Avatar f tn I have had excessive head sweating for the past 2 years,i am post menopause and very active.I do not feel comfortble enough anymore to enjoy life no one wants to hug a sweathog!!I take zoloft for panic attacks and vasotech 5mg daily for bp which has never been over 140/80 but Dr. said it was time to watch it.I may be 15lbs overweight but i could sweat that off tonight. I was a chronic prescribed diet pill user[tenuate] but stopped three years ago with no problem.
Avatar n tn I am 50 years old and they are saying it could also be some menopause. My doctor is going to test me for sleep apnea but has not done that yet. Would that cause problems during the day?
Avatar f tn I started prozac 19 days ago for menopause symptoms...which were anxiety, nausea, loss of appetite , insomnia. The doctor put me on 10mg of prozac and 5 mg ambien for sleep. I have gotten worse instead of better...I do sleep now...so that's a plus. I was told you do get worse before you get better... But this is horrible!!! I just need support from someone who's been there... I'm really struggling!
Avatar f tn So the doc put me on 10 mg prozac about 16 days ago... And then ambien for sleep. He told me the start up of prozac does this..gets worse before better. Then regarding the norco...I realized I was taking it on an empty stomach at night... Which can make you nauseating. So I decided I want off of it...I am tapering the doc though that would be a good idea. Anyway... I'm really sick...can't function. Lots going on! I need encouragement!
Avatar f tn Have overall good health but at time of Menopause was diagnosed with masked depression.Put on Prozac and it is really helpful.Have tried to wean off Med. but unsuccessfully so continue to take 20mgs Prozac daily I sometimes suffer panic and feelings of Anxiety which I try to manage myself but Psychiatrist gave me Anti-Anxiety Med to use on 'as needed' basis.Am very conscious of using only when completely overwhelmed and have never abused or upped the dosage What is behind such anxiety?
Avatar f tn If they did, that would explain the delay of any menopausal symptoms, but 46 is a tad early for full blown menopause, not unheard of, but most women are still in the perimenopause stage at 46. Deciding whether or not to go on HRT is a very difficult and personal decision and one that needs to be made with the help of your OB/GYN and a great deal of research on your part.
Avatar f tn Hello. So I've been testing for cyclical cushings for a while and Dr says its not likely. Instead he wants me to start taking estrogen cream and progesterone cream because of borderline low estrogen and my menopausal symptoms of hot flashes, irritability, insomnia, fluctuating periods. He says I'm not in menopause but that its prob a pituitary issue.
746058 tn?1248344665 Hi, My name is Lois (Groggyfroggy) I'm new here. My OBGYN also put me on Effexor for hot flashes and night sweats because I wasn't a candidate for hormone therapy and I'm going thru' menopause. I happen to have POTS, but wasn't put on the medication for the POTS. I became very sick after that with nausea, shakiness, and a most terrible moodiness. I had to be taken off the medication and it took quite a while to get out of my system.
Avatar f tn What is FT3 and FT4, I don't remember having that checked? I never had my antibodies checked either. My vitamin B12 was normal range. Doctor put me on progesteron and estrogen. I have a problem with dizziness (swaying). The HRT makes my dizziness worse. Went to psychiatrist yesterday he gave me low dose of prozac, cause I'm sensitive to medications. I feel like death and I have no reprieve from this constant hell. Thanks for responding.
Avatar f tn m 45 year old woman and there is lots of family history of mental illness on both sides. I was on prozac for 4-5 years for depression. my new physc put me on lamictal..once i went up to 200mg i felt very very spacey so i am back down to 150. about 5 weeks ago she took me off my prozac and on lithium. I started at 300mg then moved up to 600mg..at that dose i was getting very severe nausia. then last week on tues i started to cry and could not stop..
Avatar n tn I agree, it sounds like your hormones may be out of whack. But I don't agree that the blood tests will show whether you're headed for menopause. I kept telling my doctor about my changes in monthlies, emotions, hot flashes, insomnia. I was sure I was headed for menopause. She kept doing the blood tests and told me I was doing just fine, no changes. One visit I assured her I was getting close, blood work said I was normal. Within that year I had my last period.
492898 tn?1222243598 It is also not a good idea at all to do what my oncologist told me to do and just switch from one to the other, and this is true for Celexa or Remeron, from one day to the next but he told me to go down to half the dose of Prozac for three days and then no Prozac for three days and then to half the dose of Remeron for a few days and then to the full dose. Just wanted to share this for whatever it's worth.
