Prozac and fibromyalgia

Common Questions and Answers about Prozac and fibromyalgia

prozac

I was diagnosed in 2005 and struggle with new symptoms all the time. Do some research on Fibromyalgia and my suggestion would be to see a Rheumatologist ASAP. Good Luck to you and God Bless!
Hi, I am a 25 year old female that was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in August along with many other things...I have been staying so tired, some days sleeping more than 15 hours....Just getting out of bed sometimes is almost impossible...For you all what has been the most helpful treatment (exercise, therapy or medication) for your fatigue? All of my medicines cause fatigue and so do all 8 to 10 diagnoses I currently have...Thanks so much for your help.
I've been using the xanax twice a day with the prozac and things aren't perfect, but are better. Thank God my DR. approved my xanax refill or I would be completely miserable and unable to sleep with the anxiety.
Were you ever on antidepressants or any medication that would effect dopamine, serotonin or norepinephrine levels, prior to being dx'd with Fibromyalgia? If so, what was your age and approximately how long did you stay on the medication. Thank you for your response to this poll. Have a nice day.
I think i wore my body out, because 18 years ago, after nursing 25 years, and having tons of energy, my body collapsed, and i spent 6 years in bed with a diagnosis of chronic fatigue immune syndrome and fibromyalgia..it was acute onset, strep throat, etc., but i never recovered. i had been bulemic for 25 years(after losing my 2 sons).. Anyway, i know they have developed many more ssri's and double neurepiinephrine uptakes(which have too many side-effects)..why do people not talk about it..
ok...here is another site full of information... ***@****. that address will get you to the person who runs the site. It is full of info...check the archives, type in depression and DMich as the author. TONS of information and success stories. I am so glad we have the internet these days to do research. We are no longer on our own at the mercy of medical schools, all different and physicians, all good people trained by medical schools and doing the best that they can.
Normally I've been told the Cymbalta gives other people 'more' energy. Am I going off the Prozac too soon and suffering withdrawals from the Prozac. My doc is out of town til next Monday. His fill in doc told me just to double the Cymbalta. Any experience or advice? I am 55 years age. Thanks much.
In addition to the community here, MedHelp also offers tools to help you and your doctor in your road to wellness. Fibromyalgia and CFS can be so intricate and can have so many different symptoms. Due to this, it is very helpful that MedHelp offers health trackers for us to utilize. We can track our progress and especially our flare ups. Below are just a few trackers that I find useful. • CFS/FMS Tracker - http://www.medhelp.org/land/health-trackers • Pain Tracker - http://www.medhelp.
I found out I have fibromyalgia doctor put me on Savella I also take prozac and wellburtin is that safe to take it?
Wondering about something to take for this stinking fibromyalgia? I am on 120 mg of methadone. Seems like the lyrica, cymbalta, prozac, elavil did not help me at all. I also have hep c so I have to watch what I take because it may be hard on my liver as well. My doc at the clinic will not raise me on the meth and the pain doctor will not help me because I am on methadone. I get so uncomfortable sometimes and it is rough.
For the last 4 years I’ve been using nutrition—Intravenous and oral—to rebuild and repair the biochemistry pathways in the body and mind. Over four years experience —this includes heroin, and all other street drugs, alcohol, and prescription medications--has taught me that natural detox works 100 times better than detox formulated and predicated by the use of other mind altering chemicals.
My anxiety is so bad I don't know what to do. I am also on a low dose of prozac for depression. Abilify was added because the dr. thought i might be bi-polar. I dont think i am nor do my friends and family?? But recently the anxiety is unbearable i take xanax when it's really bad but it's has been so bad that i would have to take it once or twice a day and i really don't want to??? any suggestions??
May, as my Shrink advised, he said that Zoloft or Paxil are the two best for my problem and controling anxiety and Panic. But I don't get it, Prozac daily (not the weekly one) has Panic and anxiety and fibromyalgia as it's "listed" uses? But I don't want anything that will have a stimulating effect! That's for sure, otherwise the PVC's I know will kick in, just for starters. Thanks for that info.
Epinephrine is a major upper all on it's own. Prozac can trigger mania, and it works on serotonin. All anti-depressants are activating, but combining these things (and others) may make it more likely to over-activate you.
I'm 57 year old male and have been on pain meds for five years due to disc issues, stenosis, severe arthritis, and fibromyalgia. Has anyone else had experience with taking Cymbalta and Abilify?
I have fibromyalgia and now diagnosed with bipolar. My psychiatrist has put me on Depakote. I had gastric bypass surgery 17 months ago and lost 107 pounds but have regained 20 pounds. She took me off of Neurontin and Flexeril because of weight gain and I am in severe pain and cannot sleep. I now find out Depakote puts on weight. I have heard that Topmax helps with the weight. Any advice?
I had a consultation to have this nonsurgical procedure for fat reduction by microinjections of PPD, done on my abs and chin. The doctor who directs the clinic is a MD, FACS. I understand the two naturally occuring chemicals, phospatidylcholine (soy product/lethicin) and deoxycholate (bile acid) shrink & dissolve fat cells as a detergent. The inflammatory response of the body completes the destruction of the fat cells and are excreted in the urine. The phosph.
