Hi all, I am severely depressed & have been taking Prozac for a month now & my doc suggested Abilify to add. I had already put on 30lbs from lexapro, which is part of becoming depressed again. I have been on the Abilify for 6days now & can tell it is having a positive impact on me. I have had enough motivation to work out the past two days & I am really watching what I'm eating. Has anyone here had success with losing weight on Abilify & prozac?

Do any of you have any experience with Prozac and Lamictal as far as weight or loss?

Do you guys have any explanation for the weight loss and reduction in testosterone levels? The loss in testosterone and weight is very large given the time span. What are some suggestions? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

As we exercise we build lean body muscle mass which weight more than fat so the scale reflects no weight loss when in fact the body is trimming down fat. The tape measure will measure loss of inches and your clothes will start to feel looser. Hope this helped you.

I'm on 10mg of Prozac and have noticed some weight gain within the past 2 months or so and my doctor has suggested I start taking Wellbutrin along with the Prozac but my biggest concern is having panic attacks. I suffer from panic disorder w/ agoraphobia and the Prozac has been helping but I'm afraid that adding on the Wellbutrin may counteract that. (I know it is considered a stimulant for a lot of people - hence the usual weight loss.

I have been taking prozac and wellbutrin. Some Drs. say its ok and some dont. I have been going on my second week with no wellbutrin and am staying nausea all the time. I felt like the Wellbutrin was causing me to gain weight.

t want me to come off the prozac as it was working for me in lots of other ways.They prescribed me Alli, a weight loss aid, which I am reluctant to take. I have an appointmentwith my doctor tomorrow so I'll discuss with her again.

i am wanting to know what other med i can take, that will not put so much weight on me. i have been told that prozac is ok and will not add weight. i also had a friend who was on paxil 20 mg. her doctor switched her avitan, and she loast 25 lbs. she is doing great. will this help me.

It can cause weight gain and it can cause weight loss. A lot of people have some fatigue with it so in that case you may be inclined to exercise less etc.. and therefore gain weight. However, over time, fatigue and other side effects usually fade away. How long have you been on it? After 2-3 months side effects are not terribly common.

A question to anyone out there that's taken Prozac and gained weight have they changed to a different medication because of it and which one? Did it do the job it needs to without the weight gain of Prozac?

ve heard that some people lose weight on prozac, but some people who are skinny to begin with (like me) often gain weight with prozac. I've been off it for ages but have recently gone on it again. I'm having a hard time adjusting back to it as well. From what I remember, last time it took me about a month before the side effects went away. You could try mirtazapine (Avanza) it wont affect your sex drive. I tried it, but it made me way too drowsy.

t want to go back up to 25mg of Paxil - I gained 40 pounds in less than 6 months and have gained a total of 55 pounds now. Since lowering the dose, I have lost some weight and started feeling better until the panic started recently. Would you recommend switching to Prozac instead? Most people switch to Wellbutrin but another very good choice is ask your doctor about prozac..it works well and there is no weight gain or sexual interest loss.
