Common Questions and Answers about Prozac and gas

prozac

the doctors put on prelosec, zantac, and prozac thinking it was do to anxiety. But it has not been working. We saw another doctor and he put him on meds. for abdominal migraine. That is not working either. The syptoms are worse around 4:00pm . He trys to relief it by going to the bathroom. But most on the time it does not work. He does burp and pass gas with this syptom. I am starting to think it is something really bad. He sometime cries because the nausea is so bad and he turns white.

Please Help: For the past 2 weeks I have had an extreme amount of gas (external and internal) I am burping quite frequently. Everytime I take a sip of something I belch at least 3 times. I have felt like I wanted to throw up but have not and I have discomfort feeling (pain/burning) in my upper left abdomen.
old son who is suffering from acute nausea with symptoms of gas and burping. He is now on zantac and a medcation for abdominal migraine. Nothings is working for him. He is also on prozac because his doctor think this symptoms are do to anxiety. But it is not helping. This symptoms are at the worst and early evening and the only way he relief his problem is going to bed. I am very worried the there is something very wrong with him. He cries often and wishes it would stop.
The strangest symptons though are just constant vibrations or movements in my intestinal area, bad heart burn, bad gas, and a feeling like I have to burp but just cant. Im hoping that my heart is fine and the feelings are just from my focusing on it too much, but I just dont know. Can anyone relate to this? Its been 3 months and I cant even sleep anymore.
I found that if I take Zantac 75 two hours prior to taking the Prozac, it really works to reduce the acid and heartburn. Maalox and Tums, etc. are temporary fixes, it seems, but Zantac last 24 hours.
I love porzac and 20mgs worked very well for me. The first two my depression was worse but I stuck it out and the depression actually got a lot better. Though I couldn't have an orgasm AT ALL. I could get allworked up but ya know, nothing else. I'm weaning off the prozac now and taking wellbutrin.
As the day went on, I got a little better. A couple of hours ago, I started getting that knowing pain in my stomach just above my navel, moving up under my ribs. I take it you mean by the anti spastics you mean the Dicycomine and Kevsin. They seemed to help some but was told to stop them when I had the irregular heartbeat. I used to take Prozac years ago but was pulled off that when I was agitated and developed tremors but I was also on Reglan at the time and think it was that.
can you please advise me on whether or not these symptoms (especially the dizziness, a feeling of extreme lightheadedness and lightness in my limbs, and the gas). i have been experiencing those for about 3 nights now and so far, all day today. i exercise normally, my strenth is great considering the fibromyalgia, but it is still a struggle to not feel victimized by the drugs and betrayed by my own body. am i withdrawing too quickly?
The test was performed by placing a gas mask on a monkey and pumping marijuana smoke in for 30 mins at a time, with no brakes for oxygen or clean air. The study was poorly performed and it was severely criticized by a medical review board. Studies done afterwards failed to show any brain damage, in fact a very recent study on Rhesus monkeys used technology so sensitive that scientists could actually see the effect of learning on brain cells, and it found no damage.
I had no appetite, low grade fever, diarrhea, excessive gas and bloating, and fatique, but it would kinda come and go. I would think I was getting better, then it would get worse again. The doctor even said it sounded like my gallbladder, which is what I felt, but the tests all came back negative. I always end up feeling like I'm a hypochondriac or something, but like you said, you know when somethings not right with your body.
She said many of the anti-depressants (Zoloft, Prozac and Wellbutrin were the examples she gave) can help with fatigue, but unlike other drugs that work immediately, these can take 4-6 weeks to notice a difference (and sometimes up to 3 months). Her approach is to first look at what co-factors can be removed/changed, including drugs rather than adding more. Here is a summary of her major points about fatigue: Fatigue is the #1 complaint of PwMS.
you take the cake with that one, i liked the soap dispenser one but you will have to google that one sorry father knows best pretend your a saint , thats my clue to you well now to my serious stuff i started having palpations upon waking yesterday and today and they continued all day when i started day 2 of 100 mcg of synthyroid so i called my endo an played phone tag so i called at 6pm cause i was trying to eat dinner and my heart felt like it was speeding and if i stood up i would feel faint o
I asked my doctor to check my ph levels to see if they are off but she didn't want to jump to that yet. I am an anxiety disorder and depression patient. Have taken Klonopin and Prozac for years expect during the two years pregnant and additional two breastfeeding. Since the birth of my daughter one year ago today I have just fallen to pieces. I have suffered with anxiety/panic attacks and depression. The stress I believe (plus possibly the pregnancy) has caused all the problems with my stomach.
I do have anxiety and depression and last week was put on PROZAC - I want to go to another neurologist, but I don't want to start at the very beginning again.......... Could it be serious? MS, Diabetes, etc..........
