prozac vs cymbalta

I have been using Cymbalta for alomost four years, I am very concerned that my Doc wants to start me on 40mg of Prozac when I have been on 120mg of Cymbalta. Can I have your thoughts about 40mg vs. 120mg and what side affects I will have to go though.

s they make me feel as if i am detoxing off opiates, so i hope these pills are not exagerating your detox, after some time you will be able to look back and see what was a symtom of the detox vs taking the prozac, i can promise you that your brain will go back to normal, its a rule of thumb that people with an addiction get their marbles back when they are 5 yrs clean, so it may take sometime, so hang in there and be in it for the long haul!!!

What your doctor will probably do is cut down the Celexa completely and give you 60mg Cymbalta after your first week on Cymbalta. 60mg will be your regular dose, 30mg is the starting dose.

Have suffered with Anxiety and Depression for the last 4 years, in that time I have been on Lexapro,Effexor and Cymbalta. About 8weeks ago Idecided to taper off Cymbalta as have felt that the medication seems to worsen my symptoms as well as making me extremely tired - I could sleep up to 16hrs a day which is not good with 2 young children.

I am currently switching from Cymbalta to Prozac. Was talking 60mg Cymbalta, doctor said to take 30mg for a week, start Prozac 20mg. I am experiencing severe leg cramps. Is that a side effect of coming off the Cymbalta?

I changed from cymbalta to prozac. Cymbalta has terrible side effects and withdrawal symptoms. You must use caution when changing. With my doctor's guidance (and my research) this is what i did to make the change: For the first three days, remove two (2) grains of medication from the capsule. The next three (3) days, remove 4 grains from the capsule. The next three (3) days, remove 6 grains from the capsule; and so on until you are off the medication.

Would you consider 120mg cymbalta and 60mg prozac as very gigh dose, doc just keeps increaing the cymbalta

I'm wondering if anybody has had experience in taking Cymbalta for anxiety and depression. I took Lexapro for several years and it stopped working, so I tried Zoloft this summer, which didn't help my anxiety at all, so now I'm back on the Lexapro and Buspar. I feel better than I did a few months ago in terms of anxiety, but nowhere near as well as I did in the past, and now my depression is horrible.

She also switched my prozac to Cymbalta 30mg once daily to manage depression / pain and also started me on 25mg amatriptyline at bed time for I assume depression. What she didn't tell me is how to stop prozac and start Cymbalta, I read you can't take both.

I want to know if anyone has switched safely from Cymbalta to Prozac? I was previously on Prozac for a couple of years and my dr. & I believed that it had stopped being as effective. I changed to Cymbalta with great results. However, I am starting to believe that it is no longer working and am considering changing back to Prozac. Has anyone else had trouble with the drugs effects tapering off like that? And if so, how do I go about safely making the change?

Prozac tends to be better for depression than for anxiety, but then, so is Cymbalta, since both are also stimulating (Cymbalta much more so). On the other hand, if Prozac works, it's probably the least troublesome of all these meds. Cymbalta is liver toxic for many and one of the hardest to get off of, while Prozac is one of the easiest to come off of since it stays in the body for a lot longer time and therefore the withdrawal is, for most people, slower and easier.

My doc switched me to Cymbalta. In the past 3 months I’ve gained 15 pounds. I want to switch back to Prozac. How should I do that?

So I slowly weaned off the lexapro and switched to cymbalta. For a week i took 5 mg of lexapro and a 30mg cymbalta. Now I am at a therapeutic dosage of 60mg cymbalta. And I also take clonozapem up to 3 times a day if I have panic attacks. Lexapro gave me gastroinstestinal side effects. While as Cymbalta now seems to give me sleep troubles/insomnia. However, sometimes the medication outweighs the side effects.

My dr said I could go down to 30mg of C, while adding 20mg of Prozac for 2 weeks. Then discontinue the cymbalta. I am weary of that because I was thinking when i discontinue the cymbalta to go up another 20 on Prozac, to make it 40mg all together, to lessen any effects. I know Prozac may take a but longer to get in your system. I am scared of this switch about side effects from cymbalta. Does this sounds like a good cross over to you, or would anyone recommend anything else? Thanks!!

I went happily to my psychiatrist thinking my Cymbalta (60mg) might be pooping out. I certainly wasn't having any major issues with anxiety or depression ON Cymbalta (loved it- been on 5 1/2 yrs for a depression episode in 2008). Worked great.

There are lots of different kinds of anti-depressants. None of them are exactly the same as each other, but they fall into different categories. Prozac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Cymbalta is a norephrine reuptake inhibitor, which is a VERY similar group, but it acts on adrenaline as well as serotonin, and is therefore stronger and has stronger side effects. I've been on both kinds, and found them both fine, except that the SSRI didn't work for me.

I'm not familar with cymbalta but if it's anything like prozac then yes it could very well be causing your palpitations. When I quit taking prozac I got them more frequently. If its causing you to be uncomfortable you should go to the doc.

Could they be inducing mania? Could you try a SSRI instead? Something like Prozac? I take a very low dose of Prozac (10mg) and couple it with a couple other different meds for my Fibro. I take Topamax and Soma as well for pain and migraines. It seems to be a good combo. You may be able to handle the Prozac since it only affects the serotonin, or something similar to it (a SSRI) if you have trouble with the SNRIs like Cymbalta, Savella or Effexor.

i want to start taking cymbalta for bipolar depression and chronic pain and wondered if anyone takes this, what the side effects are and how it helped with pain and depression. i take prozac and lortab and would like to get off the lortab and can't take prozac all the time because it makes me severely anxious if i'm not in a major depression. any advice or experience stories would be helpful.

Sister having horrible reactions during withdrawl from cymbalta and abilify. What can she do to help herself? She w as taken off both on Wednesday and put on prozac. Can she use tylenol for the headache? Someone told her it is not safe to do. Another person suggested melatonin. Is that safe? She is bi polar and has gained over 100 lbs on these meds over the last 6 years. This is ridiculous! Will she gain on prozac also? What is wrong with these psychiatrists, anyway?

I have to switch my meds. I have depression and fibromyalgia and am on Cymbalta, but it doesn't seem to be helping me.....my doctor suggested Prozac since it is known to help fatigue better than the other antidepressants (supposedly). Thank you.
