Avatar f tn I was able to look for employment again, seek out options for going bk to school, and I had much less social anxiety with friends, family, and the public. I also went on a much needed weight loss program and had lost 17 lbs. Then my insurance denied coverage and we are working on an appeal. I have heard that "Adderall" can help some people who were taking Provigil but you have to ask your doctor about that. I only hope this drug goes to a generic form one day so I can have it again.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Concerta is quite well known to cause weight loss, common complaints of appetite being suppressed, not being hungry, feeling full etc occur in all ages and gender. Significant weight loss is probably one of the more common reasons for a change in medication, so i would definitely recommend discussing your weight loss concerns with your prescribing dr.
Avatar f tn s in the fridge until I receive training). I did start Provigil for fatigue on Saturday. I felt okay Sunday and Monday but I was pretty exhausted Tuesday and somewhat tired today. I didn't get up until 11 and I napped from 4pm to 8pm. I also noticed that I have no appetite. I have cotton mouth. I am very thirsty and nauseous. I did eat some cereal today. I tried to eat a little oatmeal tonight and only managed about two bites. Has anyone else had similar issues? Did anything help?
405614 tn?1329144114 My PCP wouldn't even try to convince my insurance company I needed Provigil, he said it ws so outrageously expensive they would automatically deny me. He instead gave me a perscription for (generic name) Phendimetrazine 105mg extended release tablets. It does basically the same thing as Provigil, maybe not as strong. I was having trouble staying awake driving. I would feel like I was awake, but really far away looking down at myself. Not good when you drive for a living, LOL.
Avatar m tn Has anyone on here taken Provigil? my doctor gave me a sample pack and told me to try it for my chronic fatigue. I was on a prednisone pack and felt fantastic until it started to taper off, now its my 2nd day off it and i feel like ****, and im supper tired... I tried 100 mg of the provigil, and i have had a screaming headache all day. (had to take tynelnol). anyone else have this?
968560 tn?1307451498 like GSDgirl, I looked it up, and it’s labeled for weight loss. Have you discussed the use of Provigil (modafinil) yet? This stuff is FDA labeled for fatigue (think fighter pilots :o)), and is supposed to be non-addictive.
Avatar f tn A five minute snack and stretch break produces immediate results, whereas a pill will take 20-25 minutes to work, and the only side effect I have to worry about is weight loss and increase in muscle tone. As someone who always relied on the infinite brilliance of doctors and pharmaceuticals, I laughed off this advice when it was given to me a year ago. I learned the hard way that medication does not solve the problem--it only treats the symptoms, and it can lead to greater problems.
Avatar f tn I hate to be a wet blanket and a pessismist, but if Craig has any more bouts of vision loss even AFTER stopping the Provigil, I would make another trip to the doctor, for sure. I just don't understand how one can go totally blind for a few seconds all caused by blood pressure peaks. I guess Quix would have to explain this one to me. Am I worried about Graig...Elaine, you know me..you know I am sincere in my worry. I just want the best possible care for him, as you do.
390916 tn?1204840470 Has anyone tried ProVigil? My sleep specialist suggested that I try it for the deep tiredness that I experience, even after getting great help with sleep from my CPAP machine. By the way, my trip to Seattle went very well. Though it is indeed very hilly, the cooler weather and low humidity made it easier to get around than here is muggy Baltimore. The weather seems to have a huge impact on this disease.
1753162 tn?1317278184 I took Provigil, a drug very similar to Nuvigil, for years before my insurance company decided that they wouldn't pay for it. Then I was switched to Ritalin and it did very little for me. Now I'm taking the generic form of Provigil, and I'm starting to feel like a human being again. The fatigue is much, much better. When I first started Provigil, it took some time to get used the medicine.
429700 tn?1308007823 Thank you so much for the feedback. I just dropped off my prescription to get it filled at the pharmacy. I'm holding out a little bit of hope that the medicine will work. I'm thouroughly discouraged about the Provigil not being covered by my insurance company because I feel halfway human on this medicine. I kind of feel like the character Charlie in Flowers for Algernon having seen the way I could be and having to slide backwards to the way things were before.
