Prozac tremors

Common Questions and Answers about Prozac tremors

prozac

Hi, I have been taking Prozac for exactly 4 weeks for anxiety and some panic attacks and absolutely hate the side effects that this medicine brings me. I have never felt so tired in my life. I have been slowly tapering off this med by taking one 20mg capsule every 3 days. I still have the fatigue and have tremors and really bad insomnia. Will these side effects ever go away and if so how long will it take? Please reply.
I've known people on prozac, that quit cold turkey and had no withdrawal symtoms. I didn't have such luck with paxil, effexor. Does prozac not have the withdrawal symtoms, is it not as likely to cause these problems?
I just started taking 10mg a day of prozac due to anxiety and panicks attacks that i usually have at night ( 3 in the past 6 months), also im just an emotional roller coaster! The doctor didnt say anything about avoiding alcohol. I'm not an alcoholic but my girlfriends and I usually have 2-3 cocktails about 2-3 times a weeks. I was at a memorial day barbeque yesterday and had 3-4 drinks over an 8 hour period.
I wrote to you last week with my sexual problem with prozac. I ask you about wellbutrin. Well today I saw my Dr. and he gave me Wellbutrin 300 mg. a day and told me to start it tomorrow. I have been on prozac for 28 days. I am so scared of wellbutrin after reading the side effects people are having, tremors, headachs, dizzy, unable to think, and thinking bad thoughts. I have 3 kids and a job I am scared of what this drug may do to me.
Hi all just wished to find out from others past experience of the drug how long one should expect to experience withdrawal effects from prozac. Been off prozac myself for 2 1/2 weeks after changing to mirtazapine and now have buily up to an 45mg dose after 8 1/2 weeks but i'm experiencing a range of strange sensations over this whole period.
hi i have just come off citalopram to prozac the prozac is supposed to help the withdrawal from othe ssri's i had terrible withdrawal from citalopram, electric shock feelings in myhead, pins and needles ANGER all for about ten days then that subsided and the prozac started to kick in still getting a little angry, still depressed but im getting better each day. your doc should know this. its a well known fact they give people prozac to help come off other ssri's.
I found if I took a benzo such as Xanax as needed only with Prozac, it was great. Prozac alone does not cut it for anxiety. I hope you feel better.
I have essesential tremors and take medication (Propranolol SA -160mg) for them. I also take Clonazepam - 0.5mg for anxiety and Prozac - 20mg to help with my nervousness and anxiety. These medications do help, but I have noticed over the past year that my shaky head syndrome and my shaky legs while driving has gotten worse. It is getting to the point that I am barely able to drive, and I have noticed that my head is shaking more than it used to.
However it should be noted that many medications can interact with lithium by raising or lowering the blood level of lithium. When the blood level of lithium is higher the potential for hand tremors increases. You could discuss all this with your psychiatrist but it will take some time for the Ciraplex to be out of your system so it should take some time for any potential improvement to occur but keep your psychiatrist updated as to how things are going.
Im scheduled to see a nuerologist in a few weeks and don't know if I should stop the Prozac first and see if it is the cause of the tremor. Please advise. Thank you.
I started taking Prozac about a month and a half ago, 20 mg, the reason that I started taking it was more for anxiety than depression. All I wanted to do was sleep.
I am an 18 year old girl. I was on prozac for maybe a week, only 20 mgs but i was taking it every day and it was not prescribed to me, it was my moms old prescription so i guess that was a very stupid decision. I smoked a tiny bit of pot on it, literally one hit, and about an hr later I started having heart palps and tremors- major anxiety. It was soo bad i couldnt even breathe. I was sweating and shaking uncontrollably. Ever since that I have just not been quite right.
I have been on prozac (fluxetene) for 14 years now - I was severely depressed - and when I started taking it I was suicidal. After two weeks on Prozac my life changed dramatically - and I have been on it ever since with variations on the dozage - I now take 20 mg daily. (I did try to get off it once because everything in my life was great and felt there was no reason to be depressed - but after weaning myself off the depression came back with a vengence - so I went back on it).
have been reading a thread about prozac poopout. I took Prozac for 9 years STARTING AT 50, I am now 60. 18 months ago I started having weird things happening. Inner tremors, some lighheaded dizziness *not severe but unsettling, extreme feeling of being shaking cold *something a menopausal woman only dreams about* I am past that * anxiety, muscle weakness, fear,. It isn't panic disorder, I don't have the pounding heart, sweatinge etc. 90% of the time it occurs at night.
Dear Forum Doctor, I posted a few weeks earlier questioning my continuing use of Paxil CR. After much thought, my Doctor and I decided it was time for change. He started me on 10mg Prozac, I take this for anxiety/depression. My question is in regards to how I feel during the transition from one drug to another. I was told weaning was not necessary switching from Paxil to Prozac, just discontinue Paxil and take Prozac at the next dosage time. 1 week ago this is what I did.
I was on Prozac for 9 years 20 mg then 40mg over the past few years. It has worked miracles for my depression! NO MORE FUNKS! However the last 2 years I feel like maybe Im tolerant to it. I have mood swings but I am also perimenopausal. I was having some anxiety, especially flying. Sooooo I asked my doctor about increasing the Prozac dose. He said research has shown that no more significant effect was produced by increasing the dose. So I thought I was so clever in suggesting Paxil.
I've had anxiety for years, but lately I have noticed shakiness and tremor-like symptoms. I am worried because my mother has late stage chronic progressive MS. Sometimes I can hardly control my gait as I walk. My legs feel stiff and shaky. I've been on Prozac and Effexor for years due to severe depression as well. My husband thinks I'm crazy and I am afraid to tell him of these recent physical developements. Does anyone have a similar experience with the shaking?
to answer your question about prozacs addiction potential, there is'nt one. prozac, like all SSRI's are not physically addictive and withdraw usually does not occur as in the sense as it would for drugs like xanax, which are physically addictive. i have taken prozac for 6 years without incidence.

