Avatar f tn If you find the right medications, therapy and support from people it is something people can recover from and learn to live with. Its important just to see it as a part of your life. Not one you wanted of course. But one you cope with. If your father has severe depression and nothing is helping him find out what else is out there is the way of treatment. Here's a good resource for mood disorders: http://www.psycom.net/depression.central.
Avatar f tn In females real psychotic disorders tend to appear later than in men, who are starting to get symptoms between adolescence and early adulthood. In psychotic disorder medication is a very good way to treat symptoms. Therapy is always a plus.
2052200 tn?1332429084 Hi, I need to know what to do about the visual and audio hallucinations I have been experiencing. From 7 to around 10 years old, I experienced visual, audio and tactile hallucinations (hearing the piano playing in the middle of the night, feeling bugs crawling all over me, seeing the ceiling falling down, seeing letters all over the walls etc). My mother just thought it was night terrors and didn't do anything about it as they stopped when I was about 10.
Avatar f tn Im not saying men r gonna be men n let it go. If my husband did that I wouldn't...but all I'm saying is some men do stupid stuff. So confront him or let it go. Either way its gonna be a pain. But I agree with the previous post he should have more respect for u!
Avatar f tn I had seen a post by ILADVOCATE about a study he participated in and recovered from schizoafffective disorder. I did read that psychotic symptoms in SD may persist and felt maybe this is what my daughter is.Maybe ILADVOCATE can tell me more about this and the antipsychotic he was on. I have read that glycine helps the MNDR(I may have these letters mixed up) receptors function better and may help psychosis. Where can I get more information about glycine therapy and will medicaid pay for it?
Avatar f tn It is worse when she gets upset. Reading is almost impossible because she says the letters are moving, worse on the computer. I don't know if this is a new developing symptom, a med side affect or what? Does anyone have similar symptoms?
Avatar m tn s the world, but she keeps everything very secretive - from family and from her doctor! I hope that your son gets a good psychiatrist, because counseling/therapy is so-o important, just as important as the proper medication! If you need someone to chat with just message me! I wish you the very best ... take care!
607502 tn?1288247540 I identified I am fully recovered from glycine a Phase II anti-psychotic in FDA study from schizoaffective disorder. And there are treatments in study for bipolar disorder as well. Here's a link that updates itself: http://www.psychmeds123.info/ I would suggest what I do.
Avatar m tn My pdoc yesterday told me it's possible to have a psychotic break from too severe anxiety. This scares me bad, what is that? Does that mean I'll go crazy and hurt someone? Myself? Has anyone ever had one of these? Also is there anyone here that has had several months of severe anxiety, then slowly goes back to several months of calm? I'm afraid this feeling will last forever. Just to make sure I'm experiencing this "anxiety" what does it feel like to u all?
Avatar n tn At the request of his mother, I started a correspondence with a friend from high school when I learned that he had gone to prison for minor drug charges. He had fallen in with a rough crowd after his dad died and his mom moved the family over a few counties to be closer to her folks. At first the letters were about encouragement and support for his future after prison. But over time, after I wrote to him that I had come out, the letters started to become sexualized.
Avatar f tn Do all people with bipolar or any other mental illnesses suffer from a breakdown? I for one never had one. I was speaking to a social worker and he told me in my case it may because I have the support or maybe I have some sort of control that enables me to make it pass the days. He also seem surprise because I am not on meds. I told him they bring on any attacks and make them worst. So I just been going on a day to day basis.
Avatar f tn What Religion is Your Bra? A man walked into the ladies department of Macy's and shyly walked up to the woman behind the counter and said, 'I'd like to buy a bra for my wife. 'What type of bra?' asked the clerk. ‘Type?', inquires the man, 'There's more than one type?' 'Look around,' said the saleslady, as she showed a sea of bras in every shape, size, color and material imaginable.
Avatar f tn Gordon and attorney Kurt Arnold each have one client who has received letters from Transocean in the past few days. Arnold says asking the men to sign those forms was coercive. He says the request came more than 24 hours after the rescue, after the men had seen 11 of their friends die in the explosion and chaos of that night, and after they had run to lifeboats to try to save their own lives. Arnold's clients aren't speaking publicly but have described the scene to him.
Avatar f tn I am currently recovering from a severe depression with suicide ideation in which i apparently had psychotic symptoms. Has anyone else had psychosis without knowing what it was until speaking to your therapist about what was going on? and does anyone have any advice as to what to look for in oneself when psychosis starts?
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
Avatar n tn She is 20 years old and in college. Today she told me she felt like she was having a psychotic breakdown. What is this kind of breakdown?
Avatar m tn I can understand how you must feel as my husband was on methadone and began to go psychotic. He is now off methadone as he could not control the hallucinations and dreams that he got from it. I do not have an answer for you, only my sympathy. The lamictal is used as a mood stabilizer and should help keep you from going manic.Maybe ILAD can give you the name of a pharmopsychologist to talk to you and help you. You are indeed in no mans land.
Avatar n tn Ok, I posted before with a problem my boyfriend thinks I'ma nympho, and yeah here's another concern: I know this may be weird to some but my boyfriend and I do this role play thing where I pretend he's a little boy and I pretend I'm his mother and I'm seducing him and he feels scared and molested but it's all part of the act and he even makes a little boy voice.
Avatar f tn Can anybody give me some baby shower game ideas? Ones men will also enjoy.
284738 tn?1283106819 Teachers could attest to what kind of a student you were and the fact that you have the smarts, drive and detemination to finish and become a good Nurse. If you are in the Nursing field now then one from a Teacher and one from a current management person would be the best IMO. Good luck and congrads on going back.
Avatar f tn I left my husband who suffers from paranoia and he has terrorised myself and our two children sice I dared leave him. I was subjected to frequent and brutal destruction of property, methodical destruction and death threats by men waiting for me in the street, anonymous letters to my employer, then false charges made against me for child abuse etc... I have always been very fit and partook in regular sport (half marathon etc).
Avatar n tn He is having problems recognizing his letters and numbers. The teacher keeps telling me how behind he is and that he will probably be retained. They keep telling me that he is young and that it would not hurt him to hold him back. I don't feel comfortable with this. I want to blame myself for the fact that I don't feel that I have worked with him enough. His is my fourth child and we have so much going on all the time.
Avatar m tn Namaste, Delusional disorder, previously called paranoid disorder, is a type of serious mental illness called a "psychosis" in which a person cannot tell what is real from what is imagined. The main feature of this disorder is the presence of delusions, which are unshakable beliefs in something untrue.
Avatar f tn I had psychotic depression and after a couple of years of treatment I have been able to give up the anti psychotic. By very slowly reducing it over time. But will remain on an anti depressant for more time. Be patient. Your Doctor doesnt sound very optomistic? Mine gave me a lot of hope. Take it easy and see what happens. Depression can go so bad that you become psychotic. but after a couple of years maybe you can improve and your Doctor will advise you on reducing the medication.
Avatar m tn Doctors already diagnosed me with thyroiditis 3 months ago. From the symptoms I guess I'm having hyper. But I need to know if psychosis is part of the thyroiditis. Cos I'm feeling paranoid, delusional and hallucinating. Thanks!
