Prozac nausea

Common Questions and Answers about Prozac nausea

prozac

Avatar f tn My guess is that this is the Effexor withdrawal, not the Prozac, as the Prozac will take about 4-6 weeks usually to start working. I also don't think it will help much with the Effexor withdrawal, as it's in a different class of drugs, no two drugs work the same or target the same neurotransmitter receptors, and you might get new side effects while getting used to the Prozac.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am taking 60mg Prozac in the morning (past 4 weeks) and then 100mg Lithium (down from 200) with .5mg Clonazepam at bedtime for depression. Since upping the prozac from the original 20 I find that i feel quite nausious in the mornings often with the need to pass loose motions 3 or 4 times. It does fade a bit during the day but I'm not sure what may be causing this. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn This is my 12th day on Prozac and my anxiety is at an all time low. The first few days on Prozac I started to feel better (could have been placebo effect.). Now for the past week its starting to make me depressed because I feel like this is never going to get better. The Prozac seems to be making it worse. I have no appetite whatsoever, dry mouth and slight nausea.
Avatar f tn My doctor started me on 1 pill a day 20mg of Prozac. He said after a week take 2 a day. But the nausea in the morning was so bad. Granted it had only been 2 almost 3 weeks since I started those. I told my doctor and he switched me to 5mg of lexapro. I wanna know if that nausea goes away after I get used to Prozac I’m just not sure what to do. Other than the nausea I was feeling good. I want to know if anyone has had the same issue.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I was wanting to get some input from some people who have tried prozac. Have you tried it, if so what was your experience with it, benefits, side effects, etc?
Avatar f tn I never had anxiety till I started taking Prozac, Im taking Prozac for severe depression but ever since being on it anxiety has been my major problem, I can't go a day without a panic attack or feeling sick due to anxiety, I'm throwing up from anxiety at least once a week and I'm constantly trembling and shaking and having paranoid thoughts. Prozac destroyed more than it fixed for me.
Avatar n tn My son wanted to get off antidepressants so the doctor suggested he go on prozac to counteract the wd from effexor.....(75mg) prozacs half life is 5 weeks , while effexors is less than 24 hours...so it's really hard to go off it especially if you have been on it for a while...even if they lower the dose to wean you it's pretty bad....withdrawal is awful. He's never been on Lexapro so I can't tell you if that will do the same thing...ease the withdrawal.
Avatar f tn I was having really bad menopause symptoms, anxiety, nausea, loss of appetite and insomnia. So the doc put me on 10 mg prozac about 16 days ago... And then ambien for sleep. He told me the start up of prozac does this..gets worse before better. Then regarding the norco...I realized I was taking it on an empty stomach at night... Which can make you nauseating. So I decided I want off of it...I am tapering the doc though that would be a good idea. Anyway... I'm really sick...
Avatar n tn I am experiencing low blood sugar problems with Prozac withdrawal. Has anyone experienced low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) with Prozac withdrawal? If so did it eventually go away and how did you handle it?
Avatar f tn Were you tapered off Paxil, or abruptly switched to Prozac? What you were suffering is probably Paxil withdrawal, not "allergy" to Prozac. Prozac actually gets in your system much more slowly than Paxil, and leaves your system much more slowly. Paxil is one of the most difficult meds to quit. What you're getting is bad info from everyone. For one thing, Prozac is just as likely to cause suicidal thinking as Paxil -- all antidepressants can do this.
Avatar f tn I was put on Prozac 40 mg 3 months ago, This was after 12 years of Effexor. I have been nauseated and feel as though I have all the symptoms of severe depression. No motivation, sleeping 16-18 hours etc. This was a new Doctor for me. Family practice. I also quit smoking and was on Chantix at the same time. I thought the terrible side effects were Chantix. But I still am in trouble after stopping Chantix 7 weeks ago.
Avatar m tn I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-... Th side effects persist even after a month on the different pill forms too.. Any options left? Or must I suck it up and take a pill that makes me sick or discontinue usage...
