Prozac with lexapro

Common Questions and Answers about Prozac with lexapro

prozac

Avatar n tn My psychiatrist has just added Zyprexa to take with Prozac as the Prozac is not working like it used to work.I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?
1348686 tn?1310654243 So the dr prescribed me prozac for my anxiety after we found out I am allergic to lexapro. Can anyone tell me if they have had any luck with prozac. I am disappointed about the lexapro because even though I was only on it for 3 weeks it was really helping me. I just hate starting new meds....
Avatar n tn My husband was diagnosed with depression last year. He started taking Lexapro and it made a huge difference in his mood and anger levels. Unfortunately, the Lexapro made him loose his appetite and become very nauseous . He also felt like it was loosing its potency after a few months. His doctor tried to raise his dosage to combat the diminishing effects, but his stomach couldn't handle that. He was switched over to Prozac (after a few weeks of titration).
Avatar m tn My daughter is transitioning from lexapro to prozac. She suffers from clinical depression...diagnosed over 1.5 years ago. She seems worse than ever and will barely get out of bed, listless comes to mind. Is this to be expected?
Avatar m tn My doctor is weening me off Prozac and started 10 mg of lexapro for a week then I increase to 20 mg and still dropping the dose of Prozac daily. Can I take the lexapro in the a.m. with my other pills? It says to take lexapro at night but what's the difference. Also, does anybody take anything else for anxiety?
433485 tn?1321813390 I am on 30 mg of lexapro and 1 mg of klonopin 3 times a day ( klonopin) we switched to lexapro several months ago as I was on prozac and was a mess! So far I have been doing better, just a little anxiety when I first wake up. Not sure if this was normal or not.
Avatar f tn Oh, there are LOTS and LOTS of positive stories out there...you don't read about them as much in a place like this, because people usually are seeking help after having a BAD experience (like you did unfortunately). Personally, I think AD's are the best thing since sliced bread! On several occasions, they allowed me to be "normal" again, while I worked on my problems with a therapist due to having panic disorder. I'm not going to say I had a flawless experience...
Avatar f tn That is in addition to the extreme insomnia. So i went back to the doc and he has changed me from prozac to lexapro, and added remeron for sleep. He said i could start the lexapro in the morning, and i assume i can take the remeron tonight if i want, but im hesitant to take it. Any advice?
Avatar f tn I didn't with Prozac but another one in that class of meds. You may be really sensitive to medication? 5mg is such a low dose. I know that all of these can cause start up or transient side effects that usually go away once our body is used to the medication and starting on a low dose is how they make them less and then increase the dose slowly up. But you already are taking such a low dose! Being jittery is one of the side effects they talk about.
Avatar m tn than that drug is not for you. Doctors tend to over prescribe some meds. My personal experience with Lexapro is that I felt terrible up to 10 mg.. went down to 5mg, and felt slightly better but still some anxiety and side effects. Now I've been taking half a pill (2.5 mg) for 4 months and I feel the best I've ever felt in years of trying everything.. literally. (Ativan, Paxil , Zoloft, Wellbutrin.. etc.
959034 tn?1253671476 I went off the Prozac and switched over to Lexapro. This has helped a lot with my general anxiety, and my psychiatrist has given me klonopin to help with the occasional panic that pops up. Prozac is approved to treat panic disorder, but it tends to have an "uppity" effect compared other antidepressants - and this can exacerbate anxiety.
1288270 tn?1301287612 I agree with cj, you need to work closely with your prescribing doctor on this.
Avatar f tn Lexapro did not work for me either. There are so many option you want to check with your doctor if its not working for you, so they can get you on something else that will work. If you are looking for names there is Prozac, pristiq, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, cymbalta, etc.... Just speak with your doctor first.
Avatar n tn I started 20 mg of celexa and it made me tired and didnt really help then i changed to 20mg of Prozac sometimes i feel better with it but more often worse than not. Does anyone have any suggestions for new meds or should i up the dosage??
Avatar f tn I have been referred to a Phsyciatrist and he has prescribed me with Prozac starting with 20mg and working up to 40mg, but dilemma is whether to take them or not. I am medication free for the last 8 weeks and I don't feel as brain dead but the anxiety and my mood is taking its tole on me at the moment. Should I hang in another while or just take the Proxac!!!!!!
Avatar f tn I've been on Wellbutrin for years but it's not working like it once did. My dr added Lexapro 10mg to take with it. It's only been 2 days but my head hurts and I feel weird and a little hyper but Iits been improving my mood. Has anyone else struggled with side effects like mine or should I call my doctor. How long do you think till I get use to them. Maybe I can cut them in half.
1042423 tn?1260994959 I have personally had a good experience with Prozac. Now, of course...I also had a lot of luck with Zoloft and Lexapro as well. I WILL say that the side effects of Prozac were much less severe and noticeable than the other two...I hardly had any side effects at all. Prozac is notorious for being easier to tolerate than some of the other AD's. I hope that you do well on the Prozac. If you do experience some mild side effects...
Avatar f tn I was told to quit lexapro 20mg cold turkey and start 20mg of prozac the next day, which i did. The first 6 days I felt great then the 7th day hit and began having waves of dizziness, or feelings like my brain was shaking and having a hard time focusing with my eyes. I am now 4 weeks out from switching and continue to have intermittent periods of this weird "dizzy" feeling. Am I having withdrawal issues from the lexapro and how long will it last??
Avatar m tn Ditto on JSGeare. I was prescribed lexapro and prozac. Lexapro sent me to the ER with a major anxiety attack and prozac also made me nervous. Long story short, my doc. and physchiatrist recognized that I ONLY needed ativan for my anxiety. Unfortunately and for some reason, a lot of doctors out there are trying to treat anxiety with anti-depressants. Anti-depressants are uppers and they basically make you more nervous. These drugs are good for depressive folks. However, for anxiety...
Avatar n tn I have never been through anything so hard in my life. My doctor is wanting me to try Prozac. She thinks this will help with the withdrawals. I am afraid to try Prozac. I have read so much about Lexapro withdrawal. Some say that the symptoms could last over a year. I think you need to contact your doctor and see what he/she says. Good luck and remember you have company through this awful process.
Avatar m tn The only other medications I am on are Klonopin and Gianvi (birth control), neither of which should interact with the Prozac. Since the prozac, I have been vomiting, not sleeping, and feeling "out of it". The pharmacist I spoke with said it should take one more day to get out of my system. If I did in fact have serotonin syndrome, I would most likely either be dead by now or coming out of it, correct?
Avatar m tn In the past I had good results for severe depression and anxiety with prozac. I have just started back on it after being on Lexapro for 3years (it pooped out) and effexor for 3 months (didn't work and raised BP). I am hoping it works as well this time as it did before.
1448936 tn?1363206346 m insanely nervous about my heartbeat now which im sure isnt helping the situation and im scared to start the prozac because i had a HORRIBLE experience with lexapro last year. My doc told me most people tolerate prozac pretty well which is why she prescribed it to me since the lexapro really screwed me up. So...has anyone dealt with a rapid heartbeat due to stress and has anyone had good experiences with prozac??
