provigil going generic

I was very surprised and pleased when the new rx arrived in the mail - Provigil has now gone generic, and Modafinil (the generic name) was shipped instead of the name brand. The cost? A total of $20 for a 90 day supply. Maybe now that it is available in generic form all of our insurance companies will be less difficult to work with and get approved. We can only hope........

I found out at the doctor's office today that Provigil is going generic. Good news/bad news. Bad news is that my insurance has never approved Provigil but my doctor always had a plenty of samples for me. Now, no more samples. Has anyone tried the generic Provigil? I've been given the new Nuvigil to try for a week. If that also works then we will fight my insurance company for that. Just checking to see if anyone has tried the new medicine or the generic form.

I use Adderall for fatigue and it helped me better than provigil did. Better yet it is generic and so my copay is only $10.00. Much better than 25, or 50 that I have to pay for other meds. Maybe switching to a generic will help. Can't hurt to ask. Hope it helps!

My doctor wrote me prescriptions for the generic of Provigil and I will be sending it off to an on-line Canadian pharmacy to fill. It is actually affordable, so I'm going to try it.

You know, i was not thinking, but possibility provigil is not working as well..i just assumed I have had too much going on and was sicker. I dont want that to happen because I am afraid of the other drugs for fatigue. Have you tried anything that works like it does? Tried adderall and it was not as good.

I don't think wellbutrin is going to help with your fatigue, but I've been taking the generic for Celexa and it has helped with keeping a good perspective on everything. Even when things are really bad I seem to keep a reasonable attitude. I haven't heard of anything that helps with the fatigue.

The Ritalin is not as good as the Provigil, but it helps a little bit with the fatigue. I am going to see how it works when I start back in two weeks--that's the real test. If could have bitten nails! I will try really hard to hang in there at work before having to retire.

Hi everybody, I went to my doctor today regarding my tireness and how I still have tremors in the legs and hands, He put me on provigil, he also shared with me that he feels when my thyroid is out of whack its causeing this attack on something that would otherwise was dorment? He wants to still rule out ms but if i dont have ms he wants to start searching for the other things he has in mind. He refused to say what!!!!!! wants me to focus on ruling out ms.

I take back the statement about not going a day without Provigil. I didn't take it when I had the flu or gastroenteritis or whatever it was. I didn't want to energize the bug that attacked me and certainly didn't care about staying awake to observe my own mysery. I survived without any problems I can recall but I was already pretty miserable those four days anyway. NO obvious withdraw type stuff. You can take it one day and not the next.

I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.

My insurance initially said 'no' to provigil because I didn't have narcolepsy. So I tried amantadine and I reacted badly to it. Then my neuro appealed and provigil was approved. I don't know what he said in the appeal, but you might mention this to your doctor. Provigil has gone generic recently and got cheaper, so I don't know if it is any easier to get than nuvigil.

Didrex was approved by the FDA in 1960 as a Central Nerve stimulant. The normal dosage is 2-50mg tabs daily and costs $22.

I've heard that the generic provigil isn't half what provigil is........but have filled out the paperwork for provigil, just haven't heard back from them yet, for assistance.

I have heard a lot of good things about things about provigil in treating depression if coupled with an antidepressent. Has anyone tried this? I am having a hard time functioning. Any help would be appreciated.

However, someone here pointed out that Nuvigil might just be a way the makers of Provigil have to keep Provigil users paying for Trade name drug a little longer (since Provigil will be going generic soon). However, you might consider just having your doctor order a few pills of Nuvigil to see if it could help you. Also, regarding the Provigil: Make sure its expiration date is a long time off. I have found that can make a difference - that it gets weaker with time.

Has anyone experienced this? I am also going to take cymbalta so it may counteract it a bit. I am a little nervous to take them tomorrow. Oh my .. nothing about this disease is easy. Thanks for all your advice and knowledge. I appreciate it more than u know. love to all .....
