1256303 tn?1291752568 I have schizoaffective disorder (with the bipolar aspect) and before my current recovery I had psychotic thoughts and delusions at all times (depending on my response to treatment as well of course). I do know that for schizoaffective disorder delusions and psychosis occur at all times whereas in bipolar with psychotic features they occur only during moodswings.
Avatar n tn 5 which I feel fine.. As of late I have been waking up with what my friend believes is psychotic episodes, moments of ultra confusion for me as I usually have no recolection. It is now getting to the point where I could hurt myself as I thrash about and walk into walls. I had a CT Scan which showed no problem. These attacks which I thought where TIA"s (Transient ischaemic attacks) mini strokes if you like proved otherwise..
230948 tn?1235844329 Hi, I had a psychotic episode after being on fentanol pain patches for just a few weeks. I was hallucinating, having vivid dreams and felt really sedated. I use Lidoderm patches instead and don't have any side effects from it. I LOVE Lyrica and wouldn't give it up for nothing or anyone -- I would certainly challenge my dr before giving it up. I'm sorry your hubby left you and your children. Concentrate on getting better and if you and he work it out later then it was meant to be.
1044813 tn?1370494406 Seroquel (quetiapine) is an anti-psychotic medication that originally was approved for use on Schizophrenia but has shown to work for both Bipolar-Manic episode and Bipolar-Depressive episodes. It is quickly becoming a very common prescribed medication for those with Bipolar. With this medication now becoming a common and approved use I was recommending that it be added on it's own.
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
Avatar m tn Its also worth mentioning here that sometimes during this Non-Psychotic state I also do a lot of household work ( both outside and inside ) with enthusiasm although there is depression in my subconscious mind.
Avatar n tn A person from my family went undiagnosed for many years despite strange behavior, only when she had a psychotic episode did she allow us to take her to a doctor and was diagnosed with paranoid disorder. The symptoms fit her "usual" symptoms (i.e. those she's had for years) - relatively coherent delusions of being disliked, plotted against, of her flat being bugged, someone stealing things when she's out.
933174 tn?1375792553 Keep seeing the p work, psychotic, sort gets me worried. I don't see myself as psychotic. My doctor doesn't think I'm psychotic, I think he just thinks that when I'm very depressed I can get this way. I remember calling my therapist while I was in San Diego on a nightmare vacation, where the whole time I thought I had rabies or something was terriblly wrong with me. I might add, I was also on a medication for birth control called yaz, which I think contributed to the whole thing.
Avatar f tn 1st, having an initial psychotic episode at 38 is unusual, so it is probably not something squarely in the "psychotic family" of conditions. It is possible (although unlikely) to have an initial manic episode after having previous depressive episodes. There is information that link paranoid/delusional thinking with menstruation, especially with a history of intense PMS (it is sometimes referred to as premenstrual dysphoric disorder, PMDD).
Avatar f tn Husband diagnosed 11 months ago with BP, had a Major Manic Episode (tried to commit suicide), Psychotic/Paranoid for at least 3 months. Was on meds (Risperdal and Depakote) for only 6 months and abruptly stopped. Taking no meds now. He left home 1 months ago. He wanted to separate and there was nothing his family and I could do! The one thing that still Puzzles me is that since he was Psychotic (and of course 'making things up' I wouldn't call them lies...
Avatar m tn My pdoc yesterday told me it's possible to have a psychotic break from too severe anxiety. This scares me bad, what is that? Does that mean I'll go crazy and hurt someone? Myself? Has anyone ever had one of these? Also is there anyone here that has had several months of severe anxiety, then slowly goes back to several months of calm? I'm afraid this feeling will last forever. Just to make sure I'm experiencing this "anxiety" what does it feel like to u all?
Avatar f tn I have had only 1 mild paranoid event during mania that came years after my first recognized mania, so I obviously DO NOT understand psychotic features of BP at all. But my ex-husband has had many psychotic events. He has Bipolar Disorder w/ psychotic features. He has gone into psychosis many times, and is extremely paranoid. After reading the Bipolar Child I see that he has been bipolar his whole life, and has only been diagnosed 3 months ago.
Avatar f tn Since Wellbutin, Lamictal and Topaxax all have the same side effects of anxiety, hyperactivity, insomnia, mood swings why use them to treat a manic episode, especially a severe one? My Psych. has me on all three, plus Klonopin, am not getting anybetter and refuse to take anti-psychotic meds.
Avatar m tn I was on a psychotropic drug for about 4 months for an acute psychotic episode I experienced in the fall. While on the drug I experienced muscle tension and lightheadedness all the time, which got worse when I went from sitting to standing. I was only on a moderate dose. I was told to get off the drug by my gastroenterologist. I've been off of the drug for a month and a half now.
Avatar f tn I have been married to my husband since my 7-year-old stepdaughter was just 3. We have always had a good relationship, though I have felt like she is clingy and perhaps a tad manipulative. She is the only child of two only children, and the only grandchild of well-off grandparents who spoil her rotten. She lives with her mother and grandmother in a city 3 hours away.
Avatar f tn It could also take some time to find the medication which is right for her because not every medication works the same and as effectively for every single person but chances are that one of them will work for her eventually. It could be bipolar disorder with psychotic features like ILADVOCATE said or some psychotic disorder since 120 conditions can have psychosis as a symptom.
Avatar f tn Hello. What is a better exam of the brain to see if a psychotic episode history is caused by something in the brain, ex. tumor etc.? MRI or CT scan? And why? Thank you.
1527334 tn?1291701717 s usually been more self-destructive, cutting, yelling, throwing/hitting things, maybe going on a cleaning or shopping spree, or getting angry at someone. But Saturday night, I was starting to feel agitated and restless again. I walked out of the house without a word, barefoot and in nothing but shorts and a t-shirt in below-zero weather as it was snowing heavily, got into my car, and started speeding around town.
