Prozac tremors

Common Questions and Answers about Prozac tremors

prozac

Hi, I have been taking Prozac for exactly 4 weeks for anxiety and some panic attacks and absolutely hate the side effects that this medicine brings me. I have never felt so tired in my life. I have been slowly tapering off this med by taking one 20mg capsule every 3 days. I still have the fatigue and have tremors and really bad insomnia. Will these side effects ever go away and if so how long will it take? Please reply.
Hi all just wished to find out from others past experience of the drug how long one should expect to experience withdrawal effects from prozac. Been off prozac myself for 2 1/2 weeks after changing to mirtazapine and now have buily up to an 45mg dose after 8 1/2 weeks but i'm experiencing a range of strange sensations over this whole period.
I have essesential tremors and take medication (Propranolol SA -160mg) for them. I also take Clonazepam - 0.5mg for anxiety and Prozac - 20mg to help with my nervousness and anxiety. These medications do help, but I have noticed over the past year that my shaky head syndrome and my shaky legs while driving has gotten worse. It is getting to the point that I am barely able to drive, and I have noticed that my head is shaking more than it used to.
However it should be noted that many medications can interact with lithium by raising or lowering the blood level of lithium. When the blood level of lithium is higher the potential for hand tremors increases. You could discuss all this with your psychiatrist but it will take some time for the Ciraplex to be out of your system so it should take some time for any potential improvement to occur but keep your psychiatrist updated as to how things are going.
In about 3-12% of studies about Prozac, there were reported tremors as adverse reaction, depending a little bit on cause of Rx. On the other hand, 1-5% of persons included in that study who took placebos reported exactly the same. It could be other reasons too. I was ready to blame trembling on the use of citalopram, but when I cut down on coffee, I learned something else... Someone else than me might have a better answer?
I wrote to you last week with my sexual problem with prozac. I ask you about wellbutrin. Well today I saw my Dr. and he gave me Wellbutrin 300 mg. a day and told me to start it tomorrow. I have been on prozac for 28 days. I am so scared of wellbutrin after reading the side effects people are having, tremors, headachs, dizzy, unable to think, and thinking bad thoughts. I have 3 kids and a job I am scared of what this drug may do to me.
I have been on prozac (fluxetene) for 14 years now - I was severely depressed - and when I started taking it I was suicidal. After two weeks on Prozac my life changed dramatically - and I have been on it ever since with variations on the dozage - I now take 20 mg daily. (I did try to get off it once because everything in my life was great and felt there was no reason to be depressed - but after weaning myself off the depression came back with a vengence - so I went back on it).
I am an 18 year old girl. I was on prozac for maybe a week, only 20 mgs but i was taking it every day and it was not prescribed to me, it was my moms old prescription so i guess that was a very stupid decision. I smoked a tiny bit of pot on it, literally one hit, and about an hr later I started having heart palps and tremors- major anxiety. It was soo bad i couldnt even breathe. I was sweating and shaking uncontrollably. Ever since that I have just not been quite right.
have been reading a thread about prozac poopout. I took Prozac for 9 years STARTING AT 50, I am now 60. 18 months ago I started having weird things happening. Inner tremors, some lighheaded dizziness *not severe but unsettling, extreme feeling of being shaking cold *something a menopausal woman only dreams about* I am past that * anxiety, muscle weakness, fear,. It isn't panic disorder, I don't have the pounding heart, sweatinge etc. 90% of the time it occurs at night.
00 am with tremors/fear. I was wondering if adding Prozac while decressing the Paxil would make if easier? I ask my Dr. and he doesn't have a clue. Anyone's advice would be great.
I found if I took a benzo such as Xanax as needed only with Prozac, it was great. Prozac alone does not cut it for anxiety. I hope you feel better.
I have the same myoclonus every now and then, although now I have tremors. My hand has a terrible pulse, and it's best seen when I try to do some strength, no matter what part of my body I'm using. And lately I've been having foot cramps, also every now and then (I have to walk like a mile to the school and back, now). Should I worry, and ask for a second opinion from another neurologist? Or are these things just effects of the nervs and the Clomipramine?
After a pacemaker surgery I started having terrible tremors face muscle twitching slurred speech weakness of legs and arms. the diagnosis has been mixed anxiety, stress. poast traumatic stress, bizzare. Paxil made it worse. Ativan made me relax but still had the tremors. Physical therapy and occupational helped to strngthen my muscle and increased my endurance a bit but I am still weak. Now I am on Prozac and Klonopin and still have these attacks.
I started taking Prozac about a month and a half ago, 20 mg, the reason that I started taking it was more for anxiety than depression. All I wanted to do was sleep.
I was on Prozac for 9 years 20 mg then 40mg over the past few years. It has worked miracles for my depression! NO MORE FUNKS! However the last 2 years I feel like maybe Im tolerant to it. I have mood swings but I am also perimenopausal. I was having some anxiety, especially flying. Sooooo I asked my doctor about increasing the Prozac dose. He said research has shown that no more significant effect was produced by increasing the dose. So I thought I was so clever in suggesting Paxil.
I have been having trouble for the past year with violent hand tremors that can sometimes spread throughout my body, especially after any sort of exercise, severe headaches that are not treated by common analgesics, I have to take Profrin tablets and they rarely work, as well as extreme generalized fatigue that is not benefited by sleep and muscular weakness. These symptoms ebb and flow in a progressive matter.
This past six weeks I have noticed that I have developed hand tremors. I have been through an extremely stressful period since summer, but those situations have calmed down now, and my tremors have come on since the stress eased off. I am reasonably healthy and cannot see a reason for this to start happening. Is it possible that the stress and anxiety that I have been through could have manifested itself in my hands (and what feels like my arms)and make them shake?
I got off Prozac because it started causing me to stutter, have tremors, have high blood pressure and lose my memory. Since tapering off and coming off it completely these side effects have all diminished except some minor loss of memory at times. I found out there is a new long term study out on Prozac and it is linked to causing Parkinsons symptoms.

I also would like to add that I have tried a number of medications with no relief including Valium, Mcklezine, Diamox, Atenolol (caused my blood pressure to drop way too low), Prozac, Zoloft (I only used both of these for a short amount of time b/c Zoloft caused me to keep throwing up and Prozac just done nothing.
The psychiatrist stated to me he will never increase the dosage, but I think he mentioned nothing about not being able to prescribe long term...... I was on prozac or many years but prozac doesn't help..... And its very expensive compared to Klonopin which is very very cheap and good.... I would like to stay on Klonopin for good.... SSRIs are very expensive and I can't afford them.....

Patients should be advised to contact their physician if they experience symptoms of hydantoin toxicity such as nausea, vomiting, tremors, ataxia, lethargy, slurred speech, visual disturbances, or changes in mental status. The potential for diminished or inadequate benzodiazepine effects should be considered during concomitant use with phenytoin.
