be an interaction between melatonin and Prozac (fluoxetine). Some evidence comes from animal studies, but how these relate to humans is still unresolved (as far as I know; I been out of the loop for a couple years. In animal studies, melatonin does decrease levels of fluoxetine, but the significance of this is in question. A molecule related to fluoxetine, fluvoxamine (Luvox) naturally increases blood levels of melatonin.

I have a prescription for trazadone but do not want to take because of the interaction with the prozac. Ive been reading about melatonin. Has anyone tried taking it for sleep? Did it help? And will the insomnia from prozac get better and how long would that take?

My psychiatrist put me in prozac and buspar. Are these two good together? Do they have interactions? Has anyone else taken these together?

Many doctors will prescribe it short term on an as needed basis especially when you start and SSRI like Prozac. I was prescribed it and used it for couple of months while I got used to the SSRI...just work with your doctor when you come off of it; for me there was a little rebound anxiety but it helped that I cam off of it slowly, and furthermore, I was not on it that long. Hey Linda, Welcome to the forum. Actually there's a SERIOUS interaction with Zoloft and BuSpar already. The both increase Serotonin levels! Discuss this with the prescribing Physician immediately. I'm surprised the Pharmacist didn't pick it up. Again, it happens all the time,so why should I be surprised. And if you think about it, only takes seconds to check these interactions! Which Benadryl type are you referring to? Is the Children's Allergy and Cold perhaps?

If a little extra melatonin in her system could cause her IUD birth control device stop working than I strongly urge her to never turn off the lights as that will result in melatonin being produced by her body and lead to the IUD failure as well.

I'm currently taking xanax, and will start prozac tomorrow. Does anyone know of any possible interaction between xanax and prozac taken together? Has anyone experienced breathing problems with Zoloft. Youknow, the "I can't quite catch my breath" feeling. And if you yawn you finally get enough air. My heart and lungs have checked out fine. I was diagnosed with PVC's 15 years ago and was put on Metoprolol 25 mg. I've now been diagnosed with depression and was prescribed Prozac 10 mg which I'm afraid to take now because of the drug interactions I've seen on the internet with these two drugs. i think ur right something i am taking at night either advil pm the hylands and the colonodine is causing a interaction... the only way i can sleep is taking advil pm and colonodine..the hylands does help though...im trying to figure out if i should just come off the colonodine if it is much use with just the RLS...it makes me really tired and i drag#$% all day!!

Hi i'm on Prozac and trazodone if you start on a low dose of trazodone it shouldn't be an issue and there really is no interaction with trazodone and Prozac because I've been on trazodone and Prozac for years and I've never had a problem you just have to take it like maybe you're better off just taking half a tablet or something

Prozac and Paxil both significantly block the pathway for the metabolism of Adderall and all the amphetamine products. [Wellbutrin and Cymbalta can block 2D6 at their higher doses.] If you take either of these two antidepressants together with an amphetamine, just watch out. Dosages for prozac range from 20Mgs a day up to 60Mgs a day. You can expect it to be between 3 to 6 weeks before any theraputic effects of the Prozac kick in. The most common side effects are Dry mouth, (almost everyone gets this) and either constipation or Diareea. That one kind of depends on the person.

What can she do to help herself? She w as taken off both on Wednesday and put on prozac. Can she use tylenol for the headache? Someone told her it is not safe to do. Another person suggested melatonin. Is that safe? She is bi polar and has gained over 100 lbs on these meds over the last 6 years. This is ridiculous! Will she gain on prozac also? I don't know about specific interactions here, but the rule of thumb is to take thyroid meds first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. You should not eat or drink anything but water for a half to one hour after taking meds. You should not take any other meds or supplements with your thyroid meds or for 3-4 hours after.

Taking it will result in regulating your internal clock for sleep, like take it 1 or 2 hour before going to bed. Sun exposure reduce the melatonin production and dark activates it. With all artificial light these day it's common to see people having a melatonin problem meaning also sleep problems. Kicking log day 10: After a very negative interaction with prozac, I had to cease 20mg oxycodone cold turk. Bad thing for me, couldn't wean down because if the adverse reaction which seems to have made my w/d longer resulting in fatigue, insomnia, horrendous migraines, restlessness, fever, nausea, and stage 4 - terminal RLS. Have decided to cut off my legs, but am now sure best way to do so. I am thinking maybe a circular saw, but fear that might leave me with soreness.

s couple hours before I lay down for the night. I stay there and twitch and the rest of it for 3 hours and then last night I took 8 more of the Leg Cramp PM's. I slept the rest of the night. I'll keep doing that as long as I can. I'm afraid of the melatonin because I take Prozac. I can take a hot shower but not a hot bath. The sun is shining this afternoon for the first time in too many days so I'm going to take your advice, get out of my head and out of this house....right now.

We have a great vet who has put him on a regimen of melatonin and a spruce tree extract that we buy online. Total costing around $12 a month. Immediately the swollen belly went down and he has been fine since! We give him these twice a day. If he misses a dose, he’s anxious and panting so we try to be very good about it. It’s worth a shot! would pain lasting a week be the heart or my anxiety,im on xnax for anxiety and prozac for depression..i have had these pains in previous years but not as bad and im having anxiety bad so i dont know if that amking it worse,,,,my blood presure and heart rate is good i do have slight ischemai of the heart and high colerstrral.......
