psychotic nerve symptoms

I am currently recovering from a severe depression with suicide ideation in which i apparently had psychotic symptoms. Has anyone else had psychosis without knowing what it was until speaking to your therapist about what was going on? and does anyone have any advice as to what to look for in oneself when psychosis starts?

i am taking anti-psychotic medications which seem to exacerbate my symptoms (they have neurological side effects). However, when i was a small child i had problems with pacing, sitting on the ground and pushing and rocking back and forth, and sitting on my butt and bouncing on the bed to the point that i broke beds and couches until recently. i have also had a habit of hand-clenching and have hurt my wrists several times from doing it.

Hey Elinah, I have experienced two psychotic manic episodes after being put on antidepressants. They both lasted at least a week. It started out as a feeling of increased euphoria, racing thoughts, confidence boost, insomnia and impulsiveness. These symptoms progressed and got more intense as time went on, and after a few days my thoughts began to turn sinister. I started having hallucinations and hearing voices telling me to kill myself and others.

First off, thank you to all who spoke up for me the other day. I needed a little reassurance. In the doctors (pleural - my gp was told by the docs who work for the insurace company) defense, I have no sign, really, of organic disease. I then RE-researched the neuropathic pain which brought me to them. You know?

Bu last couple years smoked marijauana and k2 / that spice stuff. I do have family issues too. My symptoms are a lot and i was wondering if it could be something besides bi-polar or a combo of stuff. I was smoking k2 daily constantly for couple months recently. I started to want god in my life. So I quit smoking cigerettes,weed,k2, and all my anger and personel problems toward everybody and wanted to change completely into a good person.

On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...

Also is it possible to ever feel happy without these medications or do I need something that potent (the antidepressants) to get back to normal? I have been having some neurological disorder like symptoms that I need to get seen for and I believe the invega medication is causing this. This scares me into thinking that adding more medication might make whatever this disorder is to become that much worse. Any advice guys?

Hi for almost a year I’ve been having several symptoms that I now believe point to serotonin syndrome. Excessive sweating in normal temperatures, tremors, IBS, tachycardia & many more. All started after starting adderall, shortly after my dose was upped on that & depakote upped. Also take trazodone, gabapentin & flexeril & melatonin. Taking 2 of these or more can cause it.. Anyone w/ info or experience?

psychotic depression can encompass a wide variety of symptoms. i treat people with "psychotic depressions" a lot. Depending on what symptoms people are experiencing, different medications will be used. People will often respond very quickly to antipsychotic meds (even within days). The deeper depressive symptoms may take longer to fully resolve but that does not mean you cannot get feeling much much better relatively quickly.

She is 20 years old and in college. Today she told me she felt like she was having a psychotic breakdown.What is this kind of breakdown?

s known to cause muscle spasms and it says do not miss any doses because it has withdrawl symptoms,and so stupid me missed 2 doses. Or could it be anxiety which I do suffer from heavily. Could it be neurological? Could it be some kind of eye nerve problem? Could it be nerves? I did get my lip pierced not too long before this.maybe hit a nerve?Any other ideas or advice would be extremely valued. Thank you in advance.

I think that bipolar disorder can be with or without psychotic features. Since you seem to be having some psychosis then I would say you have it with. I think they have to observe you over time to get an acurate diagnosis. Therefor you would have to meet the diagnostic creiteria outlined in the DSM IV to recieve a diagnosis.

Hey guys,trying to get my taper game plan up and running. Have anyone of you had severe psychotic mood swings, or leg zinging pain with withdrawals. Mine don't ache like the flu, they shake and tremor with severe nerve pain and then stop. i havent' even tapered yet. Want to know if this is a withdrawal symptoms or something else I need to look into.

Hypomania is distinguished from mania by the absence of psychotic symptoms. In other words if there are psychotic features its mania. BP2's can get psychotic features in mania the same as anyone does. Is this what you are referring to on the Black Dog Site ?

I guess it all depends on the severity of the psychotic break and other such factors. I like ILADVOCATE had symptoms since I was a small child and had my first full blown psychotic break about a year and a half ago or longer, I'm not sure I can't keep track of this crap like this. But after I had it I have never got back up to baseline yet since and I seem to relapse easily to varying extents.

In females real psychotic disorders tend to appear later than in men, who are starting to get symptoms between adolescence and early adulthood. In psychotic disorder medication is a very good way to treat symptoms. Therapy is always a plus.

Jaquta - I'm not sure what I'll do if I don't like the results from the psych consult. I suppose I could just continue treatment with my primary physician, as I think he could manage my complaints. I have looked up the dsm-iv for bipolar disorder, and it definitely doesn't match my complaints.

Well there is a gradation between bipolar and schizophrenia such as bipolar with psychotic features (where a person experiences psychotic symptoms specifically during moodswings) and schizoaffective disorder, as was mentioned as I have where if untreated a person experiences psychotic symptoms at all times. Bipolar in some people can worsen over a life time, certainly if untreated and there are many subtypes of bipolar, including bipolar with psychotic features.

It works better than Geodon did for me but I take it for a psychotic disorder rather than a mood disorder but bipolar disorder can have psychotic symptoms and every medicine works differently for each person.

Thank you very much for your amazing answer, Ive been on prozac since February, the scary thing is that I read it may cause schizophrenia, thats why Im scared of taking an upper dosage, but many assured me it has nothing to do with this, and knowing Im already 24 years old,they said Im not in danger.

Hi Linnie, I am sorry but I can't answer your question regarding this nerve stimulator. But I can say that I agree with your decision about the injections in your neck. I recently had an LP done and have a slow CSF leak as a result. It is TERRIBLE!!! Don't we go through enough pain as it is??? Is a flow study MRI like a CINE MRI? I am having one done on the 23rd. I have been having such terrible pain in the back of my head and neck.
