What I mean is that it is a normal reaction to an extremely abusive and traumatic event(s). Antidepressants can help you. Therapy for post traumatic stress can help you. Go to any rape clinic - you were raped no matter what sex you are - and ask for names of counselors. Catholic Charities can offer you services. Salvation Army. There is help out there.

Well I heard classically this happens in schizophrenia but I think it also can happen in bipolar disorder where you stay in a deteriorated state as mentioned although a doctor mentioned that people with psychosis in other mental disorders generally recover back to baseline classically after the psychotic break is over. I guess it all depends on the severity of the psychotic break and other such factors.

In mood swings there are difficulties in the understanding of emotions and relations with people and ability to focus and understand things and make appropriate decisions but when a person encounters psychotic symptoms there is a full break in reality testing. Tranquilizes only work for a short period of time and then wear off. If she took this as an antipsychotic injection, it would be during an emergency situation but she would have to take the shots for several months and then go on the medication for longer than that.

Seroquel is an antipsychotic agent. It is used to manage psychotic disorders including Bi-Polar Disorder and Schizophrenia. It is not an antidepressant. There are serious side effects that can be associated with this med. as well as any antipsychotic med. The benefits must outweight the risks and the dosage must be correctly prescribed and taken. It is only used for the two above mentioned conditions. If you've been prescribed this med. it's because of that.

Yes of course like anything else. Before I recovered I would know things were not going well. I would not of course know the specifics. I would then speak to my psychiatrist. But if someone is completely psychotic they lose track of reality completely. As well a person's awareness they that have a psychiatric disability can be completely lost. I did once before I recovered stop medication and of course have to sign myself into the psychiatric hospital.

ANYWAY, can you have psychotic episodes during mania/depression and it not be bipolar with psychotic features or is that actually what is? Example - I have had times when my mania has been described by my pdoc as a psychotic break.

Ok so I started out thinking I had a hemroid and then two small red blisters appeared on my labia the next day so I went and had it looked at and it was herpes and I thought it was vaginal herpes. I have been doing research online looking at symptoms and I'm starting to wonder if it's not anal herpes. So what I'm wondering is if it was Anal herpes blisters can form on the vagina area or not?

As you could likely guess it is hard to keep a lot of people on here because (like me) it is easy to stick around for a while then BAM depression hits and you don't sign in for a while. Ok. But is it common to be manic all year round like I am. Even with the meds. Like I said I only hit the depressive mode when I hear a certain melody or when its those to holidays but I never stay in it for long. But I wouldnt say just depressed its mixed.

I think the only reason I made it through it is because I teeter towards the agitated-manic side of the disorder and the only real relief I got from any of it was going to class and studying. I was lucky to pass, though, I was hospitalized the weekend before finals. The stress of taking finals didn't trigger anything; I had a bad mixed episode. Thankfully, when I told my professors what was going on, they were very helpful and gave me alot of leeway.

What about the noticeable behavior change, is it related? Did I increase my chance of getting parkinson?( My uncle was diagnosed with it in his early 40s!) What can I do to fix what is fixable? O I am 23 year old & don't take any medication. Thank you in advance.

Sounds like you are ruminating over these past issues you've had and that DBT could maybe help you with that. Try just accepting that what happened has happened and there's nothing you can do to change the past and you don't know if another psychotic break is going to occur just as much as your illness itself probably doesn't even know if another one is going to occur.

am taking 400mgs/day with no side effects but it seems to have stopped working. it prob needs an anti psychotic to boost it for me but pdoc hasn't come up with one yet. you do h ave to take increases v. slowly to avoid lamictal rash etc.. i increased every fifth day. pdoc should be monitoring carefully to watch out for any side effects, good luck with it.

Seroquel is an antipsychotic and I believe by psychiatric standards that is a subclinical dose (when I was on it 300 mg. was where it started working). Not sure what "the pill to calm her nerves" is? You mean an anti-anxiety medication? Although only a psychiatrist can determine medication dosages and which medication to use I'd suggest you inform yourself.

So my dreams have always been foggy/cloudy as if I were just imagining them while awake but lately my dreams have become very vivid as if I'm not even in my body while I'm having them. My meds were coincidentally increased and are having more of a positive effect on me than they did last time they were increased but I've also had a psychotic break between now and then.

Clots are completely normal, there is no reason to worry unless they are larger than a golf ball. Dont ever be afraid to talk to your drs, they have seen and heard everything!!

Hello, this is my first question ever and I'm looking for help. For awhile now (since i was 7 years old, I'm 18 now) I've been struggling with abdominal issues forever. When I was 7 i had blood in my stool, i thought it was because i ate a sunflower seed, so i stopped eating those- but then it happened again when I was 8. after that i would eat something and it felt like it would go right through me because i was in the bathroom 2 minutes later for 20 minutes.

upon further research it seems doctor was also right about the psychotic depression...i think thats what it may be. i watched a video that described me perfectly...he has me on an inital dose of 10mg which he waas really insistant of..i was reluctant because i wanna go slow but he said that would not help me. That i should start with 10 mg...its helping a little bit...still up and down..intense to calm...