Avatar f tn It seems weird but if I can start doing something that engages my mind and body the nausea will go away. I believe the nausea is brought on by anxiety which I don't seem to be able to control. It was getting to the point that I was getting very emotional about everything and after seeing the doctor I was prescribed 20 mg or Prozac to take every morning. That was 4 days ago but I am still getting nausea, just not as much I think and I'm hopeful it will go away completely.
Avatar n tn I've started taking 10mg of Prozac for almost a month now for anxiety and I've been getting a few different effects going on. I've been getting pressure headaches in the back of my head, sometimes I feel light-headed. I'm tending to space out a bit more than usual and getting drowzy (They said that would most likely happen, so I should take my meds at night). And the past few nights when I've woken up, my hands have fallen asleep.
Avatar n tn I have been on 20 mg paxil for panic attacks for 7 years, I've tried to wean from paxil(felt like had no energy on paxil) many times, unsuccessfully. I've recently switched to 20 mg prozac, without a taper. After about 5 weeks, I started to feel lousey-nausea, diarrhea, no appetite, depressed. Still feeling lousey. Would it likely be better to increase prozac, or switch back to paxil. If switching back to paxil, what are the best ways to do this.
Avatar n tn Hello. I just started Prozac last week, 20 mg. once a day and today will be the 7th day I've been on it. I have actually felt worse since starting it. I have been taking 3-4 xanax a day on top of the prozac, where I was only taking 1-2 a day. I had to get up and leave a meeting today at school in front of the staff because I was having a full blown panic attack! I also have not been wanting to eat and have felt naseous in general! Is this normal?
Avatar f tn Hi, ever since I was in elementary school I've had an out of whack stomach. I missed a lot of school because of it growing up. I'm 25 years old & from a young age I've gone through every test at least once (some twice) into finding out why my stomach is causing me so much trouble. I've had 2 endoscopys done, a colonoscopy and numerous blood tests and other scans that I can't keep count of. I've been on anti depressant since I was in high school.
Avatar f tn I have been taking prozac and wellbutrin. Some Drs. say its ok and some dont. I have been going on my second week with no wellbutrin and am staying nausea all the time. I felt like the Wellbutrin was causing me to gain weight.
Avatar f tn I started prozac 19 days ago for menopause symptoms...which were anxiety, nausea, loss of appetite , insomnia. The doctor put me on 10mg of prozac and 5 mg ambien for sleep. I have gotten worse instead of better...I do sleep now...so that's a plus. I was told you do get worse before you get better... But this is horrible!!! I just need support from someone who's been there... I'm really struggling!
1659011 tn?1307486147 Just about 2 or 3 weeks ago my doctor finally put me on Prozac. My mom has been taking Prozac since she was my age and she said it was a miracle for her so i am now on it hoping for the same results, Now i know pills are never the answer but i am in therapy, i have a psychiatrist , been in hospitals and i have tried over 6 different depression / anxiety medications.
974371 tn?1424653129 I took the first one last night and have been horribly sick all day. Not sure if it is my regular problems that ate worse ( stomach ache, nausea, bloating) or the med. Anyone?
2080404 tn?1643113754 Hi there. Is this better? Prozac does give some gi side effects. When my son started this, he had nausea and it lasted for about a week and a half and then began getting better. He chewed ginger gum, ate tums and peptobismal chews. They seemed to help him. Was trazadone new as well? I will say that unless something is really awful, giving a full trial is best in my opinion. My son actually needed the full dose of prozac of 80 mg, so prepare that they may tweak your dosage as well.
Avatar f tn I experiended severe nausea and no appetite. 6 weeks later, I still have nausea from the Fluoxetine. Panic attacks are a little better but I am beginning to think I should have stayed on Zoloft because I can't recall feeling this bad. I am now seeing a psychiatrist and they have taken me down to 30 mg. of Fluoxetine in hopes of helping my nausea. They feel the Fluoxetine 40 may have been too much. This is now my 6th week and feeling frustrated.
1295419 tn?1276822872 I recently switched from Paxil to Prozac. For the last few days I have been very queasy. Not really sick to my stomach but having to hold myself back from throwing up when I smell different things or see things that would normally not bother me. For instance, this morning I could not clean my hand vac out because it had been used to suck up some peas that my son threw on the floor ( he's 1). This has happened several times. Could this be a side effect from the Prozac?
