice!!! LOL I have a very wide range of music that I love listening to-from heavy rock like Panterra, disco-Blondie, and classical Mozart. I'm not a huge fan of country music-I will admit to liking a few songs, like Carrie Underwood's-Before He Cheats (title????).
Avatar m tn There is another songs that have really give me real inspiration, they are sooo good for days where you feel menttally weak, but they might be more for my generation, they are by emimen, they two songs that i would really think helped me were from his new album 'recovery' (what a great title for us right now), the songs are 'going through changes' and 'not afraid'. They are both exactly about being strong and gettin off these pills, he really paints a great picture.

7366593 tn?1400009626 So today i decided to put my phone on my stomach while i listened to Pandora. I'm 23 weeks, i read that by now they can hear the outside. Sail by Awolnation played, he started kicking up a storm, I played other songs and he didn't move. Does it mean he didn't like that song and the other songs were soothing?
