308205 tn?1213962077 I was wondering if any one has heard about the short trial done for prozac in ms . My gp has told me about it and apparently the ms society have shown interest more trials are due to take place?. Just looking for feed back only after being on rebif then beterferon which was a bad time for me so i came of them although they work for others thank god they were not for me unfortunately. Hope to hear any news on this topic from any one who has any information.
Avatar n tn I took Effexor several years ago. Was on it 5 years and it was the only time in my life that my cholesterol was high. Once I went off it, my cholesterol went back to normal. I had a heart attack back in May and have to wonder if Effexor had anything to do with it. Interesting subject and more information needed for anyone taking antidepressants.

Avatar m tn I agree with Kenkeith, it can definitely be a side effect from Prozac. This drug can also increase your cholesterol levels so I would have your blood checked. Also, there is the side effect of fatigue, is that why you only do 20 mins a day?
Avatar m tn Things like going to work, grocery shopping or cutting the grass. I tried St John Wort and I felt better (I also saw my doctor for cholesterol and EKG for my chest and stomach pain at the same time as starting the medicine, all came back great). After a few weeks it came back so I got on Prozac (day 8) and wow, so far so bad.
459689 tn?1276570143 Hmmmmmmm. I honestly don't know if this is Prozac related or not. What DOES appear to be the case is that your medication schedule (or lack if it ) is entirely self-guided, so there may be something similar to that business of taking ALL the antibiotic medicine even if you THINK the problem is long gone. Just a guess. But that said, you might be able to look back at the onset of the problem and see if you find any "suspects" that could have been a trigger.
Avatar n tn I also have developed muscle twitches in my legs and arms and eyes. So of course I am worried about them too. My cholesterol came back high and I don;t like to take statins so yes I am worried about this too. I just feel like I don't like being me!!Does anyone have any tips for me that might help get me on track??? Thanks in advance to a great community of friends that can understand what we all are going through!!
Avatar n tn so I cut back the dose and seemed to be fine until all this. I am also on Prozac and have been for about 2 yrs. Was put on during time of excess stress...(divorce) ect... I am a realtor that has had to go to work at Home Depot since the market has been so bad...very hard on your body work. Had an accident at work and had shoulder surgery last year that was a 5 month out of work at Home Depot. I have cut dose down on thyroid med and Prozac and seem to be some better with the jerks.
Avatar f tn When I was taking Prozac I didnt gain weight.Paxcel made me gain some though.
460185 tn?1326077772 The only anti-depressant I was able to take was Prozac and after awhile it was no longer effective. Every other anti-depressant has had negative side-effects. Also don't think meds alone help - I need talk therapy at least if I took meds. Maybe I'll just stay depressed. Thank you for responding.
Avatar n tn I am able to live with my attacks (which can get really bad at times) and I actually have a fear of taking meds. I think the only thing I will take is a child's dose of tylenol only when I have a fever or migrane. I have discovered that taking Vitamin B Complex capsules have helped reduce my stress and anxiety levels. Also, I still love taking Flinstone vitamins, on top of the vit B complex. I feel great when I don't miss out in taking one a day.
1962464 tn?1344606673 I see Celebrex for pain in joints, Levothyroxin for thyroid?, and I know that Prozac (which causes complete disinterest in sex...been there got rid of that one) for your anxiety. I also know that Seroquel if used for the same thing but I also know it's used to aid in sleep and WEIGHT GAIN..got rid of that one as well..I don't need the help in that department..
Avatar f tn The Dr said this would go away once the prozac fully kicked in , but its been a month and nothing. I know the prozac is helping but i have ups and downs all day. If I sit at home by myself for an hr or two i will feel depression and or anxiety. I guess my question is..... do you think that I should request a higher mg of prozac (20) or keep giving the 10mg pills a try? I hate having to try so hard to not feel depressed.
Avatar f tn Hi i'm on Prozac and trazodone if you start on a low dose of trazodone it shouldn't be an issue and there really is no interaction with trazodone and Prozac because I've been on trazodone and Prozac for years and I've never had a problem you just have to take it like maybe you're better off just taking half a tablet or something
Avatar f tn 20 mg prozac is a low dosage and generally not in the therapuetic range for OCD treatment. Generally dosages are 20 to 40 mg for depression, and 60 to 80 mg (and occasionally higher) for OCD. I personally took 80 mg prozac for 16 years. And I agree with JGF25. Long term effects? I wouldn't BE HERE long term if I hadn't taken meds. I also have low thyroid. Years ago, my dr. said to just view my SSRI as I do my thyroid supplement, something my body needs.
Avatar f tn First of all, you shouldn't just stop taking antidepressants without discussing it with your doctor. Fortunately, you weren't on the Prozac long enough and you were at a very low dose, so you didn't experience the nasty effects of going cold turkey off these types of meds. Prozac can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to reach "steady state" in your body. That is the point at which it will begin to help you.
Avatar f tn I have been on and off prozac for 4 years and i now am experiencing heartburn. I take 20mg at night because it makes me dizzy but i dont get the heartburn until the afternoon the next day. I was wondering is it safe to take ranitidine 150mg effervescent? I took it all the time when needed before being back on prozac and it works i was wondering does it cause any side affect?
Avatar f tn Hi Elaine, Hi Elaine, I posted in the other forum (pregnancy) about being put on prozac 10 mg. I have taken your great advice and am doing yoga and breathing exercises to deal with my mild anxiety instead. But heres my question to put my mind at ease. I took the prozac at 28 weeks for about a week. It wasnt right for me and I was too worried I was doing harm to the baby. After my 3 miscarriages last year I am always worried now.
Avatar f tn got a new dr in may cause old one retired he had me try to up prozac and trouble with that so his asso. had me totally stop the prozac and go on wellbutrin sr 150am and pm,,,,after a week i was having prozac withdrawals so back on prozac i went and still on wellbutrin to be honest i dont know if my depression is something else cause neither brought me up or were stimulating..my new dt thinks i have slight add..anywayas i have been tapering off the prozac 10 mg a week per dr...
Avatar f tn yesterday I went dr for anxiety and not sleeping at night. told her about my husband had been on Xanax for about 3 yrs and I have no in, so when my sleeplessness started , and anxiety I took one of his Xanax at times and some times I would have to take 2mg so she put me on 10 mg of prazac and 1mg of Xanax . my question is I scared to death of the anti-depressant because I have heard good people doing bad things on them I told her I was afraid of them but she insisted I take both.
517130 tn?1223039824 Nervousness, insomnia, ANXIETY, tremor, agitation, headaches............the list of side effects of Prozac is quite extensive. You say you've just started taking them, so you have anywhere from 1-4 weeks for it to reach it's therapeutic level. During that time you should expect to feel like you're still on that emotional roller coaster, but you should also begin to gradually feel a lessening of that turmoil. Your doctor was remiss in not telling you to avoid alcohol.
Avatar f tn I was terrified to take anything else, but eventually gave in to Prozac. Slowly, but surely, I recovered and am now better than I had been in years. I've been taking Prozac since 2003 and am able to manage my dose based on how I'm feeling. Medication like Ativan can actually make some people worse and that's what happened to me. I believe it depressed my central nervous system so that I was a perfect candidate to experience clinical depression.
Avatar m tn what does potassium have to do with it? .... I am open here to any and all thinking and ideas ... how long sis on Prozac? ... what has improved? .. no side effects noticed by her? as always THANKS everyone and God Bless!!!!!

1867019 tn?1353467540 I need everyone's opinions on Prozac and Zoloft. My doctor said said Prozac could give me seizures...scared the s*** out of me!! Please let me know if you have taken either of these?