After a month of flu symptoms, vertigo, mood swings and stabbing pains in my head I did some research and asked my doctor to put me on a low dose of Prozac to ease the side effects. After much humming and harring he did this and it worked! I am now on 75mg Effexor and 20mg Prozac and feel almost normal but today stopped taking the Effexor completely on doc's instructions. I guess it doesn't help that I have a bad cold also but I am dreading the next few weeks.
If you have then you might benefit from seeing a Psychiatrist as a lot of this may be anxiety. Believe me, because I've had it. IT caused me a lot of problems. Since I have been taking prozac and xanax, my symptoms have been much better. You may also benefit from taking a beta blocker which will slow your heart and keep it regular. Ask your doctor about these medicatons. I still have pvc's but they're not as bad. Best of luck to you.
I know the neuros don't take many extra questions in the forum due to cost, but after reading so many of these posts about benign fasiculations it seems like a few questions could be asked for the group of twitchers and maybe resolve some of the questions for us. Do BENIGN fasciculations make a person's legs or arms feel fatigued, not necessarily weak - I think I could walk around the zoo, etc...
I am trying to stay positive, but this is far from the first time I have stopped the narcotics and I wonder if it ever will end. Just wanted you all to know how much help you've been and thanks for being there!
I am now 35, 3 children and when i was diagnosed manic-depressive i was on prozac, wellbutrin and taking hi levels of prescription weight loss pills. I was losing my mind but i wasn't losing any weight! When my Psychatrist decided to try me on Topamax it was because of my anieity over my weight gain with the standard mood stabilizers. Within these past two years I have lost 38 pounds taking this medicine.
I went back to my GI and had the Flex Sig done, and he said everything looked good , and he saw a few small Hemroids. I told him my pain was intolerable, and that we need to find out why I cant sit, for it is painful, and continues throught the day...I asked if maybe I have Levator syndrome, and he kind of shook his head, and said that was the same as IBS. Well I also asked if maybe I had endometrioses on my rectum, he said not possible...
it took me a year to find out what was wrong with me and i ended up housebound for a year and half straight.Ive been on so many different medications but i found that klonopin and prozac are a good fit for now. It makes it real hard on me because i go through stages. One year i can get on a plane and visit my mother in florida, then the next i cant even be alone at my house nevermind leave it! Im at that point right now, i cannot even be alone for five minutes or i will have a panic attack.
Well I am being treated for alcoholism , my Doctor prescribed Naltraxone , and it really help , but im also on prozac as well cause of issues in my life. I was binge drinking at weekends drinking upto 20 litres of beer, not sure how much that is in cans, All i can say is I dont have alcohol in the house now and I avoid the alcohol line at the supermarket.
I've been taking 500mg metformin myself and I have not experienced any weight loss. I am actually taking it for diabetes treatment. But it has not helped with my weight loss.
About 4 years ago I was going through a tough time - a breakup of a 4 year relationship. Until that point, I was not a real emotional type of person. I had a demanding job and was going through the breakup. I found myself going through crying fits - VERY out of the norm for me. For the first time in my life started to ask myself if there was something wrong with me. I went to see my family doctor about the situation. I was "diagnosed" with depression and put on Wellbutrin and Lexapro.
It is too early to tell, but it did relieve the symptoms that time at released some gas pressure from between the diaphragm and the heart. I suspect that somehow this pressure starts a spasm in the vascular system that carries up to the heart resulting in a-fib. Once it starts, it takes 18 to 24 hours to stop. It seems that most cardiology experts dismiss this as anecdotal. From a lay person with a 10 year history, this seem like tunnel vision.
I've been on Prozac off and on. And have had all the tests run many times. Anxiety is SO hard to deal with. Dizziness and lightheaded are annoying!
And if there were a true 'balanced view' then there would not now be several thousand posts on the two Prozac (7+ thousand) and Paxil (c. 3.5 thousand) Petitions that I know of , all of whom are suffering from adverse effects/withdrawal symptoms or, worse, have lost a child, relative or friend to these drugs. If there had been a BALANCED view then several of my friends would still have their children, young human beings with a right to life, with them. Alive.
Hi All, I am in the same boat, have been on and off Prozac for about 15 years (off because I can't stand the diarrhea) and on because I can't stand the depression. Other antidepressants have the same effect. I have been diagnosed with collagenous colitis, (this was found after a year of having been off prozac, my gut was feeling not that bad at the time) but now I am back on it and going to the bathroom 20 times a day again.
The friend has reassured me time and time again that he is negative and plus we used protection. But everynow and then my ocd flares up and nothing that anyone says can convince me otherwise. The friend thinks that I am a complete lunatic and we hardly speak to each other anymore as a result of all this. This isn't the first time I have thought I have had HIV, in the past I have worried about this and despite negative tests I still remained convinced that I have HIV.
