Avatar f tn If you find the right medications, therapy and support from people it is something people can recover from and learn to live with. Its important just to see it as a part of your life. Not one you wanted of course. But one you cope with. If your father has severe depression and nothing is helping him find out what else is out there is the way of treatment. Here's a good resource for mood disorders: http://www.psycom.net/depression.central.
2052200 tn?1332429084 Hi, I need to know what to do about the visual and audio hallucinations I have been experiencing. From 7 to around 10 years old, I experienced visual, audio and tactile hallucinations (hearing the piano playing in the middle of the night, feeling bugs crawling all over me, seeing the ceiling falling down, seeing letters all over the walls etc). My mother just thought it was night terrors and didn't do anything about it as they stopped when I was about 10.
Avatar f tn I had seen a post by ILADVOCATE about a study he participated in and recovered from schizoafffective disorder. I did read that psychotic symptoms in SD may persist and felt maybe this is what my daughter is.Maybe ILADVOCATE can tell me more about this and the antipsychotic he was on. I have read that glycine helps the MNDR(I may have these letters mixed up) receptors function better and may help psychosis. Where can I get more information about glycine therapy and will medicaid pay for it?
Avatar f tn It is worse when she gets upset. Reading is almost impossible because she says the letters are moving, worse on the computer. I don't know if this is a new developing symptom, a med side affect or what? Does anyone have similar symptoms?
438513 tn?1215703374 CNN's web site has a great piece on things women tend to do wrong at the doctor's office. No. 5 is "they don't trust their instincts." Check it out at: http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/05/14/ep.women.mistakes/index.html?
Avatar m tn s the world, but she keeps everything very secretive - from family and from her doctor! 607502 tn?1288247540 I identified I am fully recovered from glycine a Phase II anti-psychotic in FDA study from schizoaffective disorder. And there are treatments in study for bipolar disorder as well. Here's a link that updates itself: http://www.psychmeds123.info/ I would suggest what I do.
Avatar m tn My pdoc yesterday told me it's possible to have a psychotic break from too severe anxiety. This scares me bad, what is that? Does that mean I'll go crazy and hurt someone? Myself? Has anyone ever had one of these? Also is there anyone here that has had several months of severe anxiety, then slowly goes back to several months of calm? I'm afraid this feeling will last forever. Just to make sure I'm experiencing this "anxiety" what does it feel like to u all?
Avatar f tn Do all people with bipolar or any other mental illnesses suffer from a breakdown? I for one never had one. I was speaking to a social worker and he told me in my case it may because I have the support or maybe I have some sort of control that enables me to make it pass the days. He also seem surprise because I am not on meds. I told him they bring on any attacks and make them worst. So I just been going on a day to day basis.
Avatar f tn I am currently recovering from a severe depression with suicide ideation in which i apparently had psychotic symptoms. Has anyone else had psychosis without knowing what it was until speaking to your therapist about what was going on? and does anyone have any advice as to what to look for in oneself when psychosis starts?
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
Avatar n tn She is 20 years old and in college. Today she told me she felt like she was having a psychotic breakdown. What is this kind of breakdown?
Avatar m tn I can understand how you must feel as my husband was on methadone and began to go psychotic. He is now off methadone as he could not control the hallucinations and dreams that he got from it. I do not have an answer for you, only my sympathy. The lamictal is used as a mood stabilizer and should help keep you from going manic.Maybe ILAD can give you the name of a pharmopsychologist to talk to you and help you. You are indeed in no mans land.
284738 tn?1283106819 Teachers could attest to what kind of a student you were and the fact that you have the smarts, drive and detemination to finish and become a good Nurse. If you are in the Nursing field now then one from a Teacher and one from a current management person would be the best IMO. Good luck and congrads on going back.
Avatar n tn He is having problems recognizing his letters and numbers. The teacher keeps telling me how behind he is and that he will probably be retained. They keep telling me that he is young and that it would not hurt him to hold him back. I don't feel comfortable with this. I want to blame myself for the fact that I don't feel that I have worked with him enough. His is my fourth child and we have so much going on all the time.
933174 tn?1375792553 t really realize your thoughts and beliefs and even sometimes the hallucinations caused from it are psychotic until they come to pass and sometimes then you still don't know they were psychotic.
144586 tn?1284666164 The Federal Government has established a "no buy" list called the NICS list. Whenever you attempt to purchase a firearm the dealer is supposed to call a number and consult this list. Once on the list you can never ever purchase or own a firearm. There was supposedly a procedure to do so, but it was never funded. The penalty for this is seven years in the federal slammer, as one vet found when he had a single shot shotgun in his possession after being on the list.
1965148 tn?1354978634 can anyone share their experiences with psychotic mania or bipolar with psychotic features? i have no idea where mine are heading but they are here, and they are not backing down.
Avatar n tn 5 which I feel fine.. As of late I have been waking up with what my friend believes is psychotic episodes, moments of ultra confusion for me as I usually have no recolection. It is now getting to the point where I could hurt myself as I thrash about and walk into walls. I had a CT Scan which showed no problem. These attacks which I thought where TIA"s (Transient ischaemic attacks) mini strokes if you like proved otherwise..
Avatar f tn m very distrusting of doctors mind you.) Can anyone tell me from experience if they look at the possibility of personality disorders like BPD while evaluating for bipolar disorder? I'll definitely ask the doctor, but I'm just so paranoid that I'll be misdiagnosed again and BPD and bipolar do have a lot in common. I know I should just be patient and ask the doctor when my appointment gets here but I'm just going crazy over this I think.
Avatar f tn She is an artist who did a bunch of drawings for an art show once in the 1970s that showed women masturbating, and the gallery got such an overwhelming number of letters from women asking how to masturbate that she turned into sort of an advisory person for women on the topic, and also on what normal genitals look like (because women get so darn self-conscious over their labia). They used her material as a resource in my Human Sexuality class in college.
Avatar f tn I now know I always had behavior that was unusual and somewhat abnormal since I was a child, first started having psychotic thoughts when I was 13 and then at the age of 18 had a full psychotic break. I never really felt like myself until I started that treatment in clinical study but once I did could look back and see that I always had behavior patterns and obsessions that were markedly abnormal.
