prozac

219241 tn?1413537765 I have just started Fluoxetine a few days ago, which I have already had some nightmares and loss of appetite from. I know they say it takes at least two weeks to kick in but I was taking St John's wort prior to this (my doc knew of this) My serotonin levels were extremely low. I was weepy but not depressed, well, maybe a bit around period time! Anyways, I have since found out the generic is Fluoxetine but the trade name is Prozac.
1807991 tn?1438779770 I also had diarrhea and general malaise, but the nightmares were really the horrendous part. To taper off the Prozac my doctor had me empty the contents of the capsule into a cup of orange juice, then drink half the cup per day (refrigerating the other half). She had me do that for one week, then halve it again for another week, and after two weeks I was able to quit it entirely.
Avatar m tn I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-... Th side effects persist even after a month on the different pill forms too.. Any options left? Or must I suck it up and take a pill that makes me sick or discontinue usage...
Avatar n tn t want to go anywhere, do anything, talk to anyone (including my husband and step kids). And the nightmares. Oh my god the nightmares. They are so bad that I am terrified to go to sleep, but I am tired all the time. When I do sleep, its horrible and filled with bad dreams, so I'm not getting rested anymore. I am afraid I am going to get physically violent sometime, that's how I'm feeling. Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar f tn I'm on Prozac for almost 2 1/2 weeks now and have been taking lorazepam for a week. My thoughts are still bad. What's worse is that I am having nightmares for the past couple of days. I'm waiting for a change. I want my life back and this feels like torture. Today was such a bad day that my brain feels like it's going to explode from the pain.
Avatar n tn MY SON HAS TAKEN PROZAC ALMOST A YEAR, HE HAS NOW STARTED HAVING INSOMNIA HAS HAD SEVERAL BOUTS CRYING OR FEELING VERY SAD. IS THIS NORMAL SIDE EFFECTS OR IS IT TIME TO SWITCH TO SOMETHING ELSE?
Avatar f tn Doc prescribed Aropax CR 25 (paxil) he said there was no need to wean off the cilift - weight steadily increased - Doc said impossible!!!?? I asked to change to Prozac (Nuzak - south africa) Again he said I could go straight from the one to the other! Been on Nuzak for about 10 days and not feeling nice. Very emotional - dizzy - nightmares and un-necessary anger. My question - do I stick it out on the Nuzak (for the weight issues) or go back to Paxil or in fact back to Cilift?
1352638 tn?1277025232 I also doubt that the Prozac is responsible for your panic attack, at least not directly. While some people have adverse reactions and many have at least some symptoms, I doubt that you would have a panic attack because of one 20mg dose. I've been on Celexa before, with Ativan, and it didn't help enough with the anxiety. The Ativan was just a bandaid and the Celexa wasn't doing its job, so they switched me to Prozac.

Avatar f tn The depression is because i am friendly and outgoing but can not break out of this. I now take prozac after years of taking other meds. I love prozac because it is what works for me. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I am tapering off of 80 mgs of Prozac. I have been on iProzac for 3 months. While taking it I had diarreha but thought it would, eventually go,away.,well, it didn't,so,I am,getting off of it. My question is, now I am down to 20 mgs. And according to my doctor, I will go down to 10 mgs in two days. And stay on 10"for a week and then stop completely. How long should,I expect this terrible diarreha,to last? I mean it is bad!
Avatar f tn I was on Zoloft for depression for about 6 months after trying Prozac, Effexor, and a bunch of different combinations of sedatives, sleep aids, and antipsychotics. I was up to 300 mg, but the side effects, including horrible headaches, insomnia, nightmares, GI upset, and emotional numbness, never went away. I started to taper down with my psychopharmacologist's help. I tapered down to 50 mg, but my psychopharmacologist didn't want me to completely go off of it.

