psychotic

Avatar n tn I am a BP I with psychotic features. I know all about rage. Boy did I have rage! Screaming, throwing things, slamming things, yanking my kids around (thank GOD I never really hurt them although I could have), and I could NOT control it. It would just leap out of me and over take me! Then I would throw alcohol on top of it. That would calm me down for a bit but then it had a boom a rang effect and I'd be in a depressed rage.
Avatar f tn I will feel like Superwoman, increased energy and i think I can do anything to being irritable and having a short anger rage all in the same day. Is that one maniac episode? If not any suggestions would be great.
Avatar n tn 5 which I feel fine.. As of late I have been waking up with what my friend believes is psychotic episodes, moments of ultra confusion for me as I usually have no recolection. It is now getting to the point where I could hurt myself as I thrash about and walk into walls. I had a CT Scan which showed no problem. These attacks which I thought where TIA"s (Transient ischaemic attacks) mini strokes if you like proved otherwise..
Avatar f tn Were you possibly having a small episode are begining to have one? Outburst of anger and rage are so common with Bipolar episodes and of course suicidal thougths can be too. Were you phycotic and having hallucinations or delusions? Maybe you just had some anger inside and the smoke gave you the ability to lower your inhabitions? I really don't know. Normally smoke tends to mellow one out,, Your question would probably get valid answers from experiences from people on the Bipolar site.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Thanks for reaching out! Lack of sleep on opiates is unusual although some folks do report feeling more 'up'/wired on them. For instance, were you taking the benzos or Ultrams BEFORE your taper? Do you drink? I ask because these are the more likely culprits in a 'psychotic' episode. Fits of rage don't necessarily indicate psychosis. They might be from a very natural anger at yourself/your situation. (I know that I've felt like that at times.
5051252 tn?1362970368 What you are experiencing is in the class of neurological events called (loosely) a psychotic episode. I have them, too, but mine are very mild... I just see some shadows that aren't there sometimes. Please see your doctor about this as soon as possible, to rule out things like your brain not receiving enough oxygen, blood work to rule out any danger of diabetes or low blood counts, things of that sort.
1256303 tn?1291752568 For schizoaffective, you have to have the psychosis part (the part A criterion for schizophrenia) for at least 2 weeks without being in the middle of a mood episode. If you only ever have psychosis while in a mood episode, then it's probably bipolar with psychotic features. But it doesn't really matter from a treatment standpoint; you'll need an antipsychotic and maybe lithium/an anticonvulsant mood stabilizer as well to control the bipolar and the psychosis either way.
Avatar m tn Let's say i suffer from psychotic depression.I read it is treat with a combination of antipsychotic and triciyclic antidepressants.

1745492 tn?1320198340 I am diagnosed with bipolar disorder. It's not severe, but I need medication. I'm on Lamictal. My symptoms were a lot worse before starting this medication. The only thing I still notice are occasional anger/rage episodes. I will yell, throw and kick things, and break things. I've never hurt anyone else. Nothing seems to trigger them, though. Or if something does happen before one, it is very minor and doesn't constitute that amount of anger.
Avatar f tn As most of you know my husband has been taking Risperdal and Depakote for the pat 7 months (after being diagnosed with Bipolar--after trying to commit suicide, having a Major Manic Episode/ extremely psychotic and paranoid).
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
Avatar m tn My pdoc yesterday told me it's possible to have a psychotic break from too severe anxiety. This scares me bad, what is that? Does that mean I'll go crazy and hurt someone? Myself? Has anyone ever had one of these? Also is there anyone here that has had several months of severe anxiety, then slowly goes back to several months of calm? I'm afraid this feeling will last forever. Just to make sure I'm experiencing this "anxiety" what does it feel like to u all?
1044813 tn?1370494406 Hello all, I would like to request the addition of Seroquel (quetiapine) which is an anti-psychotic to the mood tracker. Seroquel is very commonly prescribed for the treatment of both manic and depressive episodes of bipolar disorder.
Avatar f tn Wow you guys are waaaaay off melancholic depression is a more severe form of depression which is psychotic in nature. It gets it's name because it is depression coupled with an extreme apathy and inability to feel joy when say complimented etc. It's always worse in the mornings. I highly recommend that if you think you have this you speak to a dr immediately as some people (myself Included) suffer from psychotic episodes of intense fear and rage.
Avatar f tn Dysphoric mania is just a specifier of a mixed episode, basically. Mood episodes can be mixed in a variety of ways, but usually they're described as either dysphoric mania, where the predominant mood is mania but with depressed features, or as agitated depression, where the predominant mood is depression but there are features of mania. It can be a bit confusing, but the terms are essentially one and the same.
Avatar f tn (Even if this is not true, they take that more seriously than just a thyroid issue) One of the worst things about being hyperthyroid in extreme is the fact it can make you psychotic. Many hospitals now test thyroid when a patient is brought in for psychotic episodes. Left untreated she may well do something drastic. I urge you to call a hospital and ask her to organise getting her to psychiatric help as soon as possible. You will not regret doing this. I hope it all goes well.
Avatar f tn Since Wellbutin, Lamictal and Topaxax all have the same side effects of anxiety, hyperactivity, insomnia, mood swings why use them to treat a manic episode, especially a severe one? My Psych. has me on all three, plus Klonopin, am not getting anybetter and refuse to take anti-psychotic meds.
1360950 tn?1277656603 I am not in an episode and have had hallucinations very rarely, I do not understand why I must take a mood stabilizer and an antiphyscotic? How do they differ?
1439426 tn?1283970705 Is it possible to hallucinate while having a mixed episode? I believe I have.