765921 tn?1240405239 Thanks for the info, that is my concern about the Provigil, and I don't want to take any chances. Also, for the Lyrica, weight gain would be a concern because I have had gastric bypass. Oh well, I finally found a rheumatologist today, I have to travel about an hour and a half but I think it will be worth it in the long run. I don't understand why the rheumatologists around my area won't take fibromyalgia patients, but they wouldn't. Weird. Anyway, thanks for the help guys!
Avatar n tn s interpretation. For the past year I have experienced weight loss, extreme fatigue and feeling just really run down. My test show that my TSH level is 0.25 and my free T3 and T4 normal. My doctor said that I am fine. However, my gut is telling me that there is just something not right. I'm not really wanting there to be anything wrong, but I just want to feel NORMAL. Is there really no problem with these results?? At least in the thyroid area?
Avatar m tn I know it can be frustrating to get the weight off, I spent a number of years hitting the gym, being very much active and not shedding a single pound (though building muscle like crazy. But weight can be loss, its just a matter of finding the right combo of things that help the weight to shift in the right direction. Luck!
398059 tn?1447945633 Oh, actually I see Q posted about her experience with Provigil on the "New Fatigue Drug" thread. Read that!
797195 tn?1240579823 I've been on both Provigil and Nuvigil. There is NO comparison. Nuvigil is hands down MUCH more effective to me than Provigil. Provigil always gave me a "rush" upper feeling. It felt like I was a little high. Provigil, on the other hand, is a slow and gradual release. I take it in the morning, and within an hour or so, I notice I can just concentrate better and am less tired. Its very gradual and lasts a lot longer than Provigil.
Avatar m tn I would like to warn you, I was getting all these symptoms being the sole caregiver of my parents, mom with a stroke, and dad with a blend of Alzheimer's, Bipolar, and Senile Dementia. I was there several years before my doctor did give me provigil. The thing is, I wished I would have known that what I had was caregiver burnout, and I didn't need more energy to use up to get a longer period of burnout, I needed someone to help me.
1394098 tn?1385960134 So now my Dr is thinking of prescribing Provigil. Has anyone tried this drug. If so does it work well for fatigue. I read that it helps with focus but I haven't read anything about it helping with tiredness.
Avatar n tn Does anyone have information on Provigil Abuse? Is it possible? My husband was addicted to prescription Oxy for 5 years and since getting off (3 years ago) has been on several different meds to overcome depression, etc. He has been taking Provigil for 2 years, but recently he runs out of his prescription before the refill date and he stays awake for days on end, between 7-10 days.
Avatar f tn This sleep disorder is characterized by excessive day time sleepiness, sleep paralysis, cataplexy where the person has episodes of loss of muscle function while awake, hypnogogic hallucinations and automatic behavior. Sometimes other sleep disorders like obstructive sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome cause inadequate sleep leading to fatigue and daytime sleepiness.
Avatar f tn t function and started the paperwork for disability. So in conjuction with my doctor and with the pharmacy help line for Provigil it was determined that for me it would be ok to cut the 200mg pill into smaller pieces. (Note - this is an option for me - don't try this without your doctors ok.) We found that my heart could tolerate a 50mg dose. (Provigil only comes in 100mg and 200 mg pills). That worked good for about 9 months. Now I am up to 75mg.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.
233622 tn?1279334905 My mom who has high blood pressure also is on provigil for narcolepsy (SPEELED HORRIBLY WRONG!) She had a heart attack back in April and provigil was one of the first drugs the heart doctor put her back on.
619930 tn?1260374254 I am in week 42 of tx and my trial doc prescribed 100 mg of Provigil to help with my fatigue (he can't/won't prescribe procrit). My hgb was at 9.4 as of last Friday after being in the mid 10's for a while. I am sleeping "ok" at night with Ambien CR, but have been getting close to worthless (mentally and physically) as far as work goes the past few weeks. I'm wondering if this will really help or possibily aggravate my dizziness from stairs and mild exertion.
