Avatar n tn They usually only happen in the morning, sometimes they pass and I put them down to a bad dream but other times I physically get up and go on a hysterical rampage through the house, sometimes I hurt myself. I am I feel out of glucose but not energy. My partner I live with does not have the strength to hold me down to take a blood sample. Would it be better if my partner just stuck a glucagon needle in me and ask questions later.

Avatar f tn I am on Lamictal and it's worked great so far - but I do have these delusions, at times! It's scary at times because they are so real - and I know it's my paranoia kicking in. My ex told me all of these things that I didn't remember until getting on Lamictal - really paranoid things. It was weird because I would ask him - "Did I do this???" or "Did I say that??

1965148 tn?1354978634 As others here have commented, a real psychotic episode, which is a very serious event, must occur in order for their to be a true 'bipolar I' diagnosis. The diagnostic 'bar' for labling someone as 'manic depressive' must be high, because of the risks of the medications that are needed to control this illness, among other factors.
Avatar m tn *I usually have some memory of the episode. It is like I am aware of what I am doing, but it feels like a dream. If something wakes me, I am very disoriented, as the details from the dream fade and are replaced by the fact that it is the middle of the night and it was not entirely a dream. The episodes usually occur shortly after falling asleep or shortly before morning.
Avatar f tn What you originally experienced in the store sounds like a psychotic episode...I would recommend talking to a therapist and saying everything you typed and just see what she thinks. You might really benefit from having more medications on board, it seems to me your anxiety is based on fear of feeling that out of control feeling of a psychotics episode.
Avatar m tn This is not what I asked for at all. I've never had a psychotic episode, have had mushrooms multiple times, and haven't taken them in two years. Your articles refer to abuse. Downvote for didactic and not following the rubric.
Avatar f tn Since Wellbutin, Lamictal and Topaxax all have the same side effects of anxiety, hyperactivity, insomnia, mood swings why use them to treat a manic episode, especially a severe one? My Psych. has me on all three, plus Klonopin, am not getting anybetter and refuse to take anti-psychotic meds.

733744 tn?1337950650 I start hoarding for a rainy day. I get real psychotic and paranoid. My last episode I went into mixed state...depression and mania. Not a pleasant feeling.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with dissociative disorder and ptsd before i had a major psychotic episode where i felt everything was repeating itself war, protests from the native people blocking major highways, noise of airplanes, it was canada day. I am a survivor of a war, my city was under siege for two months i lost friends at 14, I've seen a lot of sadness in my younger years but i don't understand why this hit me at 41. I am scared to be in that mental state again.
Avatar f tn I have been married to my husband since my 7-year-old stepdaughter was just 3. We have always had a good relationship, though I have felt like she is clingy and perhaps a tad manipulative. She is the only child of two only children, and the only grandchild of well-off grandparents who spoil her rotten. She lives with her mother and grandmother in a city 3 hours away.
Avatar f tn The tendency to this kind of episode is based on some combination of genetic and environmental factors. An episode may be a single episode and not require anything after it is completed, or part of another complex that does need to be treated.
585414 tn?1288941302 Well... I sort of had a dream like that a month ago or so but not in that context. It more showed me what life would be like if cognitive confusion happened constantly for every single movement I would try to make and such and actually scared and disturbed me even though it was actually someone else with schizophrenia that I was observing in the dream at how he was incapable of doing anything but he isn't a real person I know but he was a friend of a friend in real life in the dream.
1256303 tn?1291752568 For schizoaffective, you have to have the psychosis part (the part A criterion for schizophrenia) for at least 2 weeks without being in the middle of a mood episode. If you only ever have psychosis while in a mood episode, then it's probably bipolar with psychotic features. But it doesn't really matter from a treatment standpoint; you'll need an antipsychotic and maybe lithium/an anticonvulsant mood stabilizer as well to control the bipolar and the psychosis either way.
Avatar m tn Psychosis can accompany depression, not just mania. I've had it happen both ways, though for me, it's far more common in a mixed episode or a manic episode. Each person is a little different. What behaviormakes you view her as being psychotic/delusional? Personally, with what limited a glimpse I am provided by your post, I would continue to communicate with her as though she's perfectly fine for now. If an opportunity arises in conversation, take it and gently ask if she is ok.
Avatar m tn I like valerinababy's analogy. Recovery from any kind of mood episode has at least three stages - 1. Feeling better - some kind of noticeable improvement. Usually happens within a couple of weeks of getting on the right dose and type of medication. 2. Having minimal if any residual mood symptoms.
1037594 tn?1258562179 ve been suffering from a death of interest/anhedonia for the past 2 years now following a psychotic episode. I can tell you that persistent anhedonia -- if it is not caused by medications, illicit drugs, clinical depression, or a recent traumatic event -- is incurable and is most likely a result of some permanent loss of brain functioning. Anhedonia and lack of interest are two key negative symptoms of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.
Avatar f tn 5 cm anterior to right temporal lobe was found. He has c/o forgetfulness, h/a, and had a severe manic episode with auditory hallucinations and paranoia. Could all this be related to his cyst? No family history of bipolar disorder. Also, what would treatment be? Surgery? Expected recovery time? What are chances mania will recurr?
Avatar f tn I hear ya.... I had the "pill dreams" a couple of times. They're over now though. Now I dream that I'm a suspect on an episode of CSI. I mutilated some guy and got rid of the body parts... It was an hour episode and in the end right before I got caught... I woke up... Weird? Definitely.... Our brains are most active when we are sleeping and dreams in themselves I find to be kinda trippy.... Hopefully it wasn't a trigger for you?
Avatar m tn Problems With Communication Probably the most common thing that happens during a psychotic episode is that you have a lot of trouble talking straight. Your words and sentences get garbled -- all mixed up like a "word salad.
Avatar f tn Anyway, I was in the midst of a mixed episode and I was very close to being psychotic. I slashed up my arms really bad, some 30 cuts, and I was told about 5 of them should have had a good number of stitches. It feels like a dream now, and at the time, I thought it was *funny*. I was laughing to myself when I was doing it. Anyway, a few days later I was hospitalized. It was a real sucky psychiatric hospital, but a doctor did something to me there that angers me now when I think about it.
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
Avatar m tn My pdoc yesterday told me it's possible to have a psychotic break from too severe anxiety. This scares me bad, what is that? Does that mean I'll go crazy and hurt someone? Myself? Has anyone ever had one of these? Also is there anyone here that has had several months of severe anxiety, then slowly goes back to several months of calm? I'm afraid this feeling will last forever. Just to make sure I'm experiencing this "anxiety" what does it feel like to u all?
1044813 tn?1370494406 Hello all, I would like to request the addition of Seroquel (quetiapine) which is an anti-psychotic to the mood tracker. Seroquel is very commonly prescribed for the treatment of both manic and depressive episodes of bipolar disorder.
