Avatar n tn Though I am not addicted and have not used the drug in two years, I am worried about the damage I sustained during this one year period when I would abuse the drug, infrequently, but heavily nonetheless. If anyone has information about long-term effects for short-term, heavy abuse of Robitussin (8 instances of over-dosing on 40 gel-cap pills per instance) I'd love to hear it. Thanks for your comment.
Avatar m tn If you have had depression before then you are talking about long term treatment with medication. When you have had one episode of depression you have a 50% chance of having it again; after a second one a 75% chance of having another.... and it increases each time you have a discrete episode of depression, meaning you have been stable between the episodes.
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
Avatar f tn Hello, I have a long history of depression and anxiety issues. Back in 2006 I got really low and took an overdose of my antidepressant-Effexor and Olanzipine, I cant recall the exact quantities I took but it was about 8 capsules of Effexor (75mg) and a couple of Olanzipine (5mg). I seemed to 'pull through' this incident fairly well, but for the now I am wondering what kind of long term damage I could've done to my system, as most of the time I never really feel that healthy.
2064758 tn?1331299797 why do they treat bi-polar with Thorazine or haldol? Are they trying to knock the person out, so that their brain heals? Avatar f tn BUT, I have to take it or I am in pain. So try not to worry so much about the long term effects when you are trying to survive today. If you are worried about this I would talk to my doctor and let them know what you are experiencing and there may be something they can do differently. Just dont stop any seizure med without a doctors help. Hope you feel better..

5051252 tn?1362970368 What you are experiencing is in the class of neurological events called (loosely) a psychotic episode. I have them, too, but mine are very mild... I just see some shadows that aren't there sometimes. Please see your doctor about this as soon as possible, to rule out things like your brain not receiving enough oxygen, blood work to rule out any danger of diabetes or low blood counts, things of that sort.
Avatar m tn Its also worth mentioning here that sometimes during this Non-Psychotic state I also do a lot of household work ( both outside and inside ) with enthusiasm although there is depression in my subconscious mind.