One of my symptoms is an intention tremor (usually mild).
can this tremor be caused by the Prozac, or is it more likely caused by the MS? I realize that tremor is one of the possible side effects of Prozac, but mine seems to also contain an element of incoordination (e.g., I knock things over, have problems with fine motor coordination, and my writing is slower and takes concentration). Also, my right hand (dominant) seems somewhat worse than my left, and both hands seem to be worsening very slowly.
I've been suffering from social anxeity for about 2 years, and my major SA symptom is head tremors(neck muscle spasm). The reason why I posted this on neurology forum is that no psychiatric medication* worked well for that symptom and, while I found a way to calm down myself in the public, my neck muscles are always extremely tense. Also, head tremors happen when I roll my eyes hard, which has nothing to do with social anxiety in my opinion.
I have neuropathy and fasculations(twitching) tremors and many other symptoms. At first they put me on prozac, there way of dismissing you. After 5 doctors they did a nerve conduction which was abnormal. I will be going to another neurologist in a month to hopefully find the cause. Sometimes not being believed is worse than being sick. I recommend talking to every doctor till you hear something that makes sense.
After a pacemaker surgery I started having terrible tremors face muscle twitching slurred speech weakness of legs and arms. the diagnosis has been mixed anxiety, stress. poast traumatic stress, bizzare. Paxil made it worse. Ativan made me relax but still had the tremors. Physical therapy and occupational helped to strngthen my muscle and increased my endurance a bit but I am still weak. Now I am on Prozac and Klonopin and still have these attacks.
My husband has been taking prozac for a few years and recently has been diagnosed with acid reflux. Can prozac cause acid reflux? I took prozac for many months with no problems but when I tried it at a later date it really bothered me-- So I am wondering if the prozac may be related.... Please let me know if you think there could be a connection.
I have been having trouble for the past year with violent hand tremors that can sometimes spread throughout my body, especially after any sort of exercise, severe headaches that are not treated by common analgesics, I have to take Profrin tablets and they rarely work, as well as extreme generalized fatigue that is not benefited by sleep and muscular weakness. These symptoms ebb and flow in a progressive matter.
I had rigidity in my left arm when I look back as well. I also have been on Prozac for about eight years and I am wondering if it could have caused these smptoms as I have been reading up on this. I have a mild tremor in my right hand and do have slow movemnts and rigidity. I an taking Stalevo 100 mg 4 times daily. . I recently was weaned from the prozac as it was not helping the depressioin. I was married to a physican who passes away three years ago/ he He thought I had a mini stroke.
i had read this was a possible side effect, but also read that it was a common side effect but then a serious side effect!??? it was very scary! throughout the day the tremor lessened, but the morning was horrible! i called my doctor and made him aware of the tremor, and he told me to reduce my dose to 25mg last night, which i did. i felt fine until 10pm rolled around, and then 2am, and then before i knew it, it was 6:30am! i couldn't get to sleep for the life of me.

This past six weeks I have noticed that I have developed hand tremors. I have been through an extremely stressful period since summer, but those situations have calmed down now, and my tremors have come on since the stress eased off. I am reasonably healthy and cannot see a reason for this to start happening. Is it possible that the stress and anxiety that I have been through could have manifested itself in my hands (and what feels like my arms)and make them shake?