Avatar f tn I am 54 and have been going through menopause for 10 years now. I am healthy, exercise regularly, do not smoke, drink in moderation, eat as natural as is possible and take vitamin supplements. I had a hysterectomy 8/2009 due to prolapse. Recently, the past 2 or 3 years, my hot flashes have become so violent I was forced to go on estrogen (without progesterone) pills.
581310 tn?1253029550 I am feeling no different with the anxiety. I am thinking I might need to get on xanax for a little while until my prozac is increased since it is really driving me crazy. Any advice would be great.
Avatar f tn Nana, it doesn't appear that my response to your last message has been posted...strange. Anyway, many thanks for your concern! I have given your comments a lot of thought - and not to worry. I've checked the exp date on my Klonopin and it's still good. As for the Valerian, I don't think they make a prescription form, but I've decided to use it only sparingly.
Avatar n tn Our child was on Prozac for a year when she was six years old - she sufferd from severe anxiety and depression. We had major issues with the Prozac. Her doctor placed her on Effexor for two-three years with moderate success but some side effects as sweating and poor sleep issues. She now takes a very low dose of Celexa and is doing well. If it were me, I think I might choose point (3) with one of the newer SSRI's (they tend to have fewer side effects).
Avatar f tn I had to stop taking Prozac because of anxiety after taking it with no problems for years. So, if it works for you now, keep an eye on how it's working later.
Avatar f tn i had my hormones tested and went for results yesterday everything was so low so dr put me on estrotest to try for a mont ans a estogen vaginal cream.I hope it kicks in and get me feeling like the menest did at first...........i have no energy or sex drive....for some reason im feeling depressed again and im still on my wellbutrin and almost off the prozac..i have been doing nutrisystem and also going off the prozac i have lost 12 pounds..................
714806 tn?1230734304 Hi guys, Thanks for taking the time to write to me on this, im currently on an antidepressant which im giving up as i think its just adding to my tears,im going back on Prozac which i have been on for years, even though i cried on prozac it wasent as bad as this time.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your comments. Will give the Prozac a little while longer. What do you think of my doctors advice to switch from one drug to the other without weaning off the first one?
Avatar n tn Taking hormones (aka the pill) under the direct supervision of your gynecologist for a short period of time (no longer than 1-1-1/2 years) can be exceptionally helpful in eradicating symptoms associated with menopause. CLC: Your profile does not reflex your age nor sex, therefore the above advice may not apply.
Avatar f tn This doesn't sound right. You got a stomach ache, and that precipitated an anxiety attack? Is that common for you, that very small things cause you to have anxiety attacks, or was this the first time you got one? I'm asking because being put on an antidepressant for one anxiety attack is pretty bad medicine. These meds are used for chronic problems that are badly affecting your life and are resistant to other forms of treatment.
Avatar f tn i am 52 and over weight i have had 3 sivere epasodes of rapid heart beats and flutters which follow the fastest heart beat was 204 there are heart problems in the family i am going threw my menapause and i have been stressed for around 14 yrs and up untill 2 mths before my first epasode i stoped taking prozac i dont seem to be getting much of an answer from medical professionals thank you
709686 tn?1277432159 it does help little as it lowers your heart rate..
1331182 tn?1275475604 The doc said to basically make a clean switch to prozac, for example Tuesday take last dose of effexor and Wednesday take Prozac. I have read and read and read everything I could find about tapering and withdrawal. I have NOT read one thing about anyone just quitting effexor and being okay. It is because of the short half life of the drug, meaning it is out of your system the next day. Prozac takes 5 weeks to get out of your system which is why there are no withdrawals.
Avatar m tn Hello, I've been on Effexor XR for over 10 yrs, orignally perscribed for pre-menopause gradually upped to 300 mg. I've been on 300 mg for 3 yrs, long story short; no longer have health insurance due to a divorce so I started cutting back to 150mg per day from what I had left (6 days). I appealed the insurance issue which took (60 days) with his (ex-husbands)HR Dept and was denied, thinking I would be reinstated and able to get my meds.
Avatar f tn I was on prozac for 2 years for panic disorder. It worked very well, but I also took xanax as needed for breakthrough anxiety. However, for the first two weeks or so, the prozac made my anxiety much worse. I toughed it out, and it did its thing.