I still have left arm/shoulder/chest pain. I've been to 2 regular MDs, cardiologist and neurologist and now they are saying maybe fibromyalgia. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it! Do you think my pain is of cardiac origin? I also have terrible ingiestion, burping and upper stomach pain - have had it for 2 months. Is this normal? Do you think I'll have a heart attack? I'm scared everyday of this. Help!!!! Thanks!
I was happy that at least this was something I could handle (without Prozac, of course). I went back to work and crashed (acute fatigue)and had to get bed rest for a few days. One morning, very recently, I get out of bed and almost fell because I couldn't feel my right leg! The feeling lasted for a minute or so. I am getting a second opinion and having a MRI done (of course I had to convince my family doctor to refer me another Neuro).
then last november, i suffered my first panic attack, went on ativan (4 mgs) and upped my prozac which made me super agressive. dumped the prozac and went on zoloft. ativan stopped the panic attacks, teeth pain, i felt GREAT (or at least totally anestithised). only problem? i am now an addict going through horrible withdrawl. in a month, i tapered down from 4 mgs a day to half a mg each night to help me sleep along with 50 mgs of elavil.
In my case I have lost about 10lbs and feel less fogged out in the head. I have Fibromyalgia and that makes you awfully tired so this drug has helped me get moving and motivated. I also am worried about Seizures but I weighed the pros and cons and decided I needed this help more than the risk of a seizure. Good luck everyone!
i have severe anxiety, agoraphobia with panic disorder, socail anxiety, avoidant behavoir/disorder and possible fibromyalgia, which i never had before the addiction (only little depression and anxiety) so enough of me and all my baggage..how old are your kids? are you a single mom? when did you start pills and for how long? are you clean now and if so for how long? how did you get clean? are you on any medications now? does anything in particular help you with withdrawals and anxiety?
I have constant grinding, popping, and cracking sounds in my joints all over my body, especially in my neck, very badly in my shoulders, my back, jaw, elbows, wrists, knees and hips. It does not usually hurt but my muscles and joints hurt and seem to be tense, weak and stiff. Can anxiety cause all of these CONSTANT symptoms? This problem is effecting my life and my relationships and I just want to feel normal and like my old self again.
Apart from Lyrica, analgesics like Tylenol, Motrin, Naproxem sodium. Antidepressants like Amitrityline, and Prozac and muscle relaxants have also been found to be helpful. Other options include Cognitive behavioral therapy. Please check the link below it has some useful lifestyle and home remedies to deal with Fibromyalgia. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fibromyalgia/DS00079/DSECTION=lifestyle-and-home-remedies Hope this helps!
It looked like a Lupus rash possibly, other test on kidneys and electrolites were good, and some other test were ran and the info was sent to my doctor. I already have a check-up booked for Thursday, I am just going to wait until then. The ER sent me home with a diagnoses paper saying "Fibromyalgia and Paresthesia. Please follow up with specialist as soon as possible and when making appointment please tell them the ER referred you...
bipolar.......AND.....fibromyalgia. This greatly interests me and is worthy of more understanding on my part.... particularly since I've been told both those things about myself as well. I probably didn't help you.....cause I'm learning and deciding these very same questions for myself. If there is a natural way to regulate my brain...I will seek that info out first and go from there. I wish you peace during this journey....if I don't have peace in my gut and my heart about something...
I also have a ton of black spots in my eyes and my vision has become blurry. My doc says MS or Fibromyalgia. I am going to be tested for these things but it is very difficult to function. Its 4am and I can't sleep due to anxiety and racing heart... any ideas? I am not on any medication just vitamins which I started taking due to my anxiety and joint pain to see if it was a vitamin deficiency. I have researched that vit D and severe B 12 depletion can cause these same symptoms.
Since it started I've had an MRI of the head and spine 3 emgs and nerve conduction studies - one performed by a different neuro (second opinion). My last emg and NCS was 3 weeks ago. Every test has come back normal, including physical examinations by the two neurologists. Both said BFS. I don't have any weakness. My neurologist is very well re-spected and I don't have any wish to see another one but it's not getting any better and I'm just terrified that I have ALS.
Is that what you want me to diagnose you with? Because if I do, every doctor you see from here on out will see 'fibromyalgia' and realize you are one of 'those' people. A person who has random aches and pains with no cause. But, if it makes you feel any better, I can tell you that's what you have, because then at least you will have a 'diagnosis'." All of the above was spoken in a heavy Russian accent; it was quite the diatribe, let me tell you.
The only anti-depressant I was able to take was Prozac and after awhile it was no longer effective. Every other anti-depressant has had negative side-effects. Also don't think meds alone help - I need talk therapy at least if I took meds. Maybe I'll just stay depressed. Thank you for responding.
