Avatar m tn I cut my left index finger on the second joint, its healed so there is no scab but the scar keeps callusing and it aches a little specially when i play bare chords on my guitar did it just heal wrong? might there be stuff in there still? or do calluses caused by cuts on your palm skin always keep callusing forever?
Avatar m tn It feels like a taught metal cord has been snapped, like a thick base guitar string but the sound does not linger. Its a metallic sound and I can almost feel it when it happens. I never suffered any trauma to by head or ears. I have seen my GP, neurosurgeon, ENT and there appears to be no structural damage. No brain tumor. Nothing that shows up on imaging. I always forget to ask the neuro and plan on doing so next wee.
Avatar m tn t feel any wrong but I still cannot sing anything in falsetto nor head voice. I suppose my vocal chords are still swollen cause the only thing i can hear and feel is the air coming through my chords with no sound while singing in high pitches. Still is it normal to last over 2 weeks already? I am a little afraid I could do something wrong with my voice by drinking alcohol after intensive singing during concert.
Avatar m tn How about using The electric guitar after him? The electric guitar can scratch the skin a bit and the chords are curled so they may keep blood away from air ?
Avatar n tn Yet because of that I has the skill of making a guitar, trumpet, violin, cello, electric guitar, piano, and drums all with just my vocal chords alone =D If I get back to listening to smooth Jazz I should be able to reacquire the saxophone again =) IF this ability is not limited to me, then there may be others who go undiagnosed for ASD because we can talk- my question would be: Is he good at reciprocal conversations?
Avatar m tn I've had problems with my voice for over a year now. For a long time I thought of it as a mucus problem, possibly related to allergies. However, recently I've had many reasons to think it may be something else. About 80% of the time I have some problem or other with my voice. It feels like my vocal chords are covered in thick mucus and I can't talk properly.
1581072 tn?1296580527 ) sleeping patterns were erratic, not wanting to talk to people, hating confusing noise (radio, tv, or a group of people talking) I am a guitar player and could not play, how depressing was that? These are just some of the things that are common the stroke survivors that others and even doctors do not understand. The best thing you can do for your mother is understanding and a hug. She is different now and you have to embrace.
Avatar m tn (an electric guitar / metal strings) and later day performed with the same guitar at a gig. today i was told that the girl is a drug addict for a long time and is hiv+ what i'm afraid of is that the tips of my fingers have wounds from heavy playing. bleeding little bit from time to time, the skin is broken in all 4 fingers. as we were jamming she had to leave the room to get a tampon since she was on her period.
Avatar f tn I had the videostroboscopy, my vocal chords were strong and node-free...probably from good voice instruction. My longest stint for a hoarseness episode was 5 days, that is when I decided that they needed to come out, at least the side with three largest nodules in it. My largest was 2.1 cm, the other two were about 1 cm each...I also had swallowing difficulties and tired all the time, lost weight, brain fog. I had a lobectomy April 21, and my voice was pretty good just after the surgery.
Avatar m tn I had my vocal chords damaged during intubation (2.5 hr. surgery). They kept telling me wait, it might be GERD, try this and that. Well, almost 2 years of suffering with a voice that sometimes was there and sometimes wasn't. It was very hoarse and I had trouble being heard. Next week I undergo "Direct Laryngoscopy" to remove vocal chord lesions. I have been told that I should have a 50% improvement in my voice and the lesions can come back.
Avatar f tn That's not dumb everyone is different. Are you going to pursue music in life?
Avatar f tn It's difficult to say exactly what's going on without examining you, but if your problem doesn't get better gradually, see your surgeon. There are a number of unusual situations where you can have issues after a trach tube is taken out.
Avatar f tn ve had the worse anxiety ever this past week and have posted on this forum a few times. (wanted to jump out a window yesterday) Played Guitar Hero for about an hour in the morning and I must say it helped the symptoms some...couldn't focus on the chest pain as much while trying to beat my husband at this stupid game! I AM going to make an appt with my dr. for sometime this week hopefully to discuss this severe increase in anxiety.

268911 tn?1213744781 Guitar hero update. I beat "Same old song and dance" now I'm on "Welcome to the jungle" I LOVE THAT SONG! By the way...I'm on the "difficult" level....next is expert.
518031 tn?1295575374 I'm not a lead guitar fan and can't stand guitar solos or jam sessions...I love the bass and rhythm guitar the best....so my vote is for Paul McCartney for bass.....
Avatar f tn Normally the hoarseness is pretty much gone after the first or second week. You may find that even your vocal chords were actually bruised around a bit with the intubation tube. This can take a little longer to heal than an easy intubation. Grazing can happen for many reasons. The vocal chords are too far down the throat to be able to have a drink or food to help them.
Avatar f tn I know this girl who is crazy!!! she will be all happy at first then every hour or so she changes, if you touch her she will grab a knife and she will say STAY AWAY FROM ME YOU ALIEN!!
681148 tn?1437661591 t know if it has anything to do with Fibromyalgia or not, but it is a type of muscle spasm. I remember how embarrassed I would get when the vocal chords would spasm while I was sitting in class while the teacher was lecturing. Everyone would turn around and look at me and the teacher would just glare at me like I was being disruptive and rude on purpose. Thankfully, he didn't decide to take it further and hold me after class.
787406 tn?1339203183 To come on suddenly would be medical emergency, and the cause could be the rupture of the papillary heart muscle (area that attaches chords to valve leaflets) or the chords could break away from the leaflets, etc. Sometimes perhaps the left ventricle can quickly enlarge and that would skew the opening (orifice), but there would be other signs and symptoms associated.
338416 tn?1420045702 It's definitely a physical response to a certain kind of sound. I don't get this with swing music, which is what I listen to most of the time when I'm at work - Django Reinhart or French hot club jazz, or maybe a little bluegrass music. This particular song starts with a woman singing a capella, and my eyes start watering. Then the mandolin kicks in, and I get a little 'hic!' in my stomach, like I'm about to start bawling.
Avatar m tn I pray that I will be able to continue to sing contemporary christian songs to my guitar and lead worship in small groups. I try not to worry and pray that the surgeon will do a good job and trust that I will be lead into good follow up treatment. I must admitt that reading a lot of these comments regarding major problems with emotional and sleep issues scares me quite a bit. I really appreciate this site and particularly thank the person recommending Thyrolar.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure pinched nerves are caused by guitar playing. I've also been playing guitar for about that long, but I have no pinched nerves from it. I am, however, wracked with pain from other things, and if you do have pinched nerves it's likely the posture we assume when we play the guitar, with too much neck bending.
Avatar n tn I would suggest talking to and ENT about the problem with the vocal chords - they may need to run a scope down your throat to visualize the chords and see what is happening. Continue to drink tons of water to flush out the radiation and use some throat spray to see if that helps but see and ENT.
