Avatar m tn i was told today the VA no longer will Rx provigil for MS fatigue. have to have a sleep disorder and get it from pulmonary now. they will, for MS patient fatigue Rx amantadine. i have battled MS fatigue for years and recently decided to try something for it, so the VA is Rx amantadine vs provigil. anyone on this list try amantadine for MS fatigue? just checking with the experts here (actual suffers). i thought provigil was what i needed.
572651 tn?1530999357 I had my neuro switch my Provigil rx from monthly to a 90 day supply so I could save money. It was costing me $50 a month, because my insurance has it as a tier 3 drug. Going to the 90 day supply lets me get the third month for $0 - it would have cost me $100 for 90 days instead of $150. I was very surprised and pleased when the new rx arrived in the mail - Provigil has now gone generic, and Modafinil (the generic name) was shipped instead of the name brand. The cost?
Avatar m tn True its cheaper than Provigil (am still reeling over that price) but......
398059 tn?1447945633 I read that some of you use provigil or whatever and some other drugs for fighting fatigue. What are the good, the bad, and the ugly on using them?
405614 tn?1329144114 s medical assistant regarding my letter asking for help getting approval for Provigil. She said that Dr. S. said that Dr. Y. needs to do the research since she prescribed the Provigil. I explained that Dr. Y. prescribed the trial rx, and that Dr. S. had written a rx for "fatigue from cerebral white matter disease", that Dr. Y. hasn't considered that as a diagnosis, that she has MS as a differential diagnosis. Dr. S.
572651 tn?1530999357 I have read articles on the FDA website that are warning against purchasing RX drugs from websites in other countries because they have found many of those online pharmacies are not even giving you the drug you think you are buying. It is very very dangerous. http://www.fda.gov/forconsumers/consumerupdates/ucm048396.htm Check out that article with the link above. http://www.fda.gov/downloads/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/UCM204943.
Avatar f tn m down to my last six Provigil, and doubt that I can afford another Rx. Even if I get diagnosed, my insurance doesn't cover Provigil; no studies show that it's beneficial in the treatment of MS. Cephalon won't give it free unless you have the FDA approved diagnoses; Obstructive sleep apnea, shift worker sleep disorder, or narcolepsy, none of which I have. I will miss the days of clarity and focus, the drive to get things done. I will do what I can to carry on.
Avatar f tn Okay.....was diagnosed this past week. Was given RX for Provigil and will be starting Betaseron. Please tell me of your experiences with these meds. Thanks!
429700 tn?1308007823 I don't have MS (so it appears), but I have quite a few similar symptoms, including dizziness and the related brain fog and fatigue. Back in 2000, neuro prescribed Provigil, saying "we used to use Ritalin for this" but that Provigil is now favored because of fewer side effects. Provigil was very helpful for both fatigue and cognition, although I didn't like the late-afternoon "letdown" effect I got with it. It was rather unpleasant.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.
704043 tn?1298056844 i have tried provigil 2 much money- and samples of nuvigil - provigil 4 me worked the best- but now financialy need 2 ask about one of these others? which one or r they the same?? 405614 tn?1329144114 The side effects look a lot worse than those listed for Provigil. I wonder how long the patent on Provigil lasts, and when there will be a generic form? Does anyone else have trouble getting medications that they need or that are really helpful in improving your quality of life? Ess and I discussed on another thread how both our insurances only allow you to get half a month's worth of Ambien. Are we only supposed to sleep every other day?
198419 tn?1360242356 Thanks you guys! I'll be talking w/ Dr today I hope. I have chosen Copaxone. With my school and ER schedule, it will fit the best. As far as the cramping goes... it has calmed down to a constant tight muscle so I think it's getting better. I'm going to request a RX for Skelaxin (Methocarbamol) to help. It's a non narcotic/sedating muscle relaxer I can take during the day. I'm also considering trying samples of that med to help w/ fatigue... Provigil?
789572 tn?1334424879 Hey there, You might discuss Provigil or one of its clones with your doctor; I’ve heard of HCV patients in treatment taking it for staying alert. I believe it’s labeled for shift workers (also fighter pilots), among other things. I know what you mean about fatigue; I was trying to work pre-treatment, and ended up napping in the cab of my truck some days. I hope you find something to help you out soon; are you in Anchortown?
Avatar f tn My neuro suggested maybe trying Ritalin.....he says Provigil is the best, but it is kind of pricey even w/ my insurance.......So is Provigil worth it? ....Has anyone tried Ritalin? Has anyone had any weird s/e w/ either med??? I would be very grateful for any input....
405614 tn?1329144114 Dr. Y. had no problem writing the original Provigil rx, but she made it clear that if I were to continue getting it, she wanted Dr. S. to do the prescribing and follow-up. OK, maybe I can combine Wonko's idea of a short and sweet letter, including the "My response to Provigil is exactly what is seen in MS, which is in the differential diagnosis of my MS specialist" or something like that.
405614 tn?1329144114 Wow! I took my first 100 mg. of Provigil yesterday. I had to get up really early to make it in to a 8:20 appt. with my PCP, and took my Provigil at 6 am. After my shower, I was feeling pretty good, still dizzy and shaky, but moving fast, ready to go in plenty of time, and took everything I needed to have with me. I got into town in time to go to my apartment, pick up some items I wanted, check in with the forum, and go to my appt. after chatting briefly with a neighbor.
1142551 tn?1264736930 Provigil is more expensive and I actually had more side effects with Provigil. Nuvigil is the 2nd generation of Provigil and the manufacturer has lowered the price to get everyone "switched" before the patent on Provigil expires in 2011. For me, the difference between Nuvigil and Provigil was amazing. Nuvigil gave me back my life. Provigil let me leave the house but I had trouble functioning. And since Provigil is "going away" it is tough to even get samples.
Avatar n tn I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?
5509293 tn?1428531475 This is my first day on Provigil, taking 200 mg this morning. This is an attempt to replace Adderall 15 to 30 mg per day. Provigil walloped my blood pressure. It dropped by 10 points when I check 12 hours after taking the first dose. I've been lethargic most of today. I finally took an Adderall so I could function.
401095 tn?1351391770 Is anyone familiar with the drug provigil or monafinil for enery and depression...? It is a drug for narcolepsy....wakes me up but not sure about use during tapering tabs...
390916 tn?1204840470 Has anyone tried ProVigil? My sleep specialist suggested that I try it for the deep tiredness that I experience, even after getting great help with sleep from my CPAP machine. By the way, my trip to Seattle went very well. Though it is indeed very hilly, the cooler weather and low humidity made it easier to get around than here is muggy Baltimore. The weather seems to have a huge impact on this disease.
