Has anyone taking prozac experienced a foggy headed feeling? It started off with dizziness when I was at 10 mg, but now it is more of a feeling like my head is clouded up (recently stated 20mg). Sometimes it is hard to think clearly. I noticed that it is better when it is dark out. Could this be a side effect that is short term? Or could it possibly just be from anxiety showing through?
My psychiatrist has just added Zyprexa to take with Prozac as the Prozac is not working like it used to work.I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?
I took Prozac for a couple years, I did gain weight and honestly they made me feel like a total zombie. I had no emotion no matter what environment I was in. It works for some people but if its not working for you, you can try something else, but talk to your doctor about it. There are tons of anti depressants out there.
I went to another Dr who came recommended to me, and she wants me to also take Klonopin and start taking Prozac while tapering off Paxil. I am scared to do either. I finally went ahead and tried the Klonopin (.25) but have only taken it in the morning and twice a day as prescribed as I don't want to be addicited or a zombie.
The web site Drugs.com Lexapro entry advises the following: "Tell your doctor if you have worsening symptoms of depression or suicidal thoughts during the first several weeks of treatment, or whenever your dose is changed." Also "it may take four weeks or longer before you start feeling better".
I wouldn't worry about becoming a zombie.
My doctor recently started me on 40 mg of prozac a little over 2 weeks ago. I have taken numerous depression drugs in the past where my doc has started me on a very low dosage and worked me up to higher dosages but on prozac we went straight to 40 mg. I have been having headaches, nausua and dizziness. I thought these symptoms would fade away but I have had no luck. I'm beginning to wonder if this dosage is too high. I don't know anything about prozac....
When I was on them, I was fat, (went from 130 to 160, I have always ate very healthy, exercised and drink water) and the drugs made me a zombie. The highest dose I was on was 50mg for zoloft and 20mg for prozac. I am hoping that I never have to go back on them again! Even with my digestive issues, I feel SO much better mentally! My mind has never been more clear!
Prozac is sometimes used at low dosage at the end of a difficult taper off a med to get you off the old med and onto Prozac because Prozac stays in the body longer than other SSRIs and is for that reason thought to have fewer withdrawal problems. But this doesn't necessarily work and it takes 4-6 weeks before you're "on" a new drug, though side effects start right away.
I went on Prozac for about 6 weeks to deal with my adult daughter that has OCD and has ruminating thoughts for most of her 30 yrs. The stress of living with her and her constant legal and emotional issues has taken a toll on me. I weened myself off it because it was starting to change my thought process. When I would get in a car i would be so out of it that I almost got into an accident. I felt a little like a zombie. I was only on 10mg. I guess that I am very sensitive to meds.

t help much, i have took many combos over the years and the only ones that do anything are the ones that turn me into a zombie. they lessen the frequency of my bipolar manic episodes but not much for the anxiety,....and i have seen therapists but they dont help either,....
Family doc started me on Trazadone which just made me feel like a zombie and shortly after switched me to Wellbutrin 150mg daily. I am actually feeling more anxious now BUT love the assistance it has given me in weight loss. Wondering if I need to quit the Wellbutrin altogether or if it would be a possibility to keep it and add prozac or effexor.
t necessarily work the same as it would with a pure ssri, which prozac is. Some people use prozac to take people off other ssris because it has a longer life in the body, but you still have to taper off it, too, but since Effexor also targets norepinephrine receptors, not just serotonin as prozac does, I don't know if this works. As for your shrink saying it doesn't sound like withdrawal, they almost always say that. They really are clueless on withdrawal.
Im NOT BIPOLAR but have bad anxiety and depression and my dr put me on it one week ago and im also on xnax and i feel so eMPTY and gloomy wondering if depakote er would cause this i semed to have a hard time caoncentratinga bout 3 days ago felt like a zombie now im gloomy and i also have a pain in my left arm.
Does anyone have an experience of what it was like? OR If not Prozac, does anyone have any recommendation for meds that have worked for them that didn't leave them tired all the time. Or maybe in addition to the effexor? I know the libido maybe a lost cause, but the sleep is driving me crazy. I know everyone's different, but anyone better than my doc at this point.

I think you should try medication, im currently on prozac for HOCD and its really helping me out.... yea there are negative side effects but overall i think it is a good choice.
I wanted to try a new medication first of all. Zoloft was awful. I didnt care about anything what so ever. I was a complete zombie. Then, i tried prozac. A very small dose. That has helped SO much. It calms me down but it doesnt make me feel crappy about everyone and everything. For the past month or so it's been a lot better. One thing that has helped is this online thing called "Panic away", i feel as if its a mental car wash.
