Prozac jittery

Common Questions and Answers about Prozac jittery

prozac

I am on prozac as of last Wednesday. I feel the same if not worse than I did a week ago. Could my medication be the cause or is it too soon for it to be working properly? I have hypothyroid, could have that something to do with it?
I tried St John Wort and I felt better (I also saw my doctor for cholesterol and EKG for my chest and stomach pain at the same time as starting the medicine, all came back great). After a few weeks it came back so I got on Prozac (day 8) and wow, so far so bad. After reading a lot of forums, I am finding that the increased anxiety, terrible headaches, loss of appetite and the wired, jittery, trembling is normal for a few weeks until it gets into your system. I will stick it out.
Just I'm thinking maybe I can get along fine without it.... and also, is it possible for the medicine itself to make you feel all jittery? or is that just anxiety? Cuz I usually feel best when I wake up in the morning before I've taken that pill, and by the end of the day I feel all jittery. So could it have anything to do with the medicine? or is it just that sleeping all night has calmed me down?
I have been taking prozac for a little over a week. This is the second time, but the first time I was switched from one to prozac so I didn't get off track, but I quit cold-turkey a year ago and now I am starting back up. Especially in the mornings I wake up with a pounding heart which persists all day. I know I am having constant anxiety, but since I uped the dose three days ago to 20MG I've been feeling very jittery, like I am about to jump outta my skin!
I am on my 3rd week of Prozac but Generic (fluoxetine) 20 mg. I am also having jittery feelings and worse in the mornings I have taken Xanax a couple of times to help sleep. Has anyone been on it longer than 3 weeks and will the jitters go away. I was on Paxil it was awesome after the first 4 weeks but had to go off it because of weight gain from it.
I started on Prozac about 5 days ago and last night I started feeling pretty bad-I felt jittery and super anxious, nausea and just over all...scared. I'm a hypochondriac and I've been suffering from anxiety (now depression) for a couple of months and I switched to Prozac because several women in my family have taken it with great results. After reading your symptoms, I feel much more at ease that this will pass. I too am taking only 10 mg, but I figure it's probably just starting to kick in.
I am almost 20 weeks and my dr (psychologist) feels I should go back to taking 20 mg of Prozac (I stopped taking it as soon as I found out I was pg). I am not doing very well without it. However, I know there still is a divided opinion among professionals about taking SSRIs during pregnancy. I also know a fairly recent study showed an increased risk in breathing problems after birth in women who took SSRIs in the 3rd trimester.
I couldn't sleep and I always felt extremely jittery and nauseous. After switching to Prozac those symptoms went away for the most part, and I'm feeling much better now. It usually takes about a month to 6 weeks before you really start feeling the benefits of antidepressants, but if you're experiencing side effects or are feeling worse then you were before taking Prozac I would definitely talk to your doctor and see if another med might suit you better. Good luck!
Hi, I was on Prozac 20 years ago for a period of a year for post-natal anxiety disorder....it worked well for me then. I am now 45 years old & on blood pressure meds...I've had a very traumatic few years which resulted in post traumatic stress, panic attacks & claustraphobia. I bacame obsessed that this stress would all make my bp go up again.
I cant take any of these meds. I am so screwed. Each one makes me jittery, angry, can't focus or concentrate and they make me sweat like no tomorrow. Anyone else have bad reactions like this?
Been on 10 mg prozac for 2 weeks, started 20 mg yesterday and took same dosage today and both days have been horrible. Really extreme side effects. More agitation, anxiety, panics, bad thoughts etc. I dont want to take it anymore or at least the 20 mg. What should i do?
So she has decided to switch me to 20mg continual release form of Prozac a day instead. I asked her when she proscribed this should I switch straight across or taper the Effexor off. She said the switch straight across, that I would be fine. Well I have to say this is day two and I am sick to my stomach, jittery, and my emotions are all over the board. I'm starting to wonder if should of tapered the Effexor off. If anyone can give me some insight in to this I would be very grateful.
You may not need anything but the Wellbutrin to be honest with you. I have OCD which leads to anxiety and then to depression. I was on Prozac many years ago and I tried those other drugs over the past year when it reared its ugly head again but I choose Wellbutrin. I was initially on 150 XL like you but I needed a boost when my OCD kicked into overdrive so I went to 300 XL. It did make me more jittery at first but after about 4-6 weeks, it went away and I feel GREAT!
I am a 30 y/o Male and have been taking Prozac for exactly 9 days and it is making me way worse then I was. I am now having emotional breakdowns where it feels as if the whole world is crashing down on me. I have been unable to eat now for 4 days and do not feel hungry. Has anyone else had problems like this? Please help.
