I agree ! You know Josh Groban sings, "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" on Oprah's Holiday Album. I downloaded 8 songs from Oprah's website... printed out the labels and gave a few CD's to friends and family already as early X-Mas gifts. They loved it !
The best one i would recommend which has really helped me out with this by giving courage and perseverence is two songs by eminems new album 'recovery'. He is also going through recovery from pills as well, hence the name of the album, perfect timing on it's release.
Anyone else have songs that they like and that helped them through hard times? I also love almost lover by a fine frenzy because pills were my lover for quite a while. These are not new songs but they are two of my fav that help me through these hard times. Would love to here some of yours.
Just taking a survey on those that have kept their headphones on for the duration of their detox. Just wanted to know what songs have helped the most. For me it's been Dreaming by BT. For some reason it really resonated with me this go around. Check it out on the YouTube if feel so inclined.
Music has played a huge roll in my recovery so far. I wrote and recorded my own songs for such a long time, but after the vics took over I lost interest. A song I listen to all the time is Never Too Late by 3 Days Grace. Different music style entirely, but it's written about the singer's battle with Oxy. It's very powerful. In fact, the entire album is about it. The name of the album is One-X. Very good album, but very heavy and dark rock/borderline metal.
Adam Gontier, the lead singer of the band went through major drug problems (oxycontin) during his 1st album. He realized his problem and checked himself into Rehab. During rehab he wrote lyrics for his w/d and depression he was going through to put into their newest albums.
I was pretty little in '64 but I remember the Beach Boys big hit album Little Deuce Coupe reaching #4 and going platinum. It mostly deals with cars as subject matter, except "Be True to Your School".
"Be True to Your School" was written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love and first recorded on Session 1 of the recording of their 1964 album Little Deuce Coupe.
The Beach Boys recorded two versions.

This is a live version, which doesn't produce the best "sound" as the orginal, which is much better, but Ben Harper's playing of the Weisenborn (at the end) is awesome.
There is NO way I can narrow this down to one choice!!! LOL I have a very wide range of music that I love listening to-from heavy rock like Panterra, disco-Blondie, and classical Mozart. I'm not a huge fan of country music-I will admit to liking a few songs, like Carrie Underwood's-Before He Cheats (title????).
There is another songs that have really give me real inspiration, they are sooo good for days where you feel menttally weak, but they might be more for my generation, they are by emimen, they two songs that i would really think helped me were from his new album 'recovery' (what a great title for us right now), the songs are 'going through changes' and 'not afraid'. They are both exactly about being strong and gettin off these pills, he really paints a great picture.
And your name made me come to think of one of my absolout favorit songs from the white album. Happines is a warm gun do you know that one.( when you hold your finger on my trigger etc etc )
