Common Questions and Answers about Prozac dosage for pms

prozac

Avatar f tn The only thing to help me was Prozac 10mg once daily. It was like night and day. My PMS is torture for me and everyone else involved. I thank God my doctor knew the solution.
581310 tn?1253029550 I am feeling no different with the anxiety. I am thinking I might need to get on xanax for a little while until my prozac is increased since it is really driving me crazy. Any advice would be great.

Avatar f tn When I went to see a doctor he prescribed me 10mg of Prozac. I have only been on the medicine for 4 days but I feel like my anxiety is worse than ever. I now have a constant tension in my shoulders, and I don't want to be around my friends or go out. I know the doctor told me that it takes three weeks to work but is this normal? It is really affecting my social life and my job. What should I do?
Avatar n tn My doctor recently started me on 40 mg of prozac a little over 2 weeks ago. I have taken numerous depression drugs in the past where my doc has started me on a very low dosage and worked me up to higher dosages but on prozac we went straight to 40 mg. I have been having headaches, nausua and dizziness. I thought these symptoms would fade away but I have had no luck. I'm beginning to wonder if this dosage is too high. I don't know anything about prozac....
Avatar m tn I have been taking 20mg of prozac for about 5 1/2 wks for anxiety/panic. I am still having some anxiety. Thinking about increasing dosage to 30mg. Does anyone know if that will help?
Avatar f tn I just recently started on klonipin my dr. Prescribed 1 mg 2 times a day but it makes me to sedated to the point where I can't function so I changed it to .05 mg a day I feel great am also in Prozac been on for 15 yrs was recently on lorazepam but wasn't working just want to know if that is ok . It was just too much .
Avatar f tn 5 months I took klonopin sparingly and Prozac. I stayed on Prozac for my entire second pregnancy. My oldest son is fine. My younger son has ADHD but so do I as well as my husband so I don't think it came from the Prozac. Do a bit of research as far as studies go. When I had my kids, there were no studies. There wasn't even the Internet I don't think. I guess what I'm saying is you can have your sanity as well as children.
Avatar m tn I have taken 10-20mg Prozac for 10 yrs now, off and on. It helped a great deal with depression and panic attacks, but not so much with the generalized anxiety or agoraphobia. It also put alot of weight on me. But helped me sleep better at night too. Also helped with PMS, but oddly messed up my cycles. Overall, it was a good drug.
Avatar m tn ve read on this site that Wellburtrin does not have sexual effects. I took Prozac for many years and had great success...it is a good med.
Avatar f tn As you said 10mg is the lowest dosage for Prozac. If you do decide to go up you will likely be bumped up to 20mg and see how that goes for a few weeks.
Avatar m tn So basically i was put on prozac 40mg a day. Im 14 and it was liquid prozac. So for liquid prozac for every 5ml you take thats 20mg in pill form. My doctor thought it was for every 5ml of the liquid it is 10mg or the prozac pill form. So anyways.... I told my doctor and she put me back down to 20mg. Now when i was on the 40mg my mind was clear and i was happy. Now..... Since iv been put back on 20mg my thoughts have came back and i fear it wont work again. Any advice?
Avatar m tn my partner has been on prozac for around 10 years and recently weaned herself of them.4 months down the line she is feeling really low ,is this a side affect of the drug e.g. coming out of her system or should she be considering retking it .she really dosent want to start again. Is there a phone number she can ring or a helpline where she can discuss her symtoms. many thanks A.
Avatar f tn Have taken a low dose of Prozac 10 mg for years for pms and my doc told me to increase to 20 mg. Not sure if I need something else... this really came on suddenly and do not want it to get worse. Does anyone have other depression meds that worked best during treatment? Also, I have a swollen lymph node in my groin, very hard. Did anyone ever have this sx? Thank you......
Avatar m tn I could take a Beta Blocker to help control the symptoms or Prozac for longer term relief. I opted to start 10 mg Prozac just to get my mind back on track so that I could focus on improving my life vs. worrying about the next panic attack. So I'm currently at day 7 and its been a rough ride to say the least. Previously I was taking the Hydroxyzine for anxiety once a week, I have now taken it three days in a row. The worst is usually during the night and morning.
Avatar n tn How long have you been taking the Prozac for? Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to get adjusted to medication. Also my psychiatrist told me alot of people who suffer from anxiety/depression will think the medication is making them worse because the are already struggling with anxiety/depression. However, some medications just don't work for people, or cause side effects such as fatigue.
924711 tn?1290266557 I used to take Prozac for my severe depression, but after 3 months at a high dosage I gave up on it because it failed to work at all. Then again most antidepressant are not strong enough to work for my level of depression, so I may not be the best one to ask. Prozac works pretty good for some people. Either way, you have 5 more weeks to go before you will even know if it's going to work.
Avatar f tn NOTE- not all meds work for everybody, we are all different. Zoloft was awful for me, prozac was amazing. I would suggest switching meds/ taking a higher dosage... Of course talk to your doctor about this first, this is just my opinion. I would also suggest asking your doctor for klonopin for those HIGH ANXIETY moments.... Other than your anxiety you're a healthy kid!
559659 tn?1547763060 I'm bipolar with horrible pmdd. Is there any room for this kind of tracker? I know there are alot of women out there who would appreciate it. Thanks!
248167 tn?1220363690 I totally understand being afraid of taking meds., so I always started on a mega- low dose, because that gave me more peace. I figured that if I felt horrible on a small dose it wasn't the right med., so i'd stop before side effects were unbearable and try something else. Prozac didn't work for me, but it might work for you, and you won't know until you try. If you work, you can always start on your days off, if you are really scared.