I think I am ready to try medication for my anxiety for the first time in my life. Right now I have two choices...Celexa or Prozac. My doctor prescribed Celexa, but gave me the choice of which SSRI I would like to try (since they are all similar). I am wondering if Prozac would be a better choice for me though, because my 16 yr old. cousin (daughter of my mother's identical twin sis) suffers from anxiety that mirrors my symptoms EXACTLY.
I spoke with my pschy this week and he has given a weaning program that includes Prozac. Week 1 Paxil 20mg + Prozac 10mg Week 2 Paxil 15mg + Prozac 20mg Week 3 Paxil 10mg + Prozac 20mg Week 4 Paxil 5mg + Prozac 20mg Week 5 Stop Paxil stay on 20mg Prozac I am so worried about this, probably because I already feel bad. Has anyone ever done this type of withdrawl program before? On top of that I take Xanax .
My hope is that once my body adjusts to the Prozac ,I'll get off of the Remeron(generic) I do remember the first time I was on Prozac that it made me very jittery, especially in the morning for about a month. I believe that's why my doctor has kept me on the Remeron..."to bridge the gap between the two meds" as she put it.
My doc wanted to switch me to Prozac. I was told I wouldn't be as tired on Prozac and that it might help me better with anxiety. I chose against it. I asked for Paxil. I have read that Paxil is good for anxiety. My doc was willing to let me try Paxil so I left with a script for Paxil. I wonder if I should've tried the Prozac. I had a doc tell me once that Paxil causes significant weight gain. Should I have tried Prozac?
I have good days on prozac but more off and down days. would you think it was time for a dose or med change at this point now that iv been on it for just over 5 weeks.
Hi I have been on effexor and felt my heart racing and always jittery. I felt very hyper and had to take 2mg benzos to keep me from getting overly anxious. I have been given a choice to try paxil or prozac. My main goal is to be calm again and not have this inner fear and stop being so sensitive. It is essentially a combination of GAD, social anxiety, depression that is deep routed. Any insight would really help me. Thanks!
Normally I've been told the Cymbalta gives other people 'more' energy. Am I going off the Prozac too soon and suffering withdrawals from the Prozac. My doc is out of town til next Monday. His fill in doc told me just to double the Cymbalta. Any experience or advice? I am 55 years age. Thanks much.
I do have one concern, Zoloft is supposedly better for anxiety than Prozac, and I have even heard that Prozac can make anxiety worse. I am confused and dont want to become addicted to having to have a sleep aid, but I start back at my evil (did not used to feel that way) corporation this Monday. I just want to sleep and not stink and not yell at my wife and be sooo agitiated, is that so wrong? I would appreciaite any feedback from the community. This forum has been a life saver for me.
I was on Prozac for only 8 day but on the 8th day I experienced most ALL the bad side effects listed! Anxiety, nervousness, chills, cool pale skin, dry mouth, confusion, tiredness, weakness, trembling & shaking, restlessness, drowsiness, loss of appetite, burning in my chest, I thought I was going CRAZY! It was a nightmare! The next day I decided NOT to take it. I was a little shakey in the morning but the rest of the day I felt fine.
I have been prescribed both Lexapro & Prozac, the pharmacist says it 'should be' alright to combine them but I'd like more info. When I take them alone they both seem to make me jittery and sort of confused which wears off, but I don't really feel "relaxed" or more cofident. When will I see some positive results from taking them and is it recommended to take them together?
Does anyone know how long it takes for prozac to get out of your system, I was only on it for 2 weeks but had very bad side effects from it? My last does was Wed morning and now starting Zoloft. Still feeling very very anxious!! Any comments would help!!
I was just recently prescribed topamax in addition to my small dose 20mg of Prozac daily for OCD/anxiety. I have always been indecisive when it comes to big decisions and this has alsways casued me much anxiety. I told my doctor that prozac just did not seem to be doing anything for me and that a higher dose seemed to make me more anxious or more jittery, he than prescribed topamax. Do you agree with his assessment?
let me know I should not be wiening Celexa and take prozac while wiening. I am now just on Prozac and Buspar. Feeling ok. Just tired and jittery at times. I can't wait until this Prozac kicks in.
I have tried every natural herb/therapy known to man..I finally agreed to go on prozac. Well, I have a very strong sensitivity to meds (all meds), so they started me on a very, v ery low dose..I am taking liquid prozac, .5 ml which is only 2mg and it is day 4 and I am going crazy..I am so jittery, feel like vomiting, going to pass out and it all day long. I have a few ativan here and took one and that did help...Anyone else, suffer like this and anyone else try prozac and how did you do..
Just started prozac and ativan. Does the symptoms get worse before getting better. Only started 2 days ago.
Insomnia, stiff kneck, itchy eyes, numb noodle, agitation I could go on. I had only been on 1 other med, Prozac and for some reason changed. I had only taken Prozac for about 3 or 4 months and it worked GREAT. I had some trauma in my life, went into a 3 week panic attack and stopped the Prozac for some reason. I was ALWAYS told by Dr's that if an SSRI is right for you, you will feel NOTHING in the first few weeks, then gradually feel better.