Avatar m tn I take 150mg of Efexor XL and have numerous vivid dreams but thankfully no nightmares, is this normal.
Avatar f tn My son in law returned from Iraq (Air Force) and has been diagnosed with PTSD. He is very intelligent and was treated for ADHD as a child. Since coming back to his wife and children he exhibits signs of depression, anxiety, agoraphobia and, recently, spasms on one side of his body. As far as I know he didn't sustain a head injury, though, he was close to several IED explosions. The AF MD has him on Prozac which I think is the wrong drug.
Avatar f tn Insomnia and horrible, jump out of my dream, nightmares. The feeling as if my legs are not my own, almost numb and thick, being manipulated by another, stepping higher than really necessary. Really, I feel like I am marching slowly rather than walking, almost as if I need to step over something ( I look stupid, I am sure). I also constantly shake, not only my hands, arms, and legs but my core. I hope I can stop for good this time, attempt number 4.
601528 tn?1224081498 I am on prozac and have been for about 6 months....This last week I have been very manic with ALOT of paranoia and anger. Could this be the prozac or would it have happened by now?
Avatar f tn so one day i just switched to prozac and instead of effexor i took 5 mg (half a pill) of generic prozac. took prozac 5 mg for 3 days and then stopped all meds. i got withdrawal symptoms but atleast 80% less severe. i have slight nausea for the last 10 days, occasional brain zaps which were more the first few days now down to once or twice a day, worst of all i got insomnia. for the first time in my life, i can't sleep more than 4 or 5 hrs every night.
Avatar f tn I've had a variety of symptoms for 6-8 years. Specialists believed it was "something autoimmune" but had no definite diagnosis. This year old symptoms are worse with new symptoms. I have memory & word-finding problems, falling frequently, heat intolerance, sleeplessness, nightmares with only occasional flashes of memory about them, & constipation with some diarrhea.
2185074 tn?1340264732 I am so depressed. I just got back from Afghanistan and my wife moved out right a way. I don't understand. I came home and she said that she couldn't handle my depression along with my PTSD. I only been home for a month. I feel as if I am losing everything. I am not violent with my wife. She is afraid of what she has heard about some of the guys that I deployed with. I am on so much medication. I take Lithium 100mg 3x's a day, Prozac, Xanax 1mg PRN. Up to 4x a day.
Avatar f tn I have to put my dog down in 3 days and I am totally freaking out about it. I usually don't have anxiety problems and I am on Prozac 20mg/day. Since the news a week and a half ago that I would have to put my dog down I haven't been able to sleep, I've been having horrible nightmares when I do sleep. I feel like the world is falling down around me and I am losing control. I called my doctor today and he recc. Ativan 0.5mg 1-2 tablets every 6 hours as needed.

Avatar n tn I am a 39 year old female and have been taking a very low dose (8-10 mg/day) of Prozac for 3 years. I am not able to take more than this as it causes me to feel jittery. I have little to no libido. My doctor has me switched over to Wellbutrin due to the low libido side effects. I am on my second week of a very low dose of Wellbutrin (35 mg am, 17 mg afternoon). I have noticed that for several hours after I take it, my lips and face tingle as if they are slightly numb.
1711722 tn?1356487554 Hi Bee, I can't point you to any studies on how AD's affect the liver, but I can share my personal experience. I've had severe depression problems for more than 15 years, but it is extremely well controlled by AD's. I tried many kinds early on, and found a lot of them did increase fatigue. The ones I've tried that do NOT increase fatigue for me include Prozac, Cymbalta, and Zoloft.
Avatar n tn Sometimes at the very end of the taper some will use Prozac to ease the transition because Prozac stays in the body much longer than other ssris and is therefore thought to be easier to discontinue than the others, but it's only at the very end of the taper.
Avatar f tn My physician their life been saying for several years put me on a 60 milligram dose of Prozac day. Recently in the last few months I have started experiencing severe anxiety and panic attacks. I've gotten to where I cry at the drop of a hat I have bad nightmares and my brain just does not stop. I know that I am grieving over my son. But I also feel like I'm losing control of myself. A friend of mine gave me a couple of one milligram xanax recently.
