Hello, I am extremely worried I have leukemia and I’m hoping for some help interrupting my blood test results. Within the last 2 months, I’ve began to notice easy bruising on my legs and arms. Some of them are big and purple, and they result from a small bumb or even scratching. I finally went to the doctor and they ran some blood tests. The nurse called and said the labs looked ‘ok’ but they wanted to retest in a few weeks. She didn’t really give me much for details, so obviously I’m worrying.
All ssris and snris have as a common side effect increased bleeding and bruising. It's why they warn against using NSAIDS when you're on them except under a doctor's care. But I would be concerned if it's happening this soon after starting, and I'd also look into the recent concern over liver problems and Cymbalta. I'd talk to my psychiatrist and do some homework to see if this is the best med for you.
In addition to increased bleeding and bruising, a person may experience shortness of breath, numbness in the limbs, and ulcers, skin lumps, or purple spots on the skin.
The type of treatment depends on the severity of the vasculitis and which area of the body it affects. Several medications, including steroids, may help.

Actually, I think Tylenol and ibuprofen are mentioned -- I believe ssris warn of possible bleeding and bruising from nsaids, and both of the above are nsaids. I doubt it stops any of us from using them, but drugs are always going to present possible problems, and docs and pharmacists are pretty clueless about them. There's just too many of them, and most only happen to a minority of users, sometimes a small minority.
I am able to live with my attacks (which can get really bad at times) and I actually have a fear of taking meds. I think the only thing I will take is a child's dose of tylenol only when I have a fever or migrane. I have discovered that taking Vitamin B Complex capsules have helped reduce my stress and anxiety levels. Also, I still love taking Flinstone vitamins, on top of the vit B complex. I feel great when I don't miss out in taking one a day.
I’ve been diagnosed with depression and I’ve been taking Prozac and Wellbutrin for about 2 years. I no longer feel sad but I’m still taking them because they were also recommended by my neurologist to combat my fatigue. My friends have always teased me about being the most motivated person they know (I didn’t even miss any school in college when I has mono) and now I feel like my motivation is completely gone.
Sleep/fatigue: If I am able I will sleep between 14 – 20 hours a day.
The Dr said this would go away once the prozac fully kicked in , but its been a month and nothing. I know the prozac is helping but i have ups and downs all day. If I sit at home by myself for an hr or two i will feel depression and or anxiety. I guess my question is..... do you think that I should request a higher mg of prozac (20) or keep giving the 10mg pills a try? I hate having to try so hard to not feel depressed.
Hi i'm on Prozac and trazodone if you start on a low dose of trazodone it shouldn't be an issue and there really is no interaction with trazodone and Prozac because I've been on trazodone and Prozac for years and I've never had a problem you just have to take it like maybe you're better off just taking half a tablet or something
First of all, you shouldn't just stop taking antidepressants without discussing it with your doctor. Fortunately, you weren't on the Prozac long enough and you were at a very low dose, so you didn't experience the nasty effects of going cold turkey off these types of meds.
Prozac can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to reach "steady state" in your body. That is the point at which it will begin to help you.
I have been on and off prozac for 4 years and i now am experiencing heartburn. I take 20mg at night because it makes me dizzy but i dont get the heartburn until the afternoon the next day. I was wondering is it safe to take ranitidine 150mg effervescent? I took it all the time when needed before being back on prozac and it works i was wondering does it cause any side affect?

I posted in the other forum (pregnancy) about being put on prozac 10 mg. I have taken your great advice and am doing yoga and breathing exercises to deal with my mild anxiety instead. But heres my question to put my mind at ease. I took the prozac at 28 weeks for about a week. It wasnt right for me and I was too worried I was doing harm to the baby. After my 3 miscarriages last year I am always worried now.
got a new dr in may cause old one retired he had me try to up prozac and trouble with that so his asso. had me totally stop the prozac and go on wellbutrin sr 150am and pm,,,,after a week i was having prozac withdrawals so back on prozac i went and still on wellbutrin to be honest i dont know if my depression is something else cause neither brought me up or were stimulating..my new dt thinks i have slight add..anywayas i have been tapering off the prozac 10 mg a week per dr...
yesterday I went dr for anxiety and not sleeping at night. told her about my husband had been on Xanax for about 3 yrs and I have no in, so when my sleeplessness started , and anxiety I took one of his Xanax at times and some times I would have to take 2mg so she put me on 10 mg of prazac and 1mg of Xanax . my question is I scared to death of the anti-depressant because I have heard good people doing bad things on them I told her I was afraid of them but she insisted I take both.
I was terrified to take anything else, but eventually gave in to Prozac. Slowly, but surely, I recovered and am now better than I had been in years. I've been taking Prozac since 2003 and am able to manage my dose based on how I'm feeling.
Medication like Ativan can actually make some people worse and that's what happened to me. I believe it depressed my central nervous system so that I was a perfect candidate to experience clinical depression.

hi since march 3 i have been on prozac and xanax i have depression and anxiety...im a bit bettter but my dr said prozac is very stimulating and im not finding that im still depressed and dragging around....are others on prozac and xanxax with luck.....dr is thinking of adding a amphetimine when i next go back to see him...im thinking like ritalin or something....its been almost a month shouldnt i feel better...does xanax make the prozac not help with depression or something?
i have had major anxiety for 4 yrs now to the point were i cant be elft alone again, and it is or i am letting it control my life i c drs i have just been switched or in the process of switching from paxil cr 50 mg daily to prozac and i take clonazepam. i c many take xanax. i have heard bad things about that. but i am wondering if prozac is a good med for really bad axiety and fears of dieing..everyday.
After seeing th psychiatrist he switched me to Prozac. I went from Prozac 10 mg to 15mg with no issues. When he increased my dose to 20 mg I began to experience frequent urge to urinated and burning in my pelvic area. My primary care checked me for UTI and yeast infection. I did have glucose in my urine and a yeast infection for which I was treated with Diflucan and Metronizal gel.I was treated for vaginosis. I am not sexually active.
Prozac (fluoxetine) is an anti-depressant that works by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin back into your brain, thereby encouraging it to produce more. It has one of the longest half-lifes of all the SSRIs and is therefore one of the easiest to wean off of. It is generally taken early in the day so that you won't have diffuculty sleeping at night.
all drs love to push pills and you are on a new type of ssri med with cymbalta and the old prozac pills back in the olden days and i dont hear good things about the tricyclics. can cause eventaully strokes and other negative pills side effects. why are you on 2 anti depression meds. take one or the other. you need to be open and tell dr what you want not what he wants. trust me!!
