Avatar n tn I would encourage both of you to talk with his endocrinologist about looking into possible changes that can bring his a1c levels well down below 7. That truly is his best protection not only against kidney disease, but against other complications. If sugar levels are maintained at near normal levels, damage cannot happen.
Avatar f tn I have a 14 year old cocker spaniel who was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. She originally got sick a few weeks ago with pacreatitis, and when she recovered her lab work showed the kidney problems. We have been giving her fluids every other night as well as the epakitin powder with her food. Her blood report was better this last time. However she seems pretty good, has a good appetite ect and I'm wondering if there is anything else that could be causing this disease?

Avatar f tn Hi there, about a month and a half ago I started feeling like something was always under both my ribs and it has been persistently like this and it's really uncomfortable, I'm also always itchy at night and have been feeling really dizzy and lightheaded constantly. I've went to my doctors and they took my bloods and all that came up was that my potassium levels were slightly high.

Long-term feeding of an all-dry-food diet is also suspected as a factor in Chronic Renal Failure. Cats' kidneys are highly efficient and adapted to life in the desert, where they would get most or all of their water from eating their prey.

Avatar n tn I looked up on google and found that there is Serotonin in the gut, too. Maybe they should do a study on Prozac and Graves Disease. My anxiety is way down. It may not be perfect, but relying more on my symptoms has saved me lots money on lab tests and doctor visits since I'm not insured. Since I quit taking synthroid and toprol, sexual symptoms have improved. Prozac can be rough on that but I think my body is getting used to it. Knock on wood, I hope I don't go hypo too soon.

1300964 tn?1283403463 Extreme fatigue could be due to anemia, diabetes, hypothyroidism, or due to kidney or liver problems. However since you had blood tests all these would have been ruled out. Hence the other possibilities are sleep disorders and inadequate sleep. You may appear to sleep the customary 7-8 hours and yet not get the required amount of sleep in the right pattern. Hence it is important to get sleep studies done. The other possibility is low Vit B12, low iron, low calcium, sodium and potassium.
