prozac cost

Due my health insurance more then tripling the cost of Cymbalta I have to change meds. I have been using Cymbalta for alomost four years, I am very concerned that my Doc wants to start me on 40mg of Prozac when I have been on 120mg of Cymbalta. Can I have your thoughts about 40mg vs. 120mg and what side affects I will have to go though.

s not covered by my new insurance company so I asked my psychopharmacologist if I could change to something else. He suggested Prozac. I took Prozac many years ago with no problem so I agreed. At his suggestion, I stopped the Cymbalta cold turkey (90mg) and switched the next day to Prozac (60 mg). Four days after I started I began to get pounding heartbeat-- but I dont' feel nervous or anxious-- just feels like my heart is beating out of my chest.

The only problem with the Brand name is the cost!! Brand name Prozac 90 day mail order $445 ! Generic Chinees stuf about $28 and this is with insurance. I've asked my doc to see if there is a reliable generic SSRI drug out there that won't break the bank. Anyone have any suggestions? Oh and please don't suggest Paroxetine (Paxil) been down that rode....

I have just stopped taking 80 mg prozac after about 6 mos. I liked the prozac because it made me so happy and carefree.But it just did not stop my jitters from anxiety. So I stopped prozac one day and began Cymbalta the next (30mg for the first week and then 60 mg for the past 31/2 wks. I do have less anxiety now with the Cymbalta but I also have lost that jovial attitude that I was begininning to enjoy with the prozac.

Im wondering if anyone has found an antidepressant that works similarly to Prozac? Ive been a life long sufferer of depression and been on Prozac for about 20 years now (took some "vacations" off it a few times but had to go back on it). In the last year or so though, for some reason, the Prozac now gives me SEVERE heartburn right after I take it.

I have been sick on and off since 2003. All really weird symptoms and never any explaination found. I have had Brain/spine/abdominal MRI's Ct scans of the brain/pelvis /ear and abdomen...tons of bloodwork and everthing comes up neg. I have had ear infections, urinary retantion, gastroparesis, GERD etc. I just started on a sm dose of prozac as my doc and I am at a loss..... We've ruled out autoimmune stuff as well....Is this anxiety. I had been very "keyed up" after 9/11..

Generic Prozac is really cheap. Cost shouldn't be a factor, only whether you feel your life is so impacted by your problems that you need the med.

s too expensive. prozac makes my brain feel weird. i have screwed up brain chemistry, but i want to get off of meds. how do i do this and manage to have a normal life--be able to hold a job, stay married, not yell at my kid, not think about ending my life, etc...?

Hi tomskat, I just posted on the depression forum that I noticed a difference in Prozac and the generic form (fluxientine sp?) Prozac worked wonderfully for me were the generic form didn't do me any good. I spoke with my doctor (not the one who perscribed either med to me) about this and she agreed and said the generic Prozac is not as effective. Hope this helps.

Is the generic version of Prozac as good as the name brand one? Any experience with either?

s health insurance, only the newer ones are not paid like Cymbalta. Drugs like Zoloft, Prozac, Remeron will not cost you. The therapy would cost you tho. but it is the place to start usually and antidepressants are at maximum efficacy when used with therapy.

t have much money to spend, but it depends on what different systems cost. I have BP l and have been stable on meds for three years, but my depressions are getting worse. I just started taking Prozac with my other meds and have had only marginal improvement. I've seen someone post recently about using a box during midday. I have a full-time job so that wouldn't be practical. Thanks so much.

I am on prozac and have been for about 6 months....This last week I have been very manic with ALOT of paranoia and anger. Could this be the prozac or would it have happened by now?

I just panicked because the trial could cost me gaining weight that I might not be able to lose. I guess switching now to Prozac was the right choice before it´s too late with Pristiq. Doing my excercise routine has been really difficult because I have no energy, but I guess, like you say, I have to try and do my best, and maybe just walk for a while until I recover my energy. I have been on Effexor XR 150 mg for 4 years and due to the cost and effect on my libido, I have started withdrawal, first tapered to 75 mg for 30 days, now on 37.5 for 15 days, then everyother day, and to continue till I'm done. Well in talking to my pharmacist she said she has seen violent reactions when people stop suddenly. My mood swings are terrible and I'm suprised my husband hasn't locked me up. m 45 year old woman and there is lots of family history of mental illness on both sides. I was on prozac for 4-5 years for depression. my new physc put me on lamictal..once i went up to 200mg i felt very very spacey so i am back down to 150. about 5 weeks ago she took me off my prozac and on lithium. I started at 300mg then moved up to 600mg..at that dose i was getting very severe nausia. then last week on tues i started to cry and could not stop..

Not sure if I am able d/t high FSH. didn't get result for AMH as of yet. But if its not possible for me to have one biologically we are considering using DE. My question. Is it cheaper using a family or friend as a donor in comparison using an anonymous donor. Where I am living, it cost $16,500 for DE...IVF cost almost $20,000.

hello again, thanks to all the people that responded. was wondering about the cost of meds. interferon and ribavirin, im checking with my ins. to see what they will cover. i may have misspoke about this thing on hepititusccure.net i dont think it is herbal? it deals with fatty liver tissue. but its only 50 bucks to read about it so i dont really have anything to lose. going back to doc in 3 mo. not sure why till i decide on tx. if tx takes care of virus, do people go back to normal lifestyle?

If you have cash and offer to pay up front (for a discount) you may get charged less than what they can get out of the insurance company, because it's less hassle and instant money for them.
