Avatar n tn Some attribute blushing to social phobia, tho it differs in that it is not accompanied by a change in our pulse or blood pressure. Blushing is generally thought to be a response to embarrassment, but is the emotion that riggers blushing as broad and general as "embarrassment?" Or are there more nuances to the emotional cause of what Darwin termed "the most peculiar and most human of all expressions"?
1654058 tn?1407159066 While we're on blood.... I've had occasional bleeding gums since starting tx. I'm havng to floss a lot - all those nuts, seeds, juicing, frozen fruit in shakes... Using Therabreath toothpaste, and mouthwash and a softer brush helps. I'm just ultra cautious. I've had bleeding gums on occasion my whole life. Teeth cleaned annually, etc. Heck, I've cooked for my family for years, tasting the food, sharing an entree. My daughter n ex both tested neg 2 xs.
Avatar m tn I really appreciate that. I try to not think about it, but when people comment on it, it gets hard to not think about the color of my face. I'm used to blushing at blushing sports and the heat, but I'm not a fan of having always red cheeks.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've just finished taking accutane for 5 months and taking two 30mg twice daily. The past 2 or 3 months I've been noticing that blushing is a big problem for me. I always blushed before I took accutane, but it has never been this bad. Everything makes me blush. EVERYTHING. Even something as little as a stranger saying hello, and my face goes tomatoe red. All of my friends laugh about it which only makes matters worse. I'm very self conscious about it. Will this blushing go away?
Avatar f tn Exercise and fluctuating temperatures make them much for red for a certain period of time, however, I want to eliminate the fact that they are permanently blushing. It has always been an insecurity of mine and I want to find a way to get rid of them. My sibling and mother have rosy cheeks too. Picture: https://imgur.
Avatar f tn Hi, blushing is blood being drawn to the face and is triggered by many things. Maybe your just a cool person and do well under stress as your body is not triggering the response. Have you ever had you blood pressure tested? If not maybe go to one of those drugstores that has the machine and test it yourself. Just a thought.
Avatar f tn I get a very similar thing, and its not until after the blushing appears that i become nervous, only from being self conscious about it. It's become quite a burden, i stick a concealer in my pocket at school now, knowing im likely to get it daily. The only advice i have is the advice im about to take from the "red blotchy rash on chest" forum from this website.
Avatar n tn Hello, If rosacea has been ruled out then it can be due to blushing. Blushing is a sudden and involuntary reddening of the face, neck and ears. You can overcome it by psychological counseling with a psychologist/psychiatrist and boosting up your confidence levels. The treatment of severe blushing includes anti anxiety medicines and beta blockers.Severe cases may need endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy (ETS).
581310 tn?1253029550 I am feeling no different with the anxiety. I am thinking I might need to get on xanax for a little while until my prozac is increased since it is really driving me crazy. Any advice would be great.
Avatar f tn Hello, This redness of face can be due to blushing or rosacea. Blushing is a sudden and involuntary reddening of the face, neck and ears. The treatment of severe blushing includes anti anxiety medicines and beta blockers. Severe cases may need endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy(ETS). The treatment of roscea is entirely different. I suggest you to get an examination done from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn Our child was on Prozac for a year when she was six years old - she sufferd from severe anxiety and depression. We had major issues with the Prozac. Her doctor placed her on Effexor for two-three years with moderate success but some side effects as sweating and poor sleep issues. She now takes a very low dose of Celexa and is doing well. If it were me, I think I might choose point (3) with one of the newer SSRI's (they tend to have fewer side effects).
Avatar f tn I had to stop taking Prozac because of anxiety after taking it with no problems for years. So, if it works for you now, keep an eye on how it's working later.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your comments. Will give the Prozac a little while longer. What do you think of my doctors advice to switch from one drug to the other without weaning off the first one?
Avatar m tn Selective and non-selective. Propanolol is non-selective so it works for things like blushing, it blocks all adrenal receptors. Selective are usually specifically for cardiac muscle.
Avatar n tn Please, do not worry about the transient blushing of nose, as it is natural to notice such redness during anxiety and allergic episodes. You need to just keep a watch for any pimple like eruptions following blushing as it could be Acne Rosacea. About your query on whether it is possible to have non-allergenic rhinitis and allergenic rhinitis at the same time, I would say it is very unlikely to have both at the same time.
1331182 tn?1275475604 The doc said to basically make a clean switch to prozac, for example Tuesday take last dose of effexor and Wednesday take Prozac. I have read and read and read everything I could find about tapering and withdrawal. I have NOT read one thing about anyone just quitting effexor and being okay. It is because of the short half life of the drug, meaning it is out of your system the next day. Prozac takes 5 weeks to get out of your system which is why there are no withdrawals.
Avatar f tn I was on prozac for 2 years for panic disorder. It worked very well, but I also took xanax as needed for breakthrough anxiety. However, for the first two weeks or so, the prozac made my anxiety much worse. I toughed it out, and it did its thing.
Avatar m tn I could take a Beta Blocker to help control the symptoms or Prozac for longer term relief. I opted to start 10 mg Prozac just to get my mind back on track so that I could focus on improving my life vs. worrying about the next panic attack. So I'm currently at day 7 and its been a rough ride to say the least. Previously I was taking the Hydroxyzine for anxiety once a week, I have now taken it three days in a row. The worst is usually during the night and morning.
Avatar f tn When I went to see a doctor he prescribed me 10mg of Prozac. I have only been on the medicine for 4 days but I feel like my anxiety is worse than ever. I now have a constant tension in my shoulders, and I don't want to be around my friends or go out. I know the doctor told me that it takes three weeks to work but is this normal? It is really affecting my social life and my job. What should I do?
