prozac and weight

When I was taking Prozac I didnt gain weight.Paxcel made me gain some though.

Is there a correlation between taking Prozac and weight gain? I have been on this med for close to 20 years and have steadily gained weight during those years (2-3 pounds a year). I wondered if it is the meds or just me!?!

A question to anyone out there that's taken Prozac and gained weight have they changed to a different medication because of it and which one? Did it do the job it needs to without the weight gain of Prozac?

ve heard that some people lose weight on prozac, but some people who are skinny to begin with (like me) often gain weight with prozac. I've been off it for ages but have recently gone on it again. I'm having a hard time adjusting back to it as well. From what I remember, last time it took me about a month before the side effects went away. You could try mirtazapine (Avanza) it wont affect your sex drive. I tried it, but it made me way too drowsy.

I have been taking prozac and wellbutrin. Some Drs. say its ok and some dont. I have been going on my second week with no wellbutrin and am staying nausea all the time. I felt like the Wellbutrin was causing me to gain weight.

I have been on both citalopram and prozac but citalopram was longterm weight gain, dry mouth and headaches and prozac major short term weight gain. Came of prozac for that reason after only a few months and wonder if it would've settled with time, or go back to the one i was on for 12 years but had some side effects including weight gain. Doc says my last option is mirtazapine but it is also an appetite stimulator.

Since adding wellbutrin on june 10th to my prozac which i am now up to 50 mg and xanax and adderall i have devolped a tummy...its fat i have never had this problem before Im still feeling depressed but functioning...dont see my dr for 3 months,i would like to just go off meds,im taking a vitamin b cpmplex now and emergenc hoping the vitamins will help....

Do you guys have any explanation for the weight loss and reduction in testosterone levels? The loss in testosterone and weight is very large given the time span. What are some suggestions? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

I need antidepressant to function so I went back on and all symptoms (and weight) returned, despite the denial that these symptoms in fact do exist by the medical community (which annoys the daylights out of me, I live in this body but whatever.

s true that a small percentage of people gain weight on Paxil, but that does not mean you will...so be careful about how much you eat and exercise, and you will probably be all right.

I've heard that is one of the drawbacks for Remeron. I've only been on it for a month and no weight gain except the 5 lbs that I had lost from the terrible withdrawl side effects of the Paxil. My Doctor only plans to keep me on it until my body gets use to the Prozac....and I agree I'm ok on the Remeron, but don't feel as though it is helping me that much.

I am taking Vyvanse and Prozac, and I'm having trouble getting myself to eat. I am still in a healthy weight range, so I'm not worried about that. But I've been weak, fatigued, and dizzy at times because I'm not eating enough. Are there any protein shakes I should try, or something like that, so I can be getting the nutrients I need? I hate most protein shakes because I can't stand the texture, and they're usually gross. But I have to do something.

Well know I know I do have MS and all those symptoms were likely a relapse and the relapse cleared and it looked like I needed an anti depressant. But it was far more likely MS Relapse-Remission. Prozac are not steroids so id doesn't treat the inflamation of a relapse, so it may have slowed my MS down but I do not think it treated that exacerbation. I think MS went into remission again & it looked very much like I had been successfully diagnosed and treated for depression....

No dose seemed to fit for me. But, I lost the weight I was needing to lose (20 lbs) and if I go off Vyvanse, will it come back on with a vengance? I have heard hunger just is out of control when stopping this drug. So I am afraid to stay on it and I am afraid to go off it.

Yea, Paxil is a bad one for weight gain. Fair warning... If any doctor tries to put you on Remeron and weight is a concern for you then SAY NO WAY. I have been on both at differnt times in the past. You want to talk about weight gain? OMG! Remeron makes Paxil look like a diet pill! Taking Remeron is like wanting to be fat.

I have recently switched from Prozac to Wellbutrin, in the hope that i will loose the weight i have put on while i was on Prozac. It has been about 6 or 7 weeks and i was doing well with the switch and the side effects. BUT, since about a week, i have been feeling so miserable...headaches all the time, the dizziness and the brain shifting thing that is going on brought on so many panic attacks...

I'm on 10mg of Prozac and have noticed some weight gain within the past 2 months or so and my doctor has suggested I start taking Wellbutrin along with the Prozac but my biggest concern is having panic attacks. I suffer from panic disorder w/ agoraphobia and the Prozac has been helping but I'm afraid that adding on the Wellbutrin may counteract that. (I know it is considered a stimulant for a lot of people - hence the usual weight loss.

m a 16 year old boy and i was prescribed topamax 25mg for migraines over a year ago. A few months ago i was also prescribed wellbutrin 300mg and prozac 10mg for depression and anxiety. When I first started taking the topamax i hardly sweated. I did start sweating a fair amount before taking the wellbutrin and prozac but the sweating has just increased since then and i've been getting large stains on my armpits just from sitting in class.

i am wanting to know what other med i can take, that will not put so much weight on me. i have been told that prozac is ok and will not add weight. i also had a friend who was on paxil 20 mg. her doctor switched her avitan, and she loast 25 lbs. she is doing great. will this help me.
