230948 tn?1235844329 Hi, I had a psychotic episode after being on fentanol pain patches for just a few weeks. I was hallucinating, having vivid dreams and felt really sedated. I use Lidoderm patches instead and don't have any side effects from it. I LOVE Lyrica and wouldn't give it up for nothing or anyone -- I would certainly challenge my dr before giving it up. I'm sorry your hubby left you and your children. Concentrate on getting better and if you and he work it out later then it was meant to be.
Avatar f tn They used to being little children with no cares in the world, being supervised at all times, and feeling like the center of attention, to now wanting more independence, people having bigger expectations of them, and having responsibilities like chores, schoolwork, social relationships, and manners. The world suddenly seems big and confusing and contradictory and that can be hard to deal with, it requires developing a whole new set of skills.
Avatar f tn My bipolar husband has become extremely controlling. I read others' posts and it's like he's being described to a T, so I guess I'm not alone.
Avatar n tn 5 which I feel fine.. As of late I have been waking up with what my friend believes is psychotic episodes, moments of ultra confusion for me as I usually have no recolection. It is now getting to the point where I could hurt myself as I thrash about and walk into walls. I had a CT Scan which showed no problem. These attacks which I thought where TIA"s (Transient ischaemic attacks) mini strokes if you like proved otherwise..
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
5051252 tn?1362970368 yeah - definitely do not think it has anything with a psychotic episode - haha. either way, i do have tinnitus in my left ear - possibly has something to do with it, i am sure. i have been fine today and last night - so i will continue to keep an eye out on it. if it persists, i will go see someone. i was more so looking to see if anyone else has been through this.

1256303 tn?1291752568 For schizoaffective, you have to have the psychosis part (the part A criterion for schizophrenia) for at least 2 weeks without being in the middle of a mood episode. If you only ever have psychosis while in a mood episode, then it's probably bipolar with psychotic features. But it doesn't really matter from a treatment standpoint; you'll need an antipsychotic and maybe lithium/an anticonvulsant mood stabilizer as well to control the bipolar and the psychosis either way.
Avatar m tn Let's say i suffer from psychotic depression.I read it is treat with a combination of antipsychotic and triciyclic antidepressants.

Avatar m tn My pdoc yesterday told me it's possible to have a psychotic break from too severe anxiety. This scares me bad, what is that? Does that mean I'll go crazy and hurt someone? Myself? Has anyone ever had one of these? Also is there anyone here that has had several months of severe anxiety, then slowly goes back to several months of calm? I'm afraid this feeling will last forever. Just to make sure I'm experiencing this "anxiety" what does it feel like to u all?
1044813 tn?1370494406 Hello all, I would like to request the addition of Seroquel (quetiapine) which is an anti-psychotic to the mood tracker. Seroquel is very commonly prescribed for the treatment of both manic and depressive episodes of bipolar disorder.
1037594 tn?1258562179 ve been suffering from a death of interest/anhedonia for the past 2 years now following a psychotic episode. I can tell you that persistent anhedonia -- if it is not caused by medications, illicit drugs, clinical depression, or a recent traumatic event -- is incurable and is most likely a result of some permanent loss of brain functioning. Anhedonia and lack of interest are two key negative symptoms of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.
1360950 tn?1277656603 I am not in an episode and have had hallucinations very rarely, I do not understand why I must take a mood stabilizer and an antiphyscotic? How do they differ?
Avatar f tn Since Wellbutin, Lamictal and Topaxax all have the same side effects of anxiety, hyperactivity, insomnia, mood swings why use them to treat a manic episode, especially a severe one? Avatar f tn Hello. What is a better exam of the brain to see if a psychotic episode history is caused by something in the brain, ex. tumor etc.? MRI or CT scan? And why? Thank you.
933174 tn?1375792553 The same is true of mania and it can cross over into psychosis in people with schizoaffective or bipolar with psychotic features. Although I had a close to full mitigation of psychosis with what I am on, last night was the first night in years that I went to bed at midnight and slept a full night. Before that I was going to bed at 3 A.M. That one prescription I am taking does function as a mood stabilizer.
Avatar f tn 1st, having an initial psychotic episode at 38 is unusual, so it is probably not something squarely in the "psychotic family" of conditions. It is possible (although unlikely) to have an initial manic episode after having previous depressive episodes. There is information that link paranoid/delusional thinking with menstruation, especially with a history of intense PMS (it is sometimes referred to as premenstrual dysphoric disorder, PMDD).
Avatar m tn Its also worth mentioning here that sometimes during this Non-Psychotic state I also do a lot of household work ( both outside and inside ) with enthusiasm although there is depression in my subconscious mind.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with dissociative disorder and ptsd before i had a major psychotic episode where i felt everything was repeating itself war, protests from the native people blocking major highways, noise of airplanes, it was canada day. I am a survivor of a war, my city was under siege for two months i lost friends at 14, I've seen a lot of sadness in my younger years but i don't understand why this hit me at 41. I am scared to be in that mental state again.
